I was curious as to everyones favorites and least favorites (lets see how many agree!)

I will admit I did not like this season too much, or last season really. I did like 7 but I think I am in the minority in that .

Anyway...

top 3
1. Undercover, there is no comparison, best episode of the season. Mariska rocks.
2. Streetwise, had a classic SVU feel to it lot of focus on the case and I liked Josie. I was said when she was killed but it is unfortunately realistic for a child on the streets since 9 years old.
3. Paternity, As unrealistic it may have been, I loved the whole crash scene, the destruction of the car, Olivia and Kathy's scenes were so sweet, I would like to see tthem interact more. and the hug! awww.

Bottom 3,
1. Harm - I was bored and felt it really had no place on SVU.
2. Impulsive - Sex addict does not equate to rapist. What was with all the sympathy for the kid?? Casey all up in arms, crying and beating up a tiny little man, give me a break.
3. Svengali - I just thought it was stupid, like so many others a lot of hype and feel flat. If they are going to have Liv attacked at her apartment it has to be more than a little scratch, Lake's reaction was-- wait-- there was no reaction. And the character of Robert Morton was a dud. If they want to believe this guy has all these nuts as followers, give me something to believe he has something worth following.
DEANOLIVIAareHOT
Best:

1. Undercover
2. Undercover
3. Undercover
Self explanatory
4. Signature - I enjoyed the case and the twist
5. Paternity - car scenes were fabulous
6. Savant (only because Dean was in it)

Worst:

1. Unorthodox - I don't like when TV is blamed for bad behavior
2. Impulsive - Garbage! Just garbage, and one of the reasons Casey should have been tossed out on her ass!
3. Alternate - 5 personalities was over the top. I would have settle for just 1 in order for her to get away with it. Stupid eppy. Also, Liv/MH's weed wacker hair cut was a huge turn off. Aweful! Just aweful!

Should have never been penned let alone aired:
1. Svengali - Ridiculous from beginning to end!
2. Avatar - Ridiculous from beginning to end!

The rest were tolerable...

Shucks! May I select 5???? Thanks! biggrin.gif

BEST:

* Undercover - Obviously, the number one! The only eppy that made me scream and made my neighbor knock on my door to shut me up

* Paternity - Like DeanandOliviaarehot, the car scene was tremendous! Not just Olivia was there encouraging Kathy ( My favorite women ), but the part where the other car suddenly crashed into them

* Blinded - I heart this one when Elliot temporarily lost his clear sight

* Streetwise - It was an interesting plot about the rich girl who transformed into rags

* Fight - Not that I like Lake, but he never gave up on those two boys with straight A's. He was a great cop. It made me sad at the look of that name.

WORST:

* Snitch - Geez I didn't realize I dozed off while watching this biggrin.gif

* Impulsive - Teacher - Student fiasco bores me to death

* Harm - This didn't suit me!

* Closet - I'm getting bored of same stories such as gay lovers.

* Svengali - I detest the suspect and his gore art. Not my thing!!! But I love Olivia's scene when she was about to punch the baka out of Morton. Go Olivia!

Thanks QueenOlivia! Laters!

My Top 3 Faves and Worsts::

Top 3 Favorite Episodes:

Authority-Robin Williams was an awesome guest star and we really got to see into Elliot and Olivia's "relationship" with this episode! GREAT 200th EPISODE!!

Inconceivable- I thought this was a great look into Olivia's life and her feelings about having a family and what she reveals to Elliot. Emotion was shown really well.

Blinded- Yes just because we got to see a little E/O! I thought this was so sad for Elliot to get temporarily blinded and Casey to reveal what really happened to Charlie.

Top 3 Worst Episodes:

Avatar- just rediculous. It was a pointless episode.

Snitch- uhmm idk just boring I like almost fell asleep during this one...boringgggggg!

Trade- once again BORING. what is with these pointless boring episodes?? come on...

also i feel like adding something if anyone else wants to do it::

Fave 3 Guest Stars and Worst 3 Guest Stars of any season::

Fave 3 Guest Stars:
Rachael Bella-season 4 Resiliance (my personal fave episode ever!!!) I think she was amazing as a rape victim and having to hide who really raped her. She really developed a victim relationship with Detective Elliot Stabler. Great chemistry on screen.

