It all started when a psych marathon was on and there may as well have been one thousand commercials they were on SO much. Back then I was only watching monk but after the marathon commercials I noticed them more and more during monk commercials. Then though, I was under the impression for some reason that psych was the kind of show that cursed alot and I don't like those kinds of shows. I saw two monk episodes pass and asked a friend about the show's language. She said it was fine so after the next eppy, on sper-the-moment decision, I kept the show on; it was the Old and the Restless BTW (I have to say it also had to do with the cuteness of Shawn) After two weeks of new episodes I was hooked and even flipped on USA when I knew psych wasn't on in hopes to catch a commercial where I could revel in Shawn's hott-ness for a 30 second glimpse! Like Monica I started mid-season #2 but I haven't seen as many eppys from early season 2 (i refuse to stay up until 1 Friday morning), I however have season 1 on dvd so I there was a point where I knew each of them by heart! So thats my psych story, ah, nastalgia... But I still wish I had seen that marathon!

Way back before the show even started, I kept seeing previews about it. I thought it was such a brilliant concept, a guy pretending to be a psychic, just brilliant. Steve Franks is a genius! I knew I had to watch it. I haven't missed an episode yet, bought the season one DVD set and will definitely buy season 2. Season 1 was great but when season 2 started, it seemed to get so much better, which I didn't think was possible! And even though I've watched from the beginning, I really didn't fall for James until Psy vs. Psy (what was that, the 3rd episode of season 2?), and then I fell really hard, lol. For me to like a show as religiously as I do Psych, it has to be good cause I just don't watch tv. Matter of fact, I almost despise sitting in front of a tv and putting up with all the stupid shows and commercials. And there hasn't been a show I've loved this much since Stargate SG-1 (seasons 1-8). When new episodes air, I unplug the phone so I can watch uninterrupted (hubby isn't even allowed to talk unless a commercial is on, LMAO). Yeah, I'm hooked

So I saw the commercials before Psych even aired, and they made me laugh. So i watched the show when I could, but really didn't pay much attention (it was on the same time as stargate sg-1 so that show took more precedence). But I think it was when the SG-1 ended it's 10 season run that I had to find a new show to watch every friday night. So SG-1 ended in June of last year, Psych started it's 2nd season in July (a day after my bday) and I saw all the commercials about American Duos and they were awesome, so I watched Psych every week. Only got really hooked as of this past February after the season 2 finale... i needed more... so I joined these forums, learned the episode names. Psych is crazy and the writing + acting is genius... what's not to love?

I saw commercials for it during "The 4400," so I watched the pilot

Then TPTB cancelled "The 4400" and made me mad at USA
I still love this show though! I hope they don't cancel it anytime soon.

I was an occasional Monk watcher so I started getting Psych previews before the show started. I said to my husband, "Hey, isn't that Bud from the Cosby show?" So we started watching it with the much loved Pilot (was it really 3 years ago?) It was pretty good, but the episode that really got us was Weekend Warriors. When Shawn recreates the battle ground diagram with that cool music in the background, we looked at each other and said, "Yup...pretty much the coolest show EVER!!"

I like the comericals way back before Monk's fourth season ended. I thought it looked funny and interesting enough, so when it first air, I thought I watch it. The first thing I loved was the chemistry between the actors playing Shawn and Gus. That is what kept me tuning back. I didn't even like Lassiter until From Earth to Starbucks then I understood him even more. By the end of this season, I love how it didn't suffer from the sophomore slump that most series have. Don't ask me how many times I have seen an episode, because it is been a lot. I am looking forward to the start of this season. I can't wait to see what Steve Franks has up his sleeves.

Yes, the sophmore slump not only refers to the ratings; but also not achieving in being creative. This was the show TV Guide featured in watching during the writers strike (which it greatly benefit from)! They even said that Psych was on top of their game! How awesome is that?

I came over from Jericho, somehow I had missed the fact that the amazing Tim Omundson was in Psych. Not to mention knowing in the back of my head that Dulé Hill had a new show, and just somehow never actually WATCHING the thing...Sorry it took so long, Mr. Hill. But now I'm hooked.

I just kept seeing commercial after commercial after commercial...after commercial for Psych. I thought it was a really good concept and it looked really funny. That summer I was spending a majority of my days and evenings at a local theatre here stage managing. Psych premiered the week before we opened, so I was there seven days a week til about one in the morning every night. I remembered that I missed it and I figured I'd catch it again eventually, cause I really wanted to watch. So sure enough...you're going to think this is sad but it was August 8th around midnight I was flipping channels and came across the Pilot. Thought it was funny, loved Dulé from West Wing, and I immediately thought James was hilarious and gorgeous. The rest is history...caught up during a marathon in August, haven't missed a single episode since, and have watched...well enough to recite entire episodes. And I'm proud
So who thinks I'm nuts because I remember the day I discovered Psych. LOL!

The commercials got my attention and the I caught the pilot eppy the first night it aired and have been hooked ever since. With each episode the show grew funnier and I grew to love watching the boys on Friday nights.

I'm gonna cry because I really do miss them very much... my hubby and I loved spending time together and watching the boys act goofy and silly while solving cases.

I may have covered this in another thread, but I just started watching this year (I've been out of the TV loop for awhile). As others have said, the offbeat commercials were the draw. And I've been looking for a substitute for a cool super-sensory detective show from Japan called "Kuitan". (This detective doesn't have any purported psychic powers, but solves crimes ingeniously by eating stuff.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zc_uk5hu1VUI still would like to see a faceoff between Shawn and a culinary investigator...

