Full Version: OT: The Pain of Typing...

I absolutely closed my finger in the car door today. And not in the "oh, it's okay" kind of way.

It slammed closed with my 'other' middle finger (closest to the pinkie) still in the door.

The pain twisted me around and kind of spazmed through me electrically, and seized me up, muscle-wise against the car until I could force myself to reach over and open it.

It took a while for the shock to wear down enough to know that when I moved it it didnt hurt in the bones, so what really happened was my door tried to tear my finger open like a pack of lifesavers.

I've got a black nail, a dull throb and a constant ache, but the worst part is - It hurts to type! Even when you're trying to avoid using that finger, some times it just jumps in!

That was the last bad thing to happen today. I took the rest of the day off after that.

But before that - remember my crazy mother? - Well, she's nutty and an alcaholic and her boyfriend of two years is about to finish his third jail term in that time and get out at 2:30 am tomorrow morning. And she wanted to borrow our car to go get him.

Well, she tried to send someone who we know has no lsicense to pick the car up and when we refused she never showed up for the car.

So, tonight, we called and asked "Arent you going to pick him up" to shich she replied 'No.'

We then got a call from the guy without a liscense - my mother was telling him to come pick up OUR car now. When we told him we did not say that he said "Sorry to bother you, I didnt think so."

Well, she's moved since he went to jail. He doesnt know where to find her.

But... <sigh> She's been getting mail from him at MY address for most of the last ten months.

We dont like the guy, we dont want him around, but where do you think he's going to come looking for her?

He's got a whole list of felonies, from assault and battery to grand theft in excess of $20,000.

The way he got arrested was that she and he got in a fist fight - which my mother started - and he called the police to have her arrested. When he went out to talk to them as they arrived, <sighs again> He had a half empty bag of marijuana and a little pipe fall out of his shirt pocket right in front of the cops.

Upon arresting him they found had a felony warrant over in Daytona and he got transfered there.

And now here I am, hoping this guy doesnt wash up when I'm out and my 82 year old grandmother is here alone. You know?

But you've got to look on the bright side of things, right?

At least I can still give him the finger.

Sorry about your finger...I know that hurts! I am still dragging a lot since my back procedure last week. My legs feel like jello. I cant wait until I can get a moving. I am concerned about your mom's ex...Sometimes you cant get it through their heads that you may not know where they are. My neice has recently broken up with her long time guy and he has been harrassing my folks. He was calling at all hours telling them he was going to kill himself or her...drove my mom nuts. I told her that she should go to the cops and press charges or something but she wont. My neice is too nice of a person but I told my mom she wont be safe until he knows what he was doing was wrong. She even had to have a police escort to pick up her stuff from the apartment they shared. I would hate to see what would happen if she decided to date another person.

I hope that you and your g mother will be safe. Heal quickly!

Yeah, we're locking the doors during the day time starting tomorrow.

What a way to live.

Sorry, a completely unhelpful stray thought which made me smile...

Any way of framing the guy for the injury to your finger and sending him back up the river?

Just teasing.

Does your Grandma have any friends that she could spend the day with? I'd be a little leary of her being alone there too, under the circumstances.

No, she's a homebody. She has bad self esteeem because of a thyroid condition and her house has always been her world. I think she's agarphobic (sp?) as she'll even make plans for me to drive her places or go to stores and then she'll just send me with money and a list when the time comes or just cancel it all together.

I guess we'll just have to see how it goes.

And then make it go the right way despite itself.

Oh brilliant. I would totally do that. That's genius! That's why you slammed your finger in the door--that was the higher purpose!

Hi Bubba here, sorry to hear about your finger. I wish the best for your grandmother.

Sorry about your finger. I have slammed my fingers in the car door before, so I know it hurts. I am sure everything will be fine with your grandmother. Keep the doors locked and be aware of surroundings. Take Care!

Hope your finger gets better soon !! That happened to my Dad many a year ago ( he is gone now ) he and his friends had been out drinking and decided to bring his car home and go back out. Dads car in the drive and a snowy and icy driveway, Ok, my Dad locks the doors and slips on the ice while shutting the door and shuts his hand in the door !!!! He is screaming for help and his friends waiting in another car up a ways NEVER hear him. I thought I heard something , turned the TV down, heard screaming and ran outside to find him pinned by his hand to the car. We took him to the ER although he said he was fine !! Dont remember if they continued their outing or not.

Its sounds as though you may have the makings of a new USA TV series with what you post here. wink.gif Thought of a name for your series yet ?

LOL. I got a lot of guff over being named Damien when I was younger. A lot of devily-mean-natured stuff.

So I think my show would have to be called either "665" or just "Mandeville!" And the catch phrase could be "There might be something cool about being the anti-christ, but nothing good comes out of being the only other person to fit the profile."

You may have something here. Who do I talk to about my own series?

-M

P.S. - If I can make people spray drinks and pee thier pants laughing online, what do you think I could do if they gave me my own show? I even have a great fantasy sub plot - the family stuff could be true to form - but by night I could be constantly mistaken for the devil by demons. I mean, it would have worked on Buffy, Dead Like Me, Reaper... Why not? We could een say those fantasy moments represent my psyche and make them teach my shows in college level courses across the country.

...

Sorry, back to what you were doing.

