Hello all, I know it's been a long time since I've posted anything but I had a few thoughts that I wanted to throw out there. I have to say that I'm just as dissapointed and surprised by the show gettin cancelled as everyone else but in a way I understand why they did it. I love the show but I have to say that there were a few episodes in season four that I didn't like. At first I had some apprehension over the whole Jordan Collier Messiah thing but after I understood where they were goin with it then I felt that it was an interesting twist to the direction of the show. However, there were a couple of episodes that I thought were a little silly. One particular one was the one where Tom went lookin for Kyle and someone had a 4400 ability to make a pie that messed with his emotions or somethin. I thought that was a little hoaky and I had trouble swallowin that one. Also, I found it to be a little far fetched that one girl had the ability to get in the river and un-pollute it. I know that in a way the whole show is far fetched and that's somethin that you just have to accept about the show if you're gonna be a fan. But I also think that they went too far with some things and it became hard to take. Also, the fact that Kyle's ability was that he had an imaginary friend was a little odd. Don't think I'm trashin the show cuz I'm not, I still love it just as much now as I ever have but I have to say that I hope that when we get a fifth season that they are a little more realistic with the direction they go with the show. Good science fiction should be a mixture of reality and fantasy and I think that in season four they went too far in the fantasy direction and ditched reality almost completely.
Also, I would be interested in knowin what's goin on with gettin the show back. I mean, I know that we're all protestin it bein cancelled but I would like to know what the actors, producers and director of the show are doin and if there are any networks that are considerin pickin it back up. I have done a search on google but can't seem to find anything beyond what I already know.
I hope that the only hope of gettin the show back is the petition on this site because if it is then it will take ten years to get the show back because the numbers right now just aren't high enough to warrant givin us a fifth season.

A few more thoughts for clarity. First in "Try the Pie", the ability did mess with Tom's emotions. It caused a temporary gestalt effect connecting everybodies minds who ate the pie. Tom attitude towards those people changed but got know them intimately in that moment and found them to be good honest people and he like them.

And are we asolutely sure Cassie is Kyle's ability and not the future messing with him again?

Shawn heals people. Why shouldn't there be someone who can heal thing like bad water?

Like I said, I'm not trashin the show, just makin observations. As far as the Tom Baldwin thing goes, I honestly couldn't remember what the pie did, I just remember I thought it was stupid and I fail to see how that qualifies as an ability. As far as the un-pollution thing goes, if you wanna look at the show logically from the premise they gave us in season two where they told us that Dr. Berkhoff unlocked parts of the brain that gives people the abilities, then I find it hard to see the connection between a 4400 ability originating from the brain that changes a person biology so radically that they have un-polluting qualities that they can release and heal an entire river. Feel free to dissagree with me but I just didn't really buy that. I'm not sayin that everything in the show has to be totally realistic, it is a fantasy premise to the show as a whole, but a little dose of reality mixed in with the fantasy would be nice. Don't feel a need to defend the show to me as if I'm not a fan, I've loved it from the pilot episode and still do.

No worries. I'm not arguing with you. I just was trying to try and explain what I observed. And it wasn't to pie. The lady she used a substance produced by one of them as an ingredient in her pies. And they have chemical processes that can remove salt from sea water maybe it something similar to that. Only the writers can truly explain Science Fiction takes allot of what if, what could be imagination. I was bless with a heaping helping.

Hey UncleJack, good post! I loved what you said. You did make a few very good obvservations about season 4. I did the same think but had a slightly different point of view. First off, I'm old enough to remember the days when Sci-Fi programs were done on a shoe string budget. That was one of the reasons given by the Star Trek cast for the shows eventual cancellation. They just didn't spend the money on special effects and props to keep the interest of critical fans. The point here is, I grew up liking these kinds of shows and yes it did take a lot of imagination to get into them. I have even seen old movies that were such low budget that the plot line was not put together right during productions and parts of the end were placed at the beginning of the movie. Talk about chessy! But I like watching them because it does take a lot of imagination to really get into them. I can't watch them with my wife because she will say things during the movie like "that is so chessy, he's not flying, I can see the string attached to him." One can not be critical of Sci-Fi if one is to truely enjoy it. That's what made The 4400 so good. You never knew what direction the writers would take you in. And at times it was a little out there on the edge of imagination. But it was done well. As for the show ever coming back, I think it's possible but not in the form that it is currently in. I don't think anyone (network) wants to spend the really big money it would take to bring this back together again. The 4400 is a very good story though. And you might see a spinoff or something done to revive it as a show that is "future tense." In other words a show that starts up in the future and works it's way back to where it ended in season 4. Maybe a 4 part mini series, brought back a couple years down the line. It would most likely involving new actors and different time lines. But it would be nice to see some of the original actors in the show. At least that's my "realistic hope." This show is dead in the water and is never coming back as it was before. If Star Trek can do it, so can The 4400. And don't try to compare the following of Star Trek to The 4400 as there were only 3 television channels on when Star Trek first came out. Just imagine what it would be like if The 4400 was airing with only 3 channels to view. It would be huge and everyone would be wathcing it (unless the President was giving a speech, ha!) So for now, enjoy the DVD's, music CD (yes there is one), posters or anything else that make you happy. : )
