According to a May 15 Long Beach newspaper article, CBS will allow Joe Mantegna to make a limited number of appearances on the new USA Network "Starter Wife" series. To quote Mantegna: "CBS has been magnanimous enough to allow me to do a limited number of appearances," Joe said. "I enjoyed doing that program and I'll look forward to getting back with Debra." And the Hollywood Reporter (May 16) says Danielle Nicolet has been cast in the new "Starter Wife" series. Nicolet will play a new friend of Molly's (Messing) who is a parent and the wife of a Los Angeles pro athlete.

The show won't be the same with original actors and actresses, I am Not going to watch this if they don't bring the original cast!

USA Network never intended the original "Starter Wife" miniseries to become a regular series. But when the miniseries received big ratings and several Emmy nominations including a win for Best Supporting Actress for Judy Davis, USA Network decided to pursue turning the miniseries into a regular series. By then, many of the original cast had committed to doing other TV series/films. They are very lucky to get any of the original cast back. The only major original cast member not involved is Miranda Otto. There's a blurb on the web saying Anika Noni Rose will return as well, but I've not seen her name mentioned in official trade publications.
