What about you?

I currently work at a fabric store, I used to be a dog groomer. Last year this time I was on my way to an internship to be a veterinary Tech, but I worked for a jerk and it didn't work out. But it was the best thing to happen to me. (didn't think that at the time!) Anyway...
I lead a pretty hectic life! Between moving and work and my dogs ( I have a tri colored long haired chihuahua named Dondi and an Austrailian Cattle Dog named Sheila)...

I'm a retired pet store clerk but before that I bred and showed Keeshonden; bred parakeeets, cockatiels and finches for fun. Between Monk seasons I crochet, knit, read and spend as much time as I can avoiding any work that has to be done.

Since Monk is on three times a day now, there's rarely a time when I'm not watching it.
What else do I do?? Not any more than I have to
...
I'm "retired", so I do lots of hobby-type things. Lots of crafts, listening to music, dancing, singing (when I'm home alone), cooking, cleaning, and whatever else I didn't have time for when I was working. Boring, but I love it.Meme

I love kids and I'm a teacher. 26 years and still going strong! I have to move on to a new Army post with my active duty husband this summer. So while I am teaching 7th and 8th graders this year, I don't know what next year will bring (as far as grade level and subject).
I have so many interests, its hard to list them all, but I tried to put some of them in my member profile. I read constantly, sing in a choir, scrapbook, craft, and quilt sometimes, pet my cat, Whispur, and end the day with a Monk episode. Ahhhhh, the life!
I watch at least one episode of Monk every day. THANK GOODNESS for the DVDs of the first five seasons!!!! I am getting impatient for the season six DVDs because I still haven't caught them all.
I turned into a crazy fan after the last Monk Marathon (late January I think?). And since then I have had Monk on the brain. I think Tony Shalhoub is an amazing actor. I also really appreciate the folks at this forum. I was never a part of anything like this before and I am enjoying it.

When I'm not watching Monk I, of course, still walk to school. (Thank God it's almost end of the school year)
Other things I do when Monk isn't in the TV...I watch House M.D the episodes I haven't seen yet or do other things...I read book, ride a bike (when is sunny), play in games with my nieces and a lot of other things...
It's too much to write them all...

Never underestimate the power of "boring." I relish it, and seek it out at every opportunity. Nothing's going on. That's gotta be what heaven's like.
When I'm not watching Monk, I'm fishing, writing, or watching boxing.

Geez, it seems like I am forever at work! I work for a transportation company as a reservationist for people who are disabled, so my job really keeps me busy!
I tend to overload myself with Monk to the point where I can't watch any more (For a while, although I know that sounds crazy, coming from me). So I usually give myself a little break and then get back into it. In the words of Harold... I have to watch it when I'm "fresh". If I watch too many I get "all stressed out"!
Andrea
PS: I am planning on buying Season 5 ASAP. The last place I looked, the price was insane. They wanted $70! Not that Tony and company aren't worth that, but seriously!

I'm a dog groomer, and have been for the last 24 years. I used to own my own grooming shop in Glendale Heights Illinios. Now I work for a pet store, and that's where I met Kees.
I love to read.
I spend time taking care of my animals: 3 whippets, 3 cats, some African cichlids, parakeets, canaries and finches.
I like to look for Rosenthal animal figurines on eBay. Don't buy too many, just drool over them.
I've started to write a little Monk fic. "Little" is the key word here.

