I think the creators of Monk, and actors and actresses should be proud of the
Monk fans.

All I need to say is, this is family. This is as close to a second family fan board
I've come across in four years.

When we all have our Monk days. We understand, cause we've been
there. To watch out for each other here. We can feel safe in being ourselves here.

Since the show has started, we should be able to give the whole show a bigger
mantel for their past awards, and future ones.

HUGS
TheAuthor
Yeah, I second that.
Teresa1643
That's sweet, Karla. That's how I like to think of it.

From what I've seen all the Monk people are very grateful for and proud of their fans.

I am very proud of to be a part of this nice family smile.gif
I am very glad for knowing these people, you guys are so fantastic happy.gif
big hug to everyone
randys1girl
Thanks Karla. I completely agree with everything you've said. I also wanted to add that I owe a huge debt of gratitude to everyone on this board for their kindness and support in the past two months. You all know how hard I took Stanley's passing, and this was the only place that I was able to come and "spill my sorrows" and have people understand. I wanted so badly to tell people at work and to tell my friends around here, but of course they didn't understand what I was going through. My husband is a huge fan of "Monk" (and was the one who introduced me), but even he couldn't possibly understand what I was feeling. In fact, after a while, it was obvious that he was irritated by my constant posting on the board and my inability to go even thirty seconds without uttering the word "Stanley"-talking about the man as though he were my best friend. He started to refer to the board as "my obsession" and in a way he was right.

But you all have no idea how much you have helped me. I have now put all of that behind me, and I feel much better and am able to concentrate on other things without the guilt that I felt before.

So thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andrea

So true! I feel lost when I can't come here every day, it's a part of my life now, and I've met so many wonderful people here that I call friends, it's that good!

We are a great bunch, aren't we? wink.gif

I love it here too smile.gif

It is a great place filled with great people and I enjoy popping in and visiting. It is so nice to know that someones always home and the door is always open smile.gif

Also, I would like to say that I am extremely grateful for the people involved with the show that take the time to stop in and chat or even just look around to see how we are doing. It is a nice feeling to know that we have that special connection to our favorite show. I think it shows how much they do appreciate their fans and that is awesome smile.gif

I certainly feel at home. Anyone want to gather around the piano and sing?

(from Oliver!)

Consider yourself at home.
Consider yourself one of the family.
We've taken to you so strong.
It's clear we're going to get along.
Consider yourself well in.
Consider yourself part of the furniture.
There isn't a lot to spare.
Who cares?
Whatever we've got we share.

If it should chance to be
We should see some harder days,
Empty larder days,
Why grouse?
Always a chance we'll meet
Somebody to foot the bill.
Then the drinks are on the house.

Consider yourself our mate.
We don't want to have no fuss
For after some consideration we can state
Consider yourself...
One of us!!

I think we are all great as well. I love it here. I love being able to talk with people who are as obsessed and passionate about the show as I am. You all are truly like a second family. You have all been so nice to me since I joined the message board. I love being able to meet new people from so many different places and get different opinions on the show that we all love. It is also good to be able to express your feelings with people who understand exactly how you feel, for example with Stanley's passing. I didn't really feel like I could talk about it with anyone else, because they really wouldn't know who I was talking about. We all deserve a big hug!

Great idea, Bflogal! I'm singing. I love this board, too. I feel so at home here with people who have the same devotion to the show as I do and demonstrate so much imagination/creativity in their responses to it. I learn a lot! I think we are a unique group of people and we are kind to each other as well. I really appreciate everybody here!

I am about to go through another military move with my wonderful active duty hubby and am in the process of being "farewelled" over and over at different events. It is too sad. I would love to skip all this but you can't. By the end of June we will be in a new state, new city, new home, new job. It comforts me to take you all with me and to not have to "start over" in this part of my life. It really helps. I love you guys!

I couldn't have said it better myself.
LovAdrian
Love is really a strong feeling. People can do amazing things when moved by love. And love made us to be joined here, in this place, to write about a character who stole our hearts from the begining, simply because he was able to show us, in his personality, the vulnerability and humanity behind a, so called, troubled and inadequated soul. And like a mirror, many of us saw ourselves in our sweet Adrian Monk. And probably, for the first time, we realized we were not alone, even when we had some little (or big) compulsions or phobias.
I know many people in this group doesn't fit this pattern, but for those who do, like me, it's really a great comfort to know we can write what we think without the fear of being rejected or treated like a weird person. Respect and softness can be found here.
Thank you Monk writers, crew and actors for the courage of putting love and humanity in a TV show in a time when others prefer the oposite.
And thank you all, friends, for your kindness.

memebeck49
I came here sometime around the fall of '04--was going through a bad place in my life, and just wanted to hang out, and fit in, somewhere. I had fallen in love with the show--for alot of the reasons LovAdrian mentioned--and when I saw USA promo the board, I sneaked on in.
Alot has changed over those almost four years. There's only around a dozen of us still around from when I first came here. But, FYI, "newbies, and not-so-newbies", this has pretty much always been a warm, caring, sharing, welcoming place to be.
I love it here because it is "Anywhere the Monk is is Mardi Gras" for me. I can laugh, state opinions, agree/disagree, play silly, be serious, and still feel surrounded by friends, but more importantly, Family.

