Does anyone think that the Monk and Natalie situation will ever advance? I personally don't but its possible. Monk is still too broken up about Trudy. Natalie though is changing him in certain ways. Anyone else think so? Oh and who think Natalie is pretty hot? I don't know why but she is just hot to me.

I agree with what some one (sorry can't remember who!) said as monk would, applies here, 'never change anything, ever'. I think they'll hint at it and leave us up in the air. But I can't say that I wouldn't want to see a hug or a look... Or maybe a proposal! (ha ha not likely!)
JohnMoo
Actually i like sharona more than the new assistant, Natalie.

Maybe i just watch Season 3 so might need some time to compare about it. laugh.gif

We never know what the writers will do. I really don`t think it will happen. I`m with you , maybe more looks, more hugs. If something does happen, I think it will be at the end of Monk. We will have to use our imagination`s to figure out if Monk and Natalie live happily ever after. smile.gif

I'd like to see them together (as if everybody didn't already know that) But I'm not sure what they're going to do. There certainly have been a lot of vague hints recently, but nothing you could really sink you're teeth into.

The Kissing scene in the final episode may be a prelude for setting the stage for a new - positive or negative - movement in their relationship in the concluding half of Season 7 and since we all know there will be "tension," the direction would seem to be at least temporarily negative for them (meaning positive perhaps for other relationships) so maybe Monk/Natalie fans should prepare themselves for some heartache.

Nothing comes easy in this series, that's for sure.

Kawasakifan

I remember in the Tony Shalhoub chat that he mentioned that they will explore the Monk/Natalie relationship, or something like that. Is that what you are referring to about "tension"? Or is there something else that has been mentioned?
Jam_JavaJunkie
I, probably more than most, would LOVE to see a Monk/Natalie relationship. But will it happen? I guess that's the definitive question isn't it? I think that it was hinted at during the last half of season 6 that something was progressing..And especially with Natalie's reaction during the finale when she thought Monk was dead, and then her reaction when she found out he wasn't. For me, as long as there's an unspoken "yes, they're together" at the end of the series, I'm ok with that, as much as I would love to see them actually together before that series finale.
Bubba_Bridges
Hi Bubba here, if I would have put Monk with anyone it would have to be with Sharona. I'm not sure it would work out with Natalie though. He should be happy if he's with someone or without someone.

I just can not picture Adrian getting involved with either Sharona or Natalie. For some reason it just wouldnt seem right , script wise or any other wise.

I don't want Adrian to be involved with Natalie that way. It would change the whole dynamic of the show, it would leave nothing to our imagination, it just wouldn't be the Monk that I love. He's said several times that their relationship is professional. A bit of tension is okay but nothing more, please! blink.gif

I don't know if you've posted on other threads or boards and I have just missed it, but we missed you!!

:smack!: Where have you been? Do you have any idea how worried we were?!
Monkish1969
I've really cooled off on the Natalie/Monk relationship. I guess I always want to see the hero get the girl, but in this case maybe that isn't what's best for the characters. I don't know if Monk is capable of romance and that seems to be something that Natalie's character would really need. If they became a couple I'm not sure that it would ring true. At the same time, I can't see Natalie going the rest of her life as a single woman and if she were to re-marry, I don't believe she could continue as Monk's assistant.

As I stated in other topic, I believe Adrian has been through so rough situations lately, that he really deserves soemone caressing his hair at night, after a long day of work. I also believe natalie could be this someone. Still believe!

I also hoped in the past that Monk and Natalie would come together - scenes often portrayed in Fan Fiction - so that as you say she could lovingly carass his hair and they comfort each other at night as lovers - even mature ones - would do but I am not so sure anymore that it will or even should happen.

Here! Here!

I'm a BIG Monk/Natalie shipper, but just about any shipper moment, be it romantic or just friendship, makes my shipper heart giddy! wub.gif I'm just a shipper in general! But, Monk and Natalie shall end up together! wub.gif At least they shall if I have anything to do with it (even if it's a FanFic!)

I know I am quoting myself but, the more I think about it, the more I go back to my original feelings ( posted on another thread.) I just can`t see Monk falling in love with anybody. Maybe, someday, but for now, he is hopelessly in love with Trudy, and the memories of her. What I wouldn`t give for a man that would love me so much. I also think, Tony S. loves Brooke, the same way Monk loves Trudy. I love to see an honest, faithful husband. Just one more reason I am a huge fan of Tony. smile.gif

Yeah, I have to agree that I'm also a shipper in general. I probably couldn't list every single couple I ship, there are wayyy too many!

