Snoqualmie Creme Fraiche Gelato - shut up. It's screamin' at me!
TM34567
okay, I'll bite - just what is Snoqualmie Creme Fraiche Gelato?
CrystalSmith
It's delicious...uh, not ice cream - because it's Gelato. It tastes like sweetened sour cream. But good. wink.gif Snoqualmie is the brand, btw.
TM34567
Oh, I wondered what a Snoqualmie was! Sounds pretty good. On that note, I will say good night! Thank you!

I have never had gelato...but I am a big fan of chocolate in general..is it popular where you are right now?

To be honest that was my first gelato experince, although there are a few gelato shops that I've seen in Seattle. I guess the difference between gelato and ice cream is that gelato is made of milk (not cream) and ice cream has cream in it. (Or it did before all the chemical additaves were introduced. I reallly liked this - although the Snoqualmie "Spumoni" ice cream was nothing like the spumoni I know and love.

newcountry: I thought that the "Snoqualmie" part might've been what was confusing, which is why I added that in the edit.
lovethatmonk
I just looked it up and snoqualmie. It is a city in Washington...the creme fraiche is cream fresh and used in a lot of deserts. It is a thinner version of sour cream. At any rate, sounds yummy smile.gif
CrystalSmith
smile.gif - I went out and got some Lemon Custard. It's thawing a little on the counter as I speak. Squee!

I have never had Snoqualmie Creme Fraiche Gelato, but Gelato is wonderful!!
Bubba_Bridges
Hi Bubba here, you guys are makeing me hungry. laugh.gif Cut that out. tongue.gif

Sorry about that Bubba. BtW I liked the Gelato better than the frozen custard. What's next? I'm willing to try new things living in Seattle - I live in the International district - used to be called Chinatown. I tried Bara Sushi recently and didn't like it. To pickle-y. Maybe I'm just pick-y? I like most things, but it's fun to try new tastes.
lovethatmonk
I agree it is important to try new things..I try a food once. If I don't like it I will not have it again. I tried really hard to like fish..first was crab(yuck) then it was salmon(ok but not all that) and cod(no way). My husband is proud that I would be willing to try any thing once. He is a big sushi guy so it is hard to try Japanese things but I love some of the soups and their version of fried chicken(pork really). Now I'm hungry...need a snack! biggrin.gif

This topic tends to have that effect on people. I think the next of the Snoqualmie ice creams I will try is the lavender. (Maybe even tomorrow) I've never tried lavender. If anyone knows, how does it taste? Because, really, I'll go for chocolate.

I like most fish, so I'm okay there. The only market really nearby is Uwajamaya, and it's basically a (mostly) Asian market, and I see all of these things that I really want to try but they seem a little odd to my North American sensabilities. Some of the things that I've tried are, like, baby dried crabs with a sweet/spicy flavor. - really it's the crunchy shell...er, I think. I never really thought about if the meat were still inside. I think the little crabs are dried in an oven. I took them to a friend of mine in Salem and we had some together - her cats seemed to like them the more than either of us. Also, they have these little anchovy like fish that are dried and coated with a sweet/salty glaze. Uh. I ate a few, but, really they were too crunchy for me. Also, they have little mochi cakes that are filled with a bean paste, and have a chewey/doughy rice flour coating. It's really about learning to like different textures, for me. And the Uwajamaya deli has the HOTTEST KUNG PAO CHICKEN imaginable. No joke.

And the miso soup is da bomb! I love the miso.
history08
I wish I could try different foods. I am probably the world's pickiest eater. Anyone who thinks they have me beat....I don't like lettuce! Although, I do like weird food....

Cant help you with the lavender ice cream but one thing is that you have to try out the Japanese candy...One thing I got addicted to was a thing call High Chews...they are like Starburst but a little more chewy. One thing my husband loves is their Pocky...it is a light rolled cookie(kinda plain) but is covered with just about anything! I love the strawberry, chocolate, and chocolate nuts types! Yum! They have so many types of candy..you will get addicted fast! Enjoy!

Shut Up, I LOVE Pocky. They have Poky Dark which if for men. (Impressed - a sweet especially for men). I'll check out the High Chews. I found a candy that's called Choco Babies (I think). They look like rabbit pellets (take that any way you want) and come in little tubes. I also like Ramune soda. It's got a little marble in it. It tastes like crap, but it's fun, like a toy. tongue.gif And only $1.49 a bottle. Woo hoo.

history08 - you don't like iceberg lettuce or like arugula? Or any leafy green?

I had a burdock (and carrot) salad, which was pretty good. Tasted like creamy/salty cole slaw. The burdock was jullienned (sp?) instead of shredded. Yumm-o.

No, I hate lettuce...I guess I might be scared of it. I choked on it when I was little and I remember it. I have tried it one time since then. The thought is just always in the back of my mind. GROSS!!!
lovethatmonk
History...there are a lot of people who hate lettuce. I got burned out on salads in general when I did the Atkins diet. I couldn't think of having a salad for like 6 months!

I guess not eating salads and stuff like that just kind of comes natural to me. I mean I haven't eaten it in so long it just seems natural to not eat it. I have thought a lot, since I started watching Monk, that I may have a phobia of lettuce.

Woooo Hoooo.
My landlady lives in the Seattle area, and comes to visit once a year. I'm sooo going to have her bring me some Gelato. Any flavor will do, so long as it has chocolate in it. laugh.gif

Hmmmm, must go to store and buy the biggest cooler they have, cause she's only here once a year, and I gotta have me enough to last that long. And, dry ice, to keep it frozen on the trip here. Oh nooooo--do they let that kinda thing on airplanes? Will they refuse to let her travel with it?
CWN--Can you please swing the Bus by Seattle on the way to Monkland for the season premiere in July?? Get me one of those super-dooper sizes. And, I'll call in the next five minutes to order so I can get it for only $19.95 plus S&H, and so they'll double my order. There's a truck-load of Starlight mints in it for ya, if ya don't eat it all before I get back from vacation.
I gotta stop reading this post so early in the morning----those Bran flakes paled in comparison to the yummy stuff talked about here. sad.gif

This is the Ramune drink - thanks to BfloGal for the site. Another favorite is 'Hello Boss' canned coffee. LOL.

memebeck49: I'm sure they have chocolate gelato, but I am quite fond of Snoqualmie's Mukilteo Mud (chocolate-y goodness) ice cream. Very rich and Delicious. When I have the ice cream, I usually let it set out at room temperature for about a half hour or fourty-five minutes and eat it with iced cold water. It's so good.
