OMG, this is one of my favorite movies, staring Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Jennifer Lopez and Stanley Tucci. It's a few years old now but it's awesome-and hilarious! For some reason I was thinking about it today and there is a scene that always just cracks me up! laugh.gif

Richard Gere decides to take a class in ballroom dancing and Jennifer Lopez is his instructor. Meanwhile his wife thinks he is having an affair. One night at dance class he runs into Stanley Tucci, who works in Richard Gere's law firm office. Stanley is embarrassed about his dancing and asks Richard Gere to keep it quiet.

Well, someone in the office finds out anyway, and every time Stanley walks into the room, they start laughing. Richard Gere walks out and yells "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BALLROOM DANCING!". Then Stanley grabs one of the women, and twirls her around, dropping her back into her seat. The line he says next is absolutely hysterical!

Unfortunately, I'm not able to post anything about the particular line and if you watch the movie, you should probably be at least 17 because of the language used. I wouldn't normally even bring up this movie, but because it had to do with Stanley, I wanted to share.

I was hoping someone had youtubed Tucci's dance scene but all I could find was the tango thing with Gere and Lopez. Doesn't sound like the kind of movie I get into but looks like I'm going to have to netflix it.

Oh, it's a great movie! I saw it a couple of years ago, but I was more into Stanley Tucci than Richard Gere, and he was fantastic in it! I highly reccomend it. It was a pretty funny movie and I loved all the dancing in it, and Stanley's character's passion, as funny as it was sometimes, and the really bad rug! I don't think his coworkers would have thought to laugh if he hadn't been so easily embarrassed by it and if he hadn't worn such an awful toupe.

Stanley Tucci as also in A Midsummer Night's Dream with Michelle Pfieffer, Kevin Kline, Rupert Everett, Christian Bale and Calista Flockhart. I ended up buying this for my daughter when she was 13 because she loved it so much, her favorite character by far was Puck, played by Stanley. She thought he was nine kinds of awesome, and had little fan girly moments everytime she saw him in anything after that. She liked the play in general (though she said she was disappointed in the special effects laugh.gif), but she wouldn't have liked it well enough to own a copy of her own of not for the fantastic way Stanley Tucci played Puck. If you get the chance to see it or to buy this video, you definitely should. And the same goes for Shall We Dance.

Stanley was also pretty good, though in a much less likable role in The Termina with Tom Hanks.

Fantastic movie!! Stanley and Richard are soooooooooooo good on the movie that I have my own copy here in my house.....of course, we have Susan Sarandon there, that makes some difference....wink.gif

This movie is a remake of a Japanese one, I cannot remember the name now, same good story, but with no so great talented (wink.gif ) actors on it.....
This Japanese movie is totally worthwile to watch! Nice photography indeed!!!

Ha ha! Me too! wub.gif And OMG, I just realized something... I am currently watching "The Hoax" with Richard Gere (he looks good even with 70's brownish hair!) and Stanley is in that as well!

I LOVE "Shall We Dance?" I first saw it with my husband on Halloween a few years ago and when we were walking out to the car, I told him "I have to buy that!"

That "Call 911!" scene is hysterical!

Stanley is an awesome dancer! I wish he would guest star on Monk again, but I don't know how they would do that. I guess he could be cast as another character, but die-hards like us would always remember him as David!

Andrea

PS Thanks for the info about the Japanese version. I've had that on my Netflix list for a long time, so now I'm going to move it straight to the top!

He is a wonderful actor who has been in several movies with Tony, such as 'The Big Night', 'The Imposters' and 'Quick Change'. You might be more familiar with him as the character of David Ruskin in 'Mr. Monk and the Actor', he was the nutjob actor who went all 'Single White Female' and tried to take on Adrian's identity.

OMGoodness! I knew that. blonde moment.

He is soooo good! I know I've seen him in a movie without tony but I can't think of the name of it. The Actor was really good.
