I watch USA almost exclusively and I'm very disappointed in the network now that I know The 4400 is not going to be on this summer. The series hooked me from the first episode. Like Lost, it's unique and thought-provoking. There's not enough good sci-fi on TV any more. The Sci-Fi channel plays the same thing over and over again or too much horror. The 4400 helped fill the void. If you really need to discontinue the series, that's fine, but don't leave the loyal fans hanging. I, for one, would like a real finale. Maybe a two hour special. Please, we need closure.

People, feel free to keep repeating this like a broken record. It will not change anything. It will not change the fact the creator of the show and the head writer intended the finale as a possible series finale, and they are satisfied with it. They have stated that much on this very forum, and on interviews. They have stated their intentions with EVERY SEASON FINALE of this show, always leaving significant questions unanswered. The finale was a proper finale FOR THIS PARTICULAR SHOW, whether you will ever accept it or not.

I couldn't agree more. Even if the show can't come back, I'm hoping its writers will at least do something in written form so they have a chance to tell the rest of the story like they meant to.

They already have. It was called The Great Leap Forward, and it is already out on DVD. Look it up.

I concur. I'm sick of the cop-out that they intended every season finale as a potential series finale with no real ending. This is not The Sopranos where they can just "fade to black" and leave it at that.

No kidding. When the writers have publicly stated that they know what the end point of season five will be, it's pretty clear that the story has been cut short. As more people realize the show has been canceled, our support will grow though. With any luck, I'm confident we'll get some sort of closure.

It's quite obvious from the source I cited, and the source you cited, that they did not intend for season four to be the end. They wrote the last episode knowing that it might be the last, but also allowed for the possibility of finishing their story in the following season(s). Since they didn't know they wouldn't have a fifth season until last December, it's pretty clear that they couldn't account for this in season four, which had already aired.

Now, the only reason I even read your post, alex, is because I wasn't logged in and it didn't get blocked by my account preferences. It's doubtful that that will happen again, at least in this thread, and so, I won't be responding to any more of your flame bait here. Your posts continue to remind the more experienced of us that our opposition is still trying, and failing, to stop us from working to bring the show back. Sounded to me like they knew where they wanted the story to go or at least that they knew whether or not the 4400 succeeds. In that case they did cut the story short of their own expecations.

You can keep lying and misquoting all you want, but that is not going to change the facts. The best you can come up with, is one writer saying they were thinking a couple of seasons down the road. This is nothing new.

What you keep failing to understand, miserably, is that thinking about something is not the same as having a definite plan. Writers do not work for free. They are NOT going to work TWO seasons down the road when they are only being paid for ONE. They may have some ideas about where they want to take the story a couple of years down the road, but they are NOT working on a specific plan. That work would be unpaid. Not to mention, their work pace would simply not allow for any work outside of the current season. Sorry, but all these facts make your theory ridiculous.

Ira Steven Behr, on the other hand, who happened to be the showrunner and head writer, stated several times they were going wherever the characters took them. Ira also stated, very clearly, they wrote the season 4 finale as a possible series finally. Which means they had this in mind as they were writing the episode. They had the opportunity to answer all the questions they wanted to answer, and provide all the closure they wanted to provide. No more, no less.

The biggest question on this show was answered at the end of "season 1." There was no big revelation planned for season 4, 5, or 10. They were continuing to develop the show, just like they had done from season to season. Answering some questions, and opening new questions.

Just watching Craig Sweeny's interview completely re-energizes my bring-back-The-4400 spirit. I'm glad someone got something out of my post.

I haven't seen a post from Amy Berg in a while. I wonder if she has anymore information about a book continuation for season five? She did say their had been inquiries. I hopes she returns with more news about this.