Once more around the piano---

We are family,
I got all my Monk-friends and me--

Meme Stottlebeck
BfloGal
Hey, Meme, While we're still at the piano, how about some Cole Porter? Can we sing the friendship song? Huh? Huh? Can we? laugh.gif

Friendship (From Anything Goes)

If you're ever in a jam, here I am.
If you ever need a pal, I'm your gal.
If you ever feel so happy you land in jail,
I'm your bail.

It's friendship, friendship,
Just a perfect blendship,
When other friendships have been forgot
Ours will still be hot!
Lahdle-ahdle-ahdle-dig-dig-dig.

If you're ever down a well, ring my bell.
If you ever catch on fire, send a wire.
If you ever lose your teeth
When you're out to dine,
Borrow mine.

It's friendship, friendship,
Just a perfect blendship,
When other friendships have ceased to jell
Ours will still be swell!
Lahdle-ahdle-ahdle-hep-hep-hep.

If they ever black your eyes, put me wise.
If they ever cook your goose, turn me loose.
If they ever put a bullet through your brr-ain
I'll complain.

It's friendship, friendship,
Just a perfect blendship,
When other friendships go up in smoke,
Ours will still be oke!
Lahdle-ahdle-ahdle-goof-goof-goof.

If you ever lose your mind, I'll be kind.
If you ever lose your shirt, I'll be hurt.
If you're ever in a mill and get sawed in half,
I won't laugh.

It's friendship, friendship,
Just a perfect blendship,
When other friendships have been "forgate"
Ours will still be great!

If they ever crack your spine, drop a line.
If they ever cut your throat, write a note.
If they ever make a cannibal stew of you,
Invite me too!

It's friendship, friendship,
Just a perfect blendship,
When other friendships are up the crick,
Ours will still be slick!

You know, we need a Monk you-tube to this one -- with the whole gang.

I havent been a member here very long but my day isnt complete unless I check out the Monk Message Board. I have been on many other sites and nothing can compare to this board and the people here and I agree that they do become almost like a second family. This is the only place online that I feel really comfortable. I think we all should be proud to be a part of this Monk family. wink.gif

Can someone please hand me a tissue! I love this thread because it is so true. This is the only board I have stayed on for any length of time because usually people on boards are just there to be mean and to try to tick off as many people as they can. I have yet to experience that on this Monk board. I don't really hang out much in the other USA boards a lot, but I like it here.

I would shout out group hug but since I have a thing against a lot of people touching me I say WIPES FOR EVERYONE! CHEERS! biggrin.gif

My husband was teasing me about how much I'm here, on this board. He's laid off this week so he's home evenings and has nothing better to do than to lurk in the background while I'm here.

I honestly don't know what I would do without Monk and all the great people here who make up this Monk family. I've met so many new friends here that I feel comfortable and at ease, just like here with hubby. That's not a small thing, I'm not at ease with people generally. I know, you're not really "here", but you never know, with that tricky closet portal happening just who's going to pop out of there.

meme, you've had a name change! Ms Stottlebeck...? laugh.gif

So true. I miss not being able to visit here when I'm away and it's usually one of the first things I do when I get home. It's nice to see old faces again and meet new faces. I don't even mind having to sit at the 'kids table' to make room for everyone. smile.gif

OK, if I take the age at which I had child #1 and the age I would have been when I had the last child of the second family I wanted to start I guess I would be 'Mom' to anyone between 30 and 44 and could be 'Grandmom' to anyone under the age of 25...if that makes any sense. blink.gif

Mom? blink.gif I'm up at the upper range of that, so I guess I could be a big sister. I could be a Mom to anyone up to their early twenties.
TheAuthor
Ohhh, an argument about age... No way to complicate that now is there?

Wait... Something's coming to me...

Okay. I can do this.

All matter and energy in the universe came to be in the first millisecond of The Big Bang, or so science tells us.

And, presumably, nothing has left or entered our universe since, It's just changed form.

Stars explode eventually, emptying thier residual contents across the universe where it's trapped by the gravity of planets to become atmosphere, water, and the very stuff of our bodies.

What we are made of has been here since the beginning.

And in one way or another it will be here long after we've changed form and moved on in to the afterlife (or lack of one).

But, clearly, each and every one of us - and all we are - are exactly the same age.

We are as old as time and existance itself.

All of us.

Right now.

<whew>

There. Does that muddy up the water any?

<chuckles>

Karla--
You're not even close to being the "Mom". I'm 58--I could be your Mom. *sigh* Re: the diapers at 50--
A friend sent me a card that came too close to the truth about us womens over 55--
"With aging comes multi-tasking...I can laugh, cough, sneeze, and wet my pants all at the same time." laugh.gif

Mi-- Your hubby's birthday is June 1st?? So is my hubby's.
I'd love to come to the party, but am going to my great-granddaughter's party. She turned the big One Year old on Wed.
Your "Big Guy" is adorable. They sure do grow up fast, don't they??
If I can remember how to do it, I'll put a pic of my sweet Jenna. Well, maybe later--gotta load it to Photobucket first.