I am sorry to hear about your troubles!! I tell ya life has a way of really smacking us around. Are you sure you didn't break your finger? I have never slammed my hand in a door yet, but I did purposely slam my sister's hand in a car door years ago. So I guess that makes me the female Damien?

Is your grandmother fearful of being alone? She sounds like she may be as stubborn as my grandmother. Mine would refuse to budge from her recliner even if her house was burning down around her. Hang in there!!

No, the finger isnt broken. The nail is slowly turning black and spreading. I hope that stops soon. As far as nails go, I;d like to keep it.

And Gip, my Grandmother, didnt bother locking the doors this morning when I had to run out, then a car we dont recognize pulled in to the driveway, sat for a moment, then pulled out and parked in front of the house for several minutes more before pulling away.

Since it's not a car we know, it could be him.

But at any rate, when this was going on Gip started locking doors and now we're keeping them that way.

And to top it all off - my mother left off with this whole aloof atitude, like she wanted people to question her and pursue her for information or something - and when that didnt happen she got mad and we havent heard from her since. Even my aunt, who is just as bad in her own way - didnt want to call and find out what's happening.

It's just rediculous.

...

Unless it was a show on USA - in which case - FABULOUS!!!

I use to love "The Omen" movies , now that I am a "little" older I guess my taste in movies etc has changed a bit and I use to watch Buffy every morning. If you got your own series I would defintely watch it.

Seriously though , you may be onto something, stranger things have happened ! wink.gif Maybe you could write up a script and pitch it to USA or FOX.

I smashed my thumb in a hospital bed, with its medal drop railing, it dropped on my thumb. It hurted a lot and was black some weeks. I thought it wouldnīt heal never but of course it did. Hospitals can be dangerous places.

Sorry to hear about your and you grandmaīs situation. Itīs sometimes hard to distinguish the wrong persons from the right ones, but when it is not up to you. Too sad! Real life can be like a tv show, but itīs not a entertainment then. Have you wonder from where they get all these ideas?

Glad to hear that G has learned that the world is not as safe as it used to be. The nail will take a long time to heal..a lot of times the black will stop spreading and will grow with the nail...you could always paint it and try to make it look cool...if it's the middle finger you could start a new wave tongue.gif

How is your Grandmother and your finger?

The nail is very black under most of the nail but otherwise healthy. I can almost type with it but should probably wait a day or two. It's really okay unless I pinch it or bump it - as I did on my dogs teeth earlier while we were playing. She felt so bad she gave it kisses afterward. She's a good dog.

My grandmother is... Sad.

On top of all of this with my mother and her ex... Nancy S, a very nice woman a few doors down, who los her husband a couple of years back, just passed away. She had fallen two weeks ago and was in the hopsital when she took a turn for the worse just a few days ago and passed today.

It's sad because my Grandmother is now the last of the original owners on our street. I think there's one other guy, maybe, in the second house on the road, but we dont know him. Everyone else has either moved or passed away.

You know, growing old is difficult enough on it's own. I wish people like my mother didnt add to the mix like they do.

I also saw the neighbors between Nancy's house and Our house - wheeling what looked like empty boxes in to Nancy's house today, after we heard the news. It looked suspicious, but maybe it wasnt. They had the spare key and had been feeding her cats, so maybe it was nothing. But a bunch of empty boxes, on a dolly/handtruck, going IN?

Anyway, it's now almost been 24 hours since we've heard from my mother as my grandmother doesnt want to call her and I dont speak with her - havent in years. And the phone has been quiet - which is on purpose, one way or another. She normally calls here every day. Why she wouldnt now is anyones guess. But before anyone gets worried - Her Room Mate, Ed/"Sage", would call us if anything was wrong. He called just yesterday about the car situation.

So I'm not worried about her. She's removed from her ex - unless she gave him the address - which I dont know and cant help if she did. And nothing is so wrong that the person with her thinks he should call.

Never the less, she's throwing a drama of acting out of character with my grandmother (by not calling). Nice, way to go. Stress the only person anywhere who would still like to help you.

Sarcasm people, sanity's answer to stupid people.

But, mostly, things are well. The news may not be good, but the hearts and souls seem to be.

Thanks for asking.

Just wanted to say I hope and pray that all is well with you and your Grandmother.

Found a couple of qoutes I thought you might get a kick out of .

I dont suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Some people are alive only because it is illegal to kill them.

I use to have a handle on life, but it broke

Take time to laugh and enjoy life

Stay safe and take care

So sorry about your grandmother...sometimes family members can be the worst! My husband doesnt even talk to his mother...hasnt in a ton of years. She called one time when we were visiting his sister to wish her happy birthday and his sister asked if he wanted to talk with her and he said NO. I thought for sure after we got married he would want to speak to her but he hasnt. He was the same way with his dad too. But when we got married we stayed the night at his dads house. That was a nice experience. We did start to commuicate after that but then, like right out of the blue, we get the camera we gave him for fathers day and a letter, unsigned, rambling that I have a fat ass and that I shouldnt throw stones..really bizzare. That was the last thing we got from him. I told my husband to call but he hasnt...I just dont understand. He is just as confused about it but he doesnt want to do anything about it. I guess I will never understand what kinda of situation he grew up in and that is it. I can really empathize with you about this situation. Guess it happens to everyone.

Well, just hang in there... wink.gif
