Why do they put a box around the H in House? I was just wondering a friend asked me that and I didn't know. It sorta looks like the symbol for Hydrogen, but I don't know. Help, Please! rolleyes.gif

That's a good question. I've always wondered that too, but I've never figured it out. But if someone knows, please post it, because I am anxious to see why the box is around the H. unsure.gif

I thought it had to do with a symbolism for Hospital? Like the direction signs you see on the roads? I am probably wrong, and would like to know now too?

Here's what the guy from fox said:

"it's a result of a few things.

The way the general story goes is that "House" was originally conceived to be a "medical version of CSI". David Shore (creator and writer of the show) wanted the characters of the show to parallel Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. Hence, House/Holmes and Wilson/Watson. There were a number of working titles of the show before they simply settled on "House", but they anticipated viewers being confused by the title (My friend revealed to me the other day that she originally thought the show was about building houses or some type of extreme home makeover).

I'm certain you've seen traffic signs for hospitals off the highway? Remind you of anything? They put a box around the "H" in House to imply that the show takes place in a hospital and that is primarily medical in nature as not to confuse viewers."

I suppose that is a good idea, and it looks good on the show, but actually doesn't help much in the TV listings(yes, I thought it was another home refurbishing show, too rolleyes.gif {which does me no good because the only thing I strike properly with a hammer seems to be my thumb ohmy.gif }).
