"Enigma" is a soldier in the Armed Forces. The guys questioning him are honestly curious - they aren't Communists and they sound well informed (we ignore Commies). As someone who was raised to believe that the bombing of Japan saved lives since it prevented further conflict . . . I say sometimes when you're chewing the fat it's good to come up with new stuff. It's just an extension of the harmless literary art of griping really . . . quite common in the military.
If people honestly don't have the will to do it; Folks are being too shy an so on . . . the results of such a hapenstance are often tragic. When you're going up against a CULT - you're going to have women and children comming at you with knives if you don't take the smarter path and quickly and cleanly repair the problem.