Hayden Panettiere- Season 6 Hooked. Once again really fit the character she played and developed a good victim relationship with Stabler in the end when she was crying on his shoulder.

Robin Williams- fit the part so well. He can get into so many characters it's just really amazing to watch. Really interesting to watch him change from one to the next and stump Stabler and Benson then make Elliot realize that he is "in love" with Benson can't do anything to harm her. Perfect guest star for 200th episode!!!

Worst 3 Guest Stars:

Paz de la Huerta- played Karen Raye in season 1's Chatroom. Just...idk didn't fit the role well. It's an annoying episode to watch.

Diane Neal- Season 3's Ridicule...idk I just didn't see her as a perp...I mean idk. Her character in this episode was almost hidden.

Anyone from Season 1's Third Guy. -just...i didn't like any of them. This was one of the most pointless episodes of the series.

Also....I feel like adding Favorite 6 Episodes Ever:

Shaken- this one hit close to home. I knew a child who was shaken to death.

Resiliance-chemistry between Elliot and victim was amazing.

Responsible- this one hit close to home. It's happened in my own home.

Pandora- I loved this, great guest stars, I love the younger victim Amy and the older guest star is a great actress for this role she was in a Lifetime movie almost like this. Great on-camera skills and just perfect.

Rooftop- I like to see Elliot wrapped up in a case and Fin's perspective when it hits too close to home.

Annihilated- great episode for Chris Meloni (Stabler), really showed his feelings and love toward his family.
WarnerIsLove
TOP 3 BEST EPISODES:

Undercover-This episode was just so awesome for all kinds of reasons.
Signature-I loved this one with all of the twists and I loved the storylines as well.
Harm-Melinda was the only best parts of this episode.,but I didn't care for this storyline at all.

TOP 3 WORST EPISODES:

I have a lot that I hated, so I'm just say that instead of listing them all of here.

I'm the type that I hated the episodes that not everyone's was included in the storylines and when everyone was working together and season nine was exactly that for me: no one was really working together like a team and not all of the cast was included in the storylines or had airtime and like half of the episodes maybe more were like that this season... Also I hated that a lot of the episode weren't SVU related, it just sucked for me personally I know a lot of people will probably disagree with me, but it's just how I feel and I'm just stating my honest opinion.
Sophia2526
Great thread idea QueenOlivia

Bottom three for me:

1. Harm - just awful, nothing to do with a SVU case, preachy, preachy, preachy, Casey way shrill and preachy, case had nothing to do with the actual crime. I hate that!

2. Avatar - weird story, turning on the sun, crazy girl waiting around in a cabin for 20 years ack!

3. Fight - boring, featured the wooden Lake and the bad acting of Mrs Ice-T

Sad to say but it is so much easier to come up with bad episodes this season than a good list.

Top three

1. Authority - liked creepy odd Robin Williams and acting interaction with Stabler and the psychology aspect of this episode was very interesting. Didn't dumb down the writing as much as most of the episodes this year

2. Paternity/Undercover - nicely acted by olivia and Kathy and Undercover had a lot of suspense to it even though I didn't like them going after the only strong female character on this show

3. Savant - interesting story and I loved the little girl with the teeth. THE END

Top 3

1. Under-Fricking-Cover. Amazing job by MH here. I was hooked from start to finish.
2. Paternity. The crash scene was well acted out and I love love love love love the El/Liv shippiness. The back story was good too.
3. Authority. I'm a Robin Williams fan, what can I say? I loved his creepy character here.

Honorable Mention: Savant. It was very interesting and the whole "Can I have a hug?" "NO! Well... maybe later..." thing with Petrovsky = awesome.

Bottom 3

1. Fight. Zzzzzzz.
2. Avatar. Double Zzzzzzzzzz.
3. Harm. Yeaaaaaah, you know where I'm going. lol

3 Biggest Letdowns

1. Svengali... I just expected so much more from this.
2. Blinded. It should have been called Blurred because Elliot sure as hell didn't go blind.
3, Closet. We get weeks of hype about the Pullster and get... 2 minutes of him. Thanks, monkey writers!

Kbug,

I just love reading your posts! And ITA about Closet, that should have been an awesome eppy. Svengali, for some odd reason, I didn't expect much, and Dick and Neal were all too eager to deliver. And Blinded had such potential. The last 25 minutes ruined it!

