I think the answer is this: If the craft was just hovering there I would approach it, but if it was mutilating cattle and there was a beam seperating out all the organs and stuff I would just keep driving. This thread may sound strange - but in a Survival book I read once there was a brief chapter on U.F.O.s. The advice given was similar to the advice for wild animals. The basics - don't make eye contact, stay away from anything between you and the creature that it might be interested in . . . like food or young. Back away slowly. I would further add that this method works best because animals judge another animal's size by the height of its eyes from the ground. Therefore (to beasts) we are huge since they expect us to have 2 more legs behind us. All life forms (even aliens) will make the same assumption (at some time - on some level) and if the problem is leaving . . . most creatures feel no need to worry about it.