In those rare moments that I'm not watching Monk...
I'm writing Monk fan fiction.
It wasn't always this way. I completed a degree in Electrical Engineering, only to find I hated working in the field. Since then, I have taught Science and English in a Christian school for six years, followed by homeschooling my daughter from second grade through 12th grade. She graduated last year at 16, and is now attending nursing school on a scholarship (and is on the dean's list

-- proud mommy!).
My husband is bi-vocational. He's an mild-mannered engineer by day, and a pastor of a small church on the evenings and weekends. As a pastor's wife, I function as the church secretary, lead a woman's Bible study, manage the church web site, and edit (audio) and post his sermons online. I've also written a series of puppet shows that teach Bible stories to children in a fun way.
After my daughter's graduation, I considered returning to work, and was contemplating my options when I got sick. I had surgery to correct the problem in February of this year. While recovering at home, I got
totally addicted to Monk. When the season ended, and I got caught up on the former seasons, I felt this void. When I saw the commercial where Dr. K suggested taking up a hobby, I started writing my first Monk fan fic.
Now I find myself totally addicted to writing. And I hope to (after a couple more fan fics for practice) try to develop my own original detective and attempt to write a (probably truly dreadful) mystery novel. But hey, a gal can dream, can't she?

Is there something else to do besides watch Monk? Okay just kidding. Sort of.
I work as a paralegal. For fun I love going to baseball games (although my poor Reds really, really suck this year), travel, play my mandolin, go to horror movie conventions. I have a rather eclectic taste in activities. It must be the Gemini in me.

I am a teacher, languages teacher graduated, and I am not working for a while. I am taking care of my baby and the house ( housekeeper....) for at least 6 months, to get everything settled again ( my baby was missing me so much he was facing huge difficulties at school, and my marriage was going down, down.....I had to fix it!)
then later I will go back to the market....or i hope so. I am taking back my studies for my Masterīs degree, so I am not sure abt the future yet.
My husband is Captain in the Military Police - over here we have the Civil and the Militar one, but this last one is not related to the Army. Military gets the bad guys from the streets, Civil arrest them, sort of this.
Well, I became addicted in the beggining of this year, after leaving my former job as export agent ( I know, a teacher working with exportation?? to CHINA?? Geeeee

).
I used to watch Monk on my cable TV and local TV, but didnīt have time for more things. Then, with extra free time, I discovered this board, and fanfic, and lots os good things on the web abt Monk and Tony Shalhoub - what a great actor!!! - an then I become addicted. I imported two books already, waiting them to arrive to dig them. Meanwhile, I stop a bit here and there, fanfic, to follow Bflogal stories and other that are as great, and wait ītill next season arrives......
Uff!

Great Thread!
I work a lot to say the least.
First I get my son off to school then...
I work in an elementary school during the day as in class support for special education/resource room, and also as a 1:1 for children with special needs.
I am also an Administrative Assistant / Office Manager for a Non Denominational Minister who performs Marriage Ceremonies in several States. I set up and run two websites for him and I handle all of the office business and clients. I also do all the advertising.
My next job is that I am an evening secretary to a Religious Education Director. I help to run our Religious Education Program. I am also a teacher for this program. I teach 6th grade for the last 11 years, before that I taught 8th grade. I sub for any grade level when needed.
I also work for a major tax preparation firm as a tax preparer during the tax season.
Just to give some perspective... I do all these jobs in the same day. My day starts at 6:00am and doesn't slow down until about 10:00pm then I try to wrap everything up so I can get to bed by 12:00 midnight.
I have a husband and two children, my daughter is 22 and my son is 12.
We have two dogs a German Shepherd and a Pomapoo, a parakeet, a hamster, many fish, and a rabbit
So as you can see I do not have much spare time. But in the little I do have it is Monk all the way. I end every night with a few Monk episodes thanks to the DVR and my DVD's. I also enjoy popping in on the boards and spending a few moments with all these wonderful people.
When I am on the boards or watching Monk I can relax, unwind and try not to think of all the work that I did that day or will need to do tomorrow.

Watching Monk has help me relax but I also enjoy reading, gardening, walking and music. Speaking of music does anyone know who performs the song "Paralyzed" ? I have just heard it on the radio the last couple of weeks. There is a line in it that goes something like "I've got a place on my face for you " and of course I enjoy coming here and exchaning chats with all you wonderful Monk fans !!