And of course ITA about UnderFREAKINGAWESOMEcover!!!

Top three episodes.
1. Undercover- This was an Emmy worthy performance for Mariska.
2. Authority- Guest star Robin Williams was just fantastic in this episode. He brought both humor and showed he could really play a dark character. I love Robin for all around acting abilities. It also brought Elliot and Olivia together a little closer.
3. Savant - Being the mother of Special needs child. I know what it takes in the day to day basis of taking care of him. The little girl who played the character did a wonderful job.

Worst:
1. Avatar- ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ sad.gif

2. Svengali- I think I went and took a shower during this episode. Even my husband was bored.

3. Impulsive - Another one I got bored of.

You know, *almost* every episode of this season was total suckage. Including my favorites. This was a completely lackluster season, probably even worse than season 8. And you know, I guess that isn't saying much....

The Top Three:

1. Savant: I base this mostly on the guest stars, Aiden Quinn gives a good performance and Paulina Gerzon knocks her role out of the park.

2. Paternity: As noted before the crash is pretty unrealistic but still it was exciting, and good performances all around.

3. Blinded: Good performances from Meloni, Hargitay, and Neal. I was especially impressed by guest star Arye Gross who despite his character's rather horrible crimes came across as a tortured even sympathetic soul. Also notable for Jack McCoy's first appearance as DA in the Law & Order universe.

The bottom three:

1. Avatar: The unintentional laugh riot of the year, I don't how the writers will ever be able to live down "Turn on the Sun!"

2. Harm: I'm no Patriot Act fanboy but this episode was too preachy and too painfully one sided to ever be taken seriously as informed political debate. It's anti-torture stance is even more dubious given how the show has in the past has expected us to cheer on Stabler (and others) when he brutalized suspects.

3. Signature: Never once do I buy Erika Christensen (who looks like she's barely out of high school) as a burnt out, veteran FBI agent, and her wooded acting simply things even worse. Not to mention it's violent imagery seems to designed only to shock, like the writers are trying to appeal to the Saw/Hostel crowd.

Hahahaha! Oh my God! I hated this episode! It was bad writing all around, for sure, but I suppose I would have paid a little more attention to it had I not been so distracted by Olivia's hair. What the hell was that?!?!?!

Worst. Episode. Ever. EVER!!!!!

Top 3:
1. Undercover
2. Paternity
3. Inconceivable

***I have to say Alternate is a very close 4th, but Inconceivable wins out because it totally changed my perspective of in-vitro fertilization.

Bottom 3:
1. Fight
2. Unorthodox
3. Signature (completely out of character to me)

Very true...it is tough to pick three good ones because basically they all weren't very good...

but my three so-called best are: Paternity, Undercover (even unrealistic as it was), and IDK maybe Inconceivable...

and worst are: Avatar, Savant, and Authority (I expected more from two veteran cops than what was given at the end of this show...)

More than three, it's hard to limit.

Top:
Undercover-duh
Paternity- the case was a snoozefest but the crash was entertaining.
Fight-I liked it, no explaination
Cold- I was entertained

Bottom

Impulsive- this ep really pissed me off. Casey,WTF?
Blinded-again, Casey...WTF? otherwise it was decent
Avatar- Incredibly cheesy. Who knew that old man was so computer savy. A sex sleep disorder and they couldn't charge the bf/sister at all?
Authority- didn't even feel like SVU. Too many plot holes to ignore
Svengali- lame
Harm- where's the sex crime? o yea, they investigated something else after the first commercial break.
ETA: Unorthodox- I forgot this ep existed

This season was not good. The writing really sucked to the point where every episode was almost ruined in some way. My favorites for season 9 were mostly for being entertained, while that's important I feel like good writing is something that SVU always held their hat on. I hope they step up in s10.

"Inconceivable" was just alright for me. I understand Olivia wanting to be a mother, I think for most women it's natural. But I hated that whole adoption thing at the end. I feel like it was just tacked on there and it made me mad b/c I feel like after nine years there is still so much about Olivia we really don't know. I feel cheated as a viewer, especially when I know she is one of the two major/lead characters on the show.
Mad4SVU
Just this season alone?

