Oh, wow... I don't know what Square Pegs was, but I could *so* remember that blonde kid's permed hairstyle and that long rat tail down the back, those shades, the way they were talking and *PacMan*. Oh, god, way to bring on the flashbacks, it's like having served in Vietnam. Make the Valley speak stop, please!

I almost showed this to my daughter, then I thought about having to put up with her laughing and talking about how stupid we were as kids in the '80s and decided not to. I did show her the PacMan game and told her that it was The Game when I was growing up.

She gave me this look of pity that was pretty comical.

I can't wait till she's thirty six and has teenagers making fun of the fashions and trends that are popular now.

And PacMan was miles ahead of the original...PONG - which I owned as a kid. I wub that show. Totally.

Hi Bubba here, I miss the 1980's. I like Pac Man as well. cool.gif

1984, I think, is when Purple Rain came out and I became a huge Prince fan. I saw him in concert a couple of times. Although I'm not into him like I used to be, I plan on visiting Minneapolis to see Aldebaran this summer sometime, and we're going to see his purple house and First Avenue club.

Same here, for sure! I remember when Donkey Kong was the top game. Played all the time at a neighbors house cuz we couldn't afford a Atari! Also Duck hunt was cool too! It bugs me that Madonna went from slut to strange to bizzare to glam queen within 20 years? And is now over in England writing kids books...strange huh.gif Same with Michael Jackson he went from a cute black man to a very strange white guy in the same amount of time! I tend to go back to the 80's when I think I need to relive my teen years. Just wished I weighed what I am now then what I did back then. Fat girls were not cool...but the preppy kids didn't end up with a great life when I went back to my 10 year HS Reunion. Guess what goes around comes around eventually! smile.gif

OMG Donkey Kong and Duck Hunt!!! LOL That brings back memories. And how about Pitfall? I played that game until I was sick of it. I loved Madonna and Michael Jackson. I still like Madonna although you are right - she has had interesting "personas" throughout the years. 15 years ago today was when I graduated. I love this little trip down memory lane.

Oh, an '80's reunion!

Those were the days. In college, while people cranked Prince, Boy George and "Burning Down the House" by whoever that was. (But whoever it was, it sure was loud.) I was more of a Billy Joel fan at the time. Oh, and "Girl's Just Want to Have Fun."

Scarecrow and Mrs. King and Remington Steele both on first run. smile.gif General Hospital was hot. When was that whole Luke and Laura thing?

Peanut butter cup ice cream was introduced...at least to me.

And shoulder pads -- big old linebacker like shoulder pads...and big hair.

Thanks for making me feel really, really old ... I guess the 80's for you youngins was like the 60's for me ... black & white TV, a video game was playing paper, scissors, rock to see which of us siblings was gonna get up to turn the knob on the TV to change the channel (of which we had 7, 8 if you count PBS but needed a different antenna), a CD was something rich people put their money in at the bank, and we remembered 1984 because we were having a test on the novel in English Lit ...

I'm 50, btw, soon to be 51 ... and Stottlemeyer's my last chance ...

My favorite game was always "Joust" with the lava pits and the ostriches. Yeah. Baby.

Was pitfall the one where you had to swing over things and collect jewels?

Tami--
Thank you very much for this little trip down memory lane for me. biggrin.gif I'm just a weeeeee bit older than you( okay, okay, I'm almost eight years older than you), and I do remember the things you mentioned.
My memories of the 80's are of raising a teenage girl. Who loved Madonna, Prince, Boy George, Billy Joel, Cindy Lauper, and a few more I forget the names of. Who wore parachute pants, sometimes a "big shirt", and sometimes a sweatshirt that looked more like a dress; whose bangs were sticking up almost as tall as my pinkie finger is long; and who laughed herself silly when I showed her the Pong game her father and I bought when it first came out.
Some of my favorite shows of the 80's were Moonlighting, Remington Steele, and The A Team. Wasn't a huge fan of the A Team, but hubby was, so we watched it a lot. I did, however, love the character Dwight Schultz played on the show---the kinda wacky guy.

I loved the 80's! I loved my stretch pants with big sweaters, my black boots, my Cyndi Lauper lopsided cut + perm, my Stevie Nicks dresses, my sweater dresses - belted or not, hanging with my friends at night - we'd go bar to bar, never getting drunk, just enjoying being loose & free - we had great jazz clubs, a place called The Moon (so you could say "let's go to the moon"), another bar called Boppers where everyone went & servers would dance - Michael Bolton, Marion Meadows, Rohn Lawrence, and Joey Melotti (played with Barry Manilow) were all starting out here... GREAT TIMES!!!!! I was in my 30's and loved it!!!! Oh, and then my girlfriend discovered a show called "Miami Vice" and we made fun of her for racing home to watch it - then we started doing it too! lol, we'd be out all night on $20 and feel like big spenders! I really miss those days - car, money in my pockets, lots of friends.... *sigh*

Do you think it may work? tongue.gif
