Am I the only one to see the strong resembalance between Andy Griffith/Barney and Stottlemeier/Disher?

A big welcome! I never thought about it, but you are right. Only, Randy hasn`t shot a hole in the floor yet. I think the Capt. lets him carry more than one bullet, and it`s not in his pocket. LOL

You're right. Randy has not shot a hole in the floor, YET!...lol Furthermore, I realize the Capt. carries a gun (unlike Andy) but he told his ex-wife that he did not... more lol.... We don't really know if the Capt. and Disher are related(Andy and Barney were), but if you look at their names (Stottlemeier and Disher) it's possible they come from similar backgrounds...... more lol Russ
Welcome to the Message Boards. Glad to have you! I had not thought about the resemblance between Andy/Barney and the Captain/Disher until I read this post. It is a very interesting concept.

I know it was mentioned on the show, that Andy and Barney were cousins. I only heard it one time. Do you know if they ever mentioned it again?
only in the beginning, I think. Also both Barney and Randy think they are God's gift to music (Barney's singing and Randy's band). Both quit their jobs but were hired back on. Any more?

Thanks, You really know your Andy Griffith. Andy was a lot calmer than the Capt., don`t you think? He used to get very upset with Barney, but handled it very well.

Welcome. I never put those two pairs together, but now that you mention it!
Barney would go off in some strange direction and it was impossible for Andy to talk him down (until the end of the episode of course). He imagined plots and made connections that weren't really there.
He is A LOT like Randy and his theories.
Randy can get himself into a pout, too and Barney did that.