Best: (not in any particular order)
1. Alternate- I thought it was a great season opener and it brought back SVU what it used to be
2. Paternity- I agree that the case was a bit of a snore but the car crash and hospital scenes were emotional; I've said this many times before in various threads that this episode Isabel Gillies really shone her true acting chops, it's about time SVU really let it shine instead of her usual brief two-second appearances.
3. Savant- great funny moments; Chester putting his hand on Fin's leg pretending to be a gay couple and Katie asking for a hug to Munch and Judge Petrovsky, as well as touching Fin's ponytail.

Middle, honorable mention (again, not in any particular order)
1. Blinded- Casey's performance was great, she was a bulldog as she once was in season 5 when she first started; also loved Elliot's performance as well, especially where he told Casey that he has a child on a way and it terrified him the most that the thought of never seeing the baby got to him.
2. Implusive- Another Casey killer performance
3. Authority- Although it's not my favorite "big" episode, I give it credit because I love Robin Williams and I love Munch in the pillow fight
4. Cold- Although I think Casey's departure was a rip-off while Chester, who's only been there for a good year got a big bang (no fair!) I think the finale left a lot of questions to get ready for season 10, it has us guessing and speculating for season 10.

Worst (once again, no particular order)
1. Trade- it bored me
2. Harm- Although I liked Casey and Warner's performances, the episode was a snooze
3. Snitch- snoozer

I don't think it was a bad season at all, there's been a lot of performances that really stood out, that should be highly recognized from the guest stars and the cast itself.

Okay, I just found this thread so I'm a little late responding. But I wanted to play too and this is a great question to sort of get everyone’s POV about the season, so here goes:

I must state this stipulation first though; there are three episodes from this season that I haven’t seen of the 19. So that must be taken into account in the interest of fairness. One of those is “Paternity.” I do notice that the EK shippers like the EK in it and the EO shippers love the hug. So it seems to be a somewhat popular pick.

Top-
“Undercover”
“Authority”
“Blinded” or “Signature” (Can’t decide which one I like more between these two).

I also enjoyed the sense of humor in “Alternate.”

Bottom:

“Harm“-One of the things I prize about the writing on SVU is that they try to keep the complexity of issues. They don’t spoon feed you one-sided polemics and expect you to take it seriously and not to question it. They show you why some issues are hard to come to a decision about because there are valid points on both sides. This episode failed in that aspect. You’re less likely to sway people to your way of thinking by this sort of job.
“Avatar”
“Inconceivable”

Sorry. I'll delet it.

I honestly can't say I have any picks that I liked. The entire season pretty much stunk. Infultrated was maybe the only episode that came close to being considered good but that's pretty much it for me. Paternity was bad, Avatar stunk, Blinded had the worst story line, Fight was the worst episode SVU may have ever made. I could go on and on but I think perhaps I should stop. I just can't think of anything season 9 developed that deserves to be considered "Best."

I liked "Infiltrated" too. QO is right, though. That was season 8.

I'm sorry to hear that. Watching last season must've completely sucked for you. Did you get to see all of the episodes? And of those you found almost none palatable? Also are you just watching season ten in the hopes that it'll get better, since you found 9 so disappointing?

I did mean "Undercover." I'm sorry. I am really bad with names of episodes. Season 9 was very disappointing to me and I do still continue to watch SVU because of the hopes that season 10 will be much better. Mariska being on the show is also a large part of the reason why I continue to watch.
Svu_obsessed_chic
My favorite three from season nine are

1. Undercover-- Mariska was freakin incredible in this episode

2. Signature-- This has to be one of the most intense eppys ever, I thought it was twisted and very interesting, excpet I couldn't sleep for a couple of days after watching!

3. Paternity-- loved this eppy alot and the ending was definetely very good

also I really liked the episode blinded, I think diane neal did a great job in this episode

least favorite three are

1. avatar- just dumb, not entertaining at all

Harm- way too politicaly correct

Snitch- episode really just didn't do it for me

My three faves:

Authority: I know it was weak with all the plot holes (especially the end), but I LOVE Robin Williams and when he was faking those voices, I laughed so hard. "Please Hold". Lol!

Alternate: Probably strongest in the storyline apart from the ridiculous photo with the book in the background.

