Hi, I usually just lurk, but I figured since we are talking about Elliot's lack of his wedding ring on his finger, why not talk about why Olivia has a wedding band on her right hand? We know she is not married or in a relationship, so why the ring?



Yes, I know it's actually MH's own ring and she always wears it on her right hand instead of her left in real life which is kind of odd. I've heard that wearing it on the right hand meant that you weren't really committed to the relationship. Yet she always wears her engagement ring on her left hand.

She wears her wedding band on her right hand for the show...she isn't married there and it is a way to keep her wedding band on all the time....

I think you can wear silver or gold for a wedding band. It depends on the person/couple and their choice or preference.
However, the ring that she wears doesn't really look silver, it looks like it is white gold. Or platinum. Which is the most expensive type of wedding band to have. My guess, since MH obviously has the money for it, I would think she is wearing platinum. I know that if I had that kind of money, I would too.

I've always noticed Olivia wearing some type of band throughout the series. I noticed it more when Olivia's mom died. I always just assumed she wore her mom's ring. Not necessarily a wedding ring, but some type of ring. My mom gave me my dad's wedding ring when he passed away. It's big, I know it's a man's ring, but sometimes I wear it. It's a sentimental thing. Maybe Olivia does that too? I don't know....

She's been wearing that thin little silver ring for a few years now, even before she and Peter got married. Mariska did wear her actual wedding ring on the show in Pure where Olivia pretended to be married to fool the psychic Martin Short.

Who's ring are we going to talk about next? Haung? Fin? Melinda? Cragen? He wore a wedding ring in season 1 but not in the other seasons. Melinda, well, her hands are usually in dead bodies in gloves so obviously she has to take off her wedding ring- I did see it on in Mercy when she got off the elevator dressed all fancy to see her husband for a date night dinner.

ya, i kind of think that too, and with the man thing, she does wear a mans watch, which is weird i wonder why she wears that too.....

I think that ring is actually MH's wedding band, at least I thought it was. Otherwise in Pure the only time I ever saw her actual ring. She rarely wears it otherwise it seems.