While watching "The 4400", I saw a commercial for "And down the stretch comes murder". I love pari-mutual wagering so I decided to watch the show. Loved the show, stayed for my love James Roday. By the way, Season 1 of Psych is on sale for $19.99 at the Dallas area Target stores, all five seasons of Monk are also $19.99-start your collection or buy as gifts to spread the word.

I was a total Monk fan, and I still am, and I watched Psych periodically if I had time. But, thank goodness, when I watched the season finale Bounty Hunters, I thought that was just probably the best Psych episode I've ever seen ( Shules did it in for me). After that I was hooked and now it's like my life (very pathetic of me) and I just LOVE Psych!!!

I don't think it's pathetic.

I'm waiting for my mom to get tired of me talking about Psych. LOL... the show is one of the greatest ever. I've gotten more hooked over the past year to six months. it went from watching the show... to messages boards... to music videos.

I was a huge fan of the West Wing, and saw a commercial before the show started to air. I thought since Dulé Hill was in it, (he was great in the West Wing)I thought I would watch the pilot and loved it, and been hooked on it ever since. I love the connections between the West Wing and Psych. A lot of the guests on Psych were also guests on the West Wing.
Some of the connections are:
Dulé Hill - Charlie
Kristen Nelson - Mrs. Landingham (Younger version)
Claire Coffie (Sally Reynolds) - Cassie (one of Will's intern writers)
Jolie Jenkins (Sandra Panik) - Stephanie (a friend of Donna's)
Thats just at the top of my head.. I know I have seen a lot more.

I would always see the commercials for Psych, but never watched it. On Friday morning, a little at 12 a.m., I was flipping channels and landed on USA and Psych was playing. The episode that was playing was Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Piece. That episode was funny, I've watched from the point I've started to the end. I liked it and couldn't wait to see more of this wonderful show I have been missing. That Saturday, they ran a marathon and I was able to record all the episodes that I've missed, which wasn't much, because the second half of season 1 haven't started yet.
I love the show. It's funny. Shawn and Gus are a great team.

I don't know the exact date but it was during season one. All I can remember is that I was channel surfing and I came across it. It was the pilot episode but I believe it was a repeat of the pilot so it was probably during the hiatus of the first season. All I know is that the scene that I came upon was Shawn in the hallway doing his very first psychic episode with Lassiter and his original partner looking on. Lassie says "ok whose buying this?" and the jail members and all the others raised thier hands. After that I realized that the second half of season one was coming up soon and have watched it ever since. But crazy enough, it literally was seeing Shawn and his acting that made me leave the channel on, since I was surfing, and figure out what I was watching. I have watched ever since. The season one dvd came out in June or July of 2007 and I bought it right away. I have never done that. I was hooked from day one, second one, etc.

Psych is probably the only show that I have stuck with since the very beginning. I remembered seeing the commercials and I thought it looked funny and i absolutly LOVE crime shows( I now watch 6 other crime shows, I love them) and it was premiering the same day as the opening of Pirates 2. I got home late from Pirates 2 and it was a half an hour into it but i watched the rest and then stayed up till midnight to watch the first half hour. I've pretty much been hooked ever since. I now have seasons one and two and a shirt that says Psych and "I sense your followng me" on the back. I too fell in love with James Roday the minute I saw him. Although Dulé Hill is extremely sexy also! My sister and i have claimed them. She gets Gus and I get Shawn, hahaha. I just love Psych so much. I didn't think anyone else liked it as much as me. I only know 2 other people who watch it and love it besides my family(and they are my sisters friends but my friends also) That is why I go on this message board because it makes me feel normal. I just wish they could have a Psych convention so I could meet everyone. My family watches it and loves the show too but they all get annoyed when I talk too much about it. I am so happy that I watched it that day 2 years ago

. I don't know what i'd do with out Psych!!haha
P.S. My mom asked me what we should bring to a hawiian bridal shower and immediatly I said Pinneapple. She just laughed because i've talking about pinneapple and psych non stop for like the last four weeks. So today, we got the pinneapple and I got to put a bow on it just like shawn does and my mom just added some money. I thought it was a great gift, hahahaha.

I was a Monk watcher. It's also a show that my son (14) and I can watch together. Not together exactly. He watches it in a different room and then comes in during commercials to give me a replay of the funniest moments. It's one thing we can share. What is nice is that he can enjoy the rapid fire dialogue and physical comedy even if he doesn't always get the references which make the show so unique. Sometimes I can explain them, although some of the more esoteric ones he wouldn't get anyway. But that is why the show is perfect. Something for everyone. Not many shows can claim that.

I got into Psych probably because of my parents. I always get into all my favorite television shows late. For Psych I think I came in probably half way through the second season. I actually always start watching my favorite shows half way through the season. As I digress, the fact that this show is funny got me right away. It is still the reason I watch it, but there are more.
- 1. It is hilarious.
- 2. Great actors.
- 3. Smart show.
- 4. Interesting.
- 5. Never seems to get old no matter how many times I watch it.
- 6. Cute actors.

- 7. Clever.
Of course I've tried to watch every single episode from all the seasons, but it got hard and I don't think I watched all the episodes. I have yet to buy the DVDs.