Signature/Svengali: Even though Elliot wasn't in Signature I liked it and Svengali was pretty cool. I love the serial-killer episodes.

Re-watchable:

Paternity:
Only for the hug. The rest was a bit crap. And by a bit, I mean a lot.

Streetwise: I really enjoyed this episode. It was a bit odd, but I liked it, especially the ice-cream/pizza scene. "Sprinkles?"

Blinded: Cause Liv fought for her man.

Closet: DOWN with Kurt. I really only liked this episode cause it reminds me of all the uproar which occurred when we found out Bill Pullman was going to play Olivia's boyfriend. And then he was in the episode for about.....30 seconds. Made me laugh SO hard.

Three Worst:

Trade:
Lost interest very early on.

Avatar: Four words: Turn on the sun! This episode was SO random.

Harm: I'm sorry what? I fell asleep writing the title of the episode.

Me too considering how up-in-arms people were when it comes to Olivia's personal dating life. I was one of only a few of us that said I will wait to judge until the show is aired to judge him. But it definitely was funny to only see in the show for a few seconds and he did the right thing by her. He told them what they wanted to know.

Okay, I've waited awhile before answering this one.
Let's just say...Season 9 was NOT one of my favorites. It was dissapointing.

That said...here's my tops and bottoms:

1) "Undercover". I haven't held my breath through an episode of SVU for a long time. The basement scene just twisted my stomach into knots... and even though I was expecting a 'near miss' for Olivia, I WAS NOT expecting it to go the way it did. I think Mariska raised the bar on herself in that one.

2) "Alternate." I've re-watched this recently. It wasn't nearly in the ballpark of Undercover...but Cynthia Nixon really blew this one away. And the banter between the detectives was back. It wasn't perfect...but it really was good for an opener.

3) Hmmm, having a hard time deciding on number 3. It's a tie between "Paternity" and "Inconceivable." The case in Paternity was compelling enough to hold my interest...but lets face it, the whole ep was in the last 20 minutes. The accident, the birth of Eli...and of course, the hug, bumped it to my tops list.
But "Inconceivable" held special interest for me...having gone through years of infertility treatment myself...the episode was extremely well done (trust me, it was discussed in length in the infertility chat rooms, it was agreed that looking through the eyes of those who have been there, the subject matter was handled carefully and truthfully.)

And now....in the cellar:

1)"Unorthodox." Just boring, and I didn't like the way even Elliot seemed to side with the rapist, using the fact that he had seen rape on t.v..as being a defense? It was just poor.

2)"Blinded." The hype of Stabler's blindness, being just a blur, was really lame. Chris Meloni should have been P.Oed with how that turned out.
And the pi$$ing match between Casey and Olivia...what the heck was that?

3) And another tie for 3rd. I thought "Fight" really blew chunks. Not even worth rewatching. And does "Avatar" even need an explanation? Horrid.

May TPTB eat their Wheaties this season, may the writers pencils be SHARP and their creative juices overflowing... and we get the Season 10 we're hoping for (and it really is possible...look at how well the Mothership did this past season...even CI had some very noteworthy episodes. Things can turn around quickly... smile.gif )

I can't even come up with a good episode for season 9. I hope season 10 will be ten times better.

Season 9 was pretty crappy but I liked a few.

Best:

1.) Undercover (Yeah Mariska was freakin awesome in this eppy. I can smell the Emmy!)
2.) Avatar (Yes! I am one of the very few who liked the difference this episode brought! Maybe because I am an idiota when it comes to video games and I had no idea 'Second Life' even existed let alone know that thousands of people play this game. I come from the Mario Brothers generation and I grew out of my video game phase a long time ago...)
3.) Authority (Robin Williams was the 'bomb' in this episode. LOL!)

The rest fit into the Worst chategory. Sorry SVU writers but you all struck out with this season. Big fat Looserville! LOL!

The only good one in my opinion was undercover. Let's hope season 10 is better, it's the last season(well whats known) of Chris and Mariska.

How can you say Authority was one of the best?????????? The ending was stupid, there were a lot of flaws in the script and it made the detectives look dumb. Although I do agree Robin Williams was good then again he is a great actor but this episode was one of the worst.

The best so far this Season :

Undercover
Savant
Streetwise

The worst

Authority