I also am never jumping off the Monk/Natalie ship. They need each other. For support, love, friendship, compassion, etc. And honestly, I don't think either would be happy in a serious relationship that the other wasn't in with them. I really hope there's progression in season 7. At least something to keep my shipper heart happy! smile.gif

If Monk and Natalie got together, I mean really together, in season seven, do you think the show would ever be the same? Just a question, not trying to be rude. biggrin.gif

I know the question wasn't addressed to me -- but I'm going to assume you threw it out there for general discussion.

If you mean 'really together' as in a sexual thing, I agree with you. What I'm actually hoping for in my wildest fantasies is some affectionate hand holding, more emotionally intimacy, and perhaps a kiss by the end of the season. (I know -- not very wild, huh.)

A lot of times a show will tease a situation like that over a long period of time, almost like planting a shark to jump later on if the ratings begin to soften. Once shows resolve that relationship--either by having the two characters get together or by finally removing any possibility of it happening at all--the tension there is gone and the ratings actually drop even more. I am hoping they don't go there with Monk and Natalie. You could argue there are multitude of directions to go with this after they start a relationship here, particularly with respect to all the peculiarities with the Monk character, but I've rarely seen it pulled off well and it's never produced results that were worth making the change. It's almost always seen as a desperate move by viewers--like introducing new child characters or making drastic changes in storylines or main characters. Personally, I'd continue developing the current relationship here, going as far as I could without actually consummating it, and also work on the relationship between Monk and Julie as sort of an almost father-daughter thing.

I know--I'm a buzz-kill. Sorry. sad.gif

I am a shipper, I really want to see Monk and Natalie together, but when I affirm this, I do not mean they should be together this season.
I agree with you Yvette88, when you say that as soon as the main couple in any TV show assume their love, the tension is gone and the show walks to its end.
But I do believe the authors should work a bit their relation. Until now, just a minor indication of this tension was mentioned, and we, the viewers, infer that it could might have been taking place something in this area.
So, as a shipper and a fan of the show, I really think the authors could slightly introduce more shipping moments, making the tension grows more during this season, but still leaving enough space for it to grow larger on the three other seasons to come!!!

Another thought: If we face some good romance during this season, if there will be kisses and promisses of eternal love between Monk and Natalie --( Ok, I am being too pushing here)--- I am pretty sure we will not see another season next year.....for this I really pray to the God of Careful Writing and for the Goddess of Plenty Care of Viewers´s Sake to put wisdom on the writer´s hands, and make them work on this tension slowly and nicely, but not definetively.

Hugs

No, I understand what you're getting at. I don't know how I'd feel about a hot and heavy Monk/Natalie relationship, I mean "Monk" isn't exactly "Grey's Anatomy" and its not suppose to be, nor do I want it to be. But what I really want between them is romance. Hand holding, stolen glances, hugs, and kisses here and there. Nothing major.

And honestly, realistically, I don't see there being leaps and bounds in season 7, but by the end of the show, I would really like there to be love between the two, and as a viewer/shipper I would love to see it onscreen.

Does anyone think that the Monk and Natalie situation will ever advance?

Since Natalie’s introduction, the show has been purposely building a very close friendship between Monk and Natalie, having them portrayed as being very much apart of each others professional and personal lives, and in many ways, both becoming more and more dependent on one another as the series has progressed. I don’t think the writer’s are going to weaken a relationship they have invested so much time in establishing.

Tony indicated in his video chat that the “question is floating” about Monk and Natalie’s relationship staying professional or becoming more serious. All that says to me is that the writers think about, consider it an option, but nothing has been decided upon.

But even if the writer’s do intend to eventually make their relationship more serious, I would think they would do it very slowly and subtly. I don’t foresee anything ‘major’ occurring between them in season 7, especially if season 8 is an actual possibility.

Tony also said he was “guessing” in season 7 there would be “movement” in terms of their relationship.

“Movement” – what does that mean? IMO, it means to move forward/become stronger/grow closer and I guess it could mean to move backward/become weaker/grow apart. I got the impression that Tony meant move forward.

I have complete faith in the writers. Whatever relationship(s) that they choose to introduce or develop further will benefit the storyline, the characters, and the show in the long run.

Very well said. I agree that the writers know what they're doing, and I have faith in them as well. But from what I know, and from what I've seen on this message board in particular, they have to be careful. Sure they could appease the Monk/Natalie shippers, but they could also piss off the Randy/Natalie shippers, or others who want a different couple or no "Monk" coupling at all. I guess that can be said for all shows..but still..
strike14
I do believe it will happen.

natatlie in general has pretty low standards. After all she was going to go on a date with ambrosa if not for working for monk and monk is X10 better then ambrosa. If monk can even remotely get over trudy wouldn't be shocked.
