Full Version: Pilot episode - didn't really work for me

Great idea for a show. But it missed for me, and I can't figure out what the problem is - Mary McCormack, or MM and the writer not being on the same page, or the director missed something. Something is really wrong. The timing, for sure - which I guess is a directing/acting issue. The acting was pretty rough or just badly under rehearsed, not sure. I get that there's not much rehearsal in TV, but it just felt all wrong to me and it was very uncomfortable and awkward. I love the concept, and liked Mary in West Wing, but her personality didn't work with the script, somehow - like she was trying to be a character she wasn't comfortable with. I don't think she's all that good at being glib. It all seemed very nervous - like it was done on the fly and patched together. Messy. I know I'm being really inarticulate about what I mean...I can't quite put my finger on what is wrong here - but something definitely is.

Not to sound like the Thread Police, but this probably could've been put under the Topic that was made for the Pilot Episode.
