Im not sure if this constitutes a spoiler but I have an opinion as to what is going on, remember in season 2 or 3 when Johnny was able to talk to the guy from the future, when he was walking around he saw pictures of himself on walls , kinds of like magazine covers and they said something to the effect of him being responsible for the end of the world...I think that Stilson is not the person that brings on Armegeddon but Johnny himself...here me out...When Johnny begins to see Stilson in the visions he begins to think that maybe he is not as evil has he previously thought, so he sees the Armegeddon reverse its self, but as the visions kept coming he began to believe that he was right all along and Greg is evil, so at the end of the show he saw Armageddon again, as if it was still going to happen....so when he tought Greg was not evil he saw the end of the world reverse himslef once he believed Greg was evil he saw that the Armageddon will still happen......My opinion is that Stilson does not bring on Armageddon but that Johnny himself does because of this obsession that he is beginning to have with Greg...At some point I think he decides to run against Stilson for the Presidency to make sure that the end of the world does not happen, but unknowingly it is he that makes it happen...at first the previous episodes protrayed Stilson has evil, but lately we the audience have been seeing a different side of him, a vulnerable side , a man messed up , a drunk unable to control his emotions and man who thinks he is in love. but Johnny only sees the "evil" stuff he says and does, Greg seems to be lead into every decision he makes he never does it himself, sure he killed his father but out of rage because he killed Rebecca's sister and just years of stuff boiling up, and when Janus made Miranda reconsile wiht him I am sure that Stilson was not aware of him blackmailing her, I think Stilson is a pawn by Janus to bring out the evil side of Johnny using his anger towards Stilson to bring about the end of the world..If Johnny jons them a becomes the 3rd wheel so to speak , he will still ahte Greg and he may think hes doing this to save the world but I think Janus will just use that fact that ther are working together to give Johnny the idea of him saving the world but actually be manipulating his feelings and doing to try to bring down Greg but in reality bring about the end of the world......either way I cant wait to see if I am correct

That's a great theory! Very unique too. I think it is certainly possible.

Remember when Johnny saw Armageddon when he touched his student, so he thought the student unintentionally played a role in it? Well, he saw similar things with Stillson but automatically assumed Stillson was evil and caused it. Maybe he was a pawn in it too, like the student. Stillson seems to be very weak and his henchmen control everything he does, often times keeping him in the dark. Ever since his dad, he has let people control him.

Interesting theory. Johnny as a tragic hero. I like it.

This is most excellent!! I vote for it!

If John's anger explodes like Stillson's did, do you think he might kill someone too? He goes temporarily insane? That lady's hand we saw in the vision of "Scars"?! Would John continue to blame Stillson for his anger too? Like FJ?!

I like this!

Instead of running against Stillson as President, I'd think John accepts this third king offer Janus gave him because John has no political affliation or anything that would make people want to vote for him.

I was thinking about the ending of "Saved" where Stillson shook John's hand in public. Throughout the whole show John kept getting at Stillson saying, "you don't want people to know you used a psychic...etc". Are things changing now? If Stillson openly acknowleges and legitimizes John's ability, just think what that would do for public image. It could be a false trust between them in the press. I wonder if Greg does know if at least they were going to try to bring John into the circle so to speak.

BTW, Welcome to the forum! I see this was your first post!

Also, welcome to all of our new forumers! Glad to see new faces and theories!

I've thought since the beginning of the whole Stillson arc that Johnny's major flaw has been overestimating the evil in Stillson. Sure, Stillson is an arrogant, often amoral, and excessively ambitious person who may become "evil" in the future, but I don't see any true "evil" in him yet. Try looking at things from his point of view: He never did anything bad to Johnny. All he did was meet the guy, and next thing he knew, Johnny was doing everything in his power to take him down. Would you treat someone with courtesy if they seemed to have it in for you for no reason at all? For all Stillson knows, Johnny just doesn't like his politics.

In "Saved", I think Stillson just got even more cause to hate Johnny. He humbled himself and went to Johnny for help, but from his POV at least, Johnny just screwed him over; lying to him from the get go.

In short, I do think it would be good if further complications arise in the Armageddon storyline as a direct result of Johnny making incorrect assumptions about Stillson's character. All Stillson has really done to Johnny is give him visions about a future he has some role in (what we don't know). As far as actually taking action, Johnny's done a lot more to Stillson than he's done to Johnny.

Hello,
This was a very interesting theory- I enjoyed reading it! I suppose anything is possible but something like this would be quite a departure from the original story from SK's book. When the story was developed for televison, there were some changes made to make the story fit into a series format, but I thought they were really trying to stick with the major theme of the book. I saw the old movie with Christopher Walken, Stillson really was responsible for Armeggedon. Of course, I HATE the ending in the book because I don't want to see our John end up like that- after 4 years of watching him grow thru his struggles, the book ending is tragically sad. I guess we'll have to see how things play out.

But that would make this an even better plot twist, simply because it is a 180 from the book! Excellent idea...

P.S. It's not a "spoiler" because it doesn't reveal anything that is absolutely going to happen in a future ep. This is a fan's opinion, not a filmed scene.