I draw, do beadword, make chains and chain maille, argue with The Cat, try to reason with Rufus, clean, walk, read a lot, bowl on the Wii, build houses and create custom characters on Sims 2 Pets and Seasons that I never actually use. I also like amateur photography, walking, day dreaming, solving puzzles, research on just about anything, doodle things on the computer... That's enough, right?

I work in sales...for now. I work for the wonderful World of newspapers & things aren't great right now ....but I'm trying to tough it out..... at least until I deem it not worth the stress anymore. I'm actually looking forward to the possibility of finding a new job....a new start...a new adventure. GOD...I wish I could act. LOL
In my spare time I unwind by spending time watching Monk & House MD & other shows & visiting & posting on said boards & spending time w/my friends & family (they are close by, thank God). Friends & family keep me JUST on this side of sane. Plus, I have my animals...they always look at me like I'm the best thing on Earth.

I also like to read & go see movies. I'm the type of person who can't stay still for very long so I enjoy activities that involve some adventure... hiking, white water rafting...etc.

What do i do when i'm not watching MONK?
Umm....i go out with my friends, we have a big laugh all the time we just find random things funny. I go shopping with them Oh it is so fun cause we drag each other round to the shops we each want to go in and we all end up going to McDonalds or someplace to get lunch and we just sit there choking on our drink (we don't talk when we are eating, much, cause it's rude to talk with your mouthfull) cause we laugh too much!!, i go to my nan and grandads house to stay, i also like to read books and write poetry, i like to go online too.
I do loads i go for big long walks whenever i can and stuff.
Oh then theres school, most of my time is consumed by school but all that other stuff mostly happens at weekends or during holidays but seeing as i finish my work placement next week, i'm in school five days a week again instead of three, and because of that our class has more time to do work and our teacher said as soon as we finish our work (for all three health classess all doing different units!!) we can leave for summer woo yeah!!! (I'm going back though for another two years to do A-level health and social care and maybe Art and possibly English (our sixthform is like college only in our highschool so i'll probably leave when i'm about nineteen.)
Apart from all of that my lMONK has my life Lol!!

When I'm not watching Monk I'm working as the college archivist at a small liberal arts college in Ohio. I love my work and have a tendency to stay too late and get there too early so it consumes quite a bit of my time. When not at work OR watching Monk I enjoy reading mysteries (lately I've been very into British mysteries), listening to music (I lean toward standards but I also like classic rock), being with friends and family doing anything, going to wine tastings and sharing with others great wine finds, and visiting casinos.
I also enjoy playing golf and watching football (Go Bengals!), baseball (Go Reds!), and curling. Don't ask me why I put in that last one, I just got completely fascinated by it during the Olympics. I mean it's a sport with brooms! It's the ultimate Monk sport!
I have tried my hand at fan fiction for other shows, but I still haven't made much of an attempt at it with Monk. Maybe when I have some free time?

Curling? I fell in love with curling during the winter Olympics too! My family really gave me a hard time about it. It's nice to know I'm not alone.
Maybe there is some Monk connection there. Not only do you have brooms, you have sweepers, and rocks. It's like the perfect Monk winter sport.

So you can imagine how excited I was when my home town decided that it's going to build a ice rink in the hope of becoming the "Midwestern Home of Curling". I'm not kidding! Sigh. Work, i'm an animal groomer, I watch pets when people go out of town, and a cleaning job. I have classes. Then I come home, clean the house, take care of my pets (2 dogs, 7 cats, all rescues) and get on here. Other than that I watch Monk at least twice a day, write on one of my 14 Monk stories/scripts (I just started a new one today cause i was having writters block on all the others.) make dinner, eat it. Watch Monk (Ok maybe more than twice a day) and go to bed.

I'm looking for another job because the students at this school are verbally abusive and use personal attacks. I like traveling, reading, listening to music from the 80's-new wave/old school, going to concerts, bowling, watching tv, and handicapping horses. I have four parakeets and no children.
