According to IMDB, he's been married once. I believe his oldest child, a girl, was from a prior relationship (not married). I think his youngest, the boy, is from his present wife.

Is Ted Levine back again with his wife? That would be good news since I heard they had hit quite a rough patch. The plot on Monk about the captain marriage really mirrored real life so it's good to hear things have improved? Great picture, but it's pretty old now. Ted's son is just a boy in this picture. In real life he's near 20 years old and his daughter is in her mid 30's. You are correct, they are adult children. Ted's wife gave up being a make up person in 1991 when she hooked up with Ted. Like Tony Shalhoub's wife, she is older than him too. I see from her bio that they worked together on the movie "Betrayed". I hear these days she runs a handycraft shop in Ojai, California called "The Olde Crow" (or something like that). I think Ted has been only married once, the prior relationship was one of those "hippy' marriages. Free Love and all that. I believe the daughter was even born in a commune. I can't help you with the nipple ring question- I don't think i want to know! Any new pictures would be great. Please keep posting them.

ohmy.gif I just want to update my post and correct the name of Ted Levine's wife's handycraft gift store is The Pink Crow in Ojai, California.

Hi! Thanks for the info!

I've been in her shop, I'd call it a jewelry boutique. Her pieces were exquisite (meaning too expensive for my budget!).

This is the last pic I have of Ted that can't be found elsewhere ... it was taken a couple of years ago at the Museum of TV & Radio ...

smile.gif Thanks for the new photos! I wish Ted would listen to the fans and ditch the caps. I like my men aw-natch-ur-al. As for his wife 's shop "The Olde Crow", as my mama used to say "somethings only worth what folks are willing to pay you for it". If you can't eat it, take shelter in it, or put it in your gas tank, it ain't worth doodley squat. I hope his wife gives Ted a good deal deal on those nipple rings! LOL!

Well said. We can be rich in so many other ways. I am so thankful for the roof I do have over my head, my job, friends , all of you here, family, my new grandson, being able to walk and enjoy the nature around me, too many things to list. In this hustle -bustle world we really do need to slow down and take a look around us.

That's beautiful, it really is. And so true. Sometimes we get too wrapped up in life and too focused on negativity that we forget the simple things and how blessed we truly are. *wipes to everyone!*

Just a little something I've noticed about marriage - it seems the only ones fighting to get married are the gay/lesbian segment of our population. Many of todays couples choose not to marry since the children can now carry the fathers name and are no longer considered 'illegitimate.' I see it more than I see people marrying - I really don't see anything drastically wrong with a couple making a commitment to each other to live in love, peace, harmony and be monogamous to each other. With the divorce rate rising, remarriages taking place...well, I just sometimes think couples stand a better chance of staying together when there is no legal union involved. It's the way our pioneer families started out when there were no preachers around on the prairies.

I completely agree with this. Being poor in money does not mean poor in life. There are many simple pleasures each day if one just takes the time to look for them...appreciate what you do have. Yearning for all the things money can buy will never buy happiness...happiness is free.

OK, I watched "Flubber" I realize it is just one of those "just for fun " movies, but it is pretty bad when you think the most interesting character in the movie is a flying robot named Weebo wink.gif Yep, I have to say that Weebo was my favorite part of the movie, playing the TV/ movies bits to show emotions, being so in love with the professor and when it/she died I just about cried ! ( I will try to forgive Ted for killing my Weebo ) It was strange to see TL play such a goon !! Oh well, bills do have to be paid after all. What year was that movie ,like 1995 ?

In defense of my gay, lesbian, and transgender friends, I have to share a tragedy that happened to 2 friends of mine. "Gina" came from a very religious family that was very emotionally and physically abusive to their children. "Gina" fell in love with "April" who was her best friend from field hockey in high school. "April "was the only person in the world that gave "Gina" love, comfort, and a empathy. "Gina" had a good job as an electrician for an un-named electric company. Over a period of 18 years, "Gina" and "April" saved their money and bought a beautiful victorian house together. Every weekend they would stay home and rehab their home. "Gina"'s family found out about the true nature of their relationship and publicly denounced her as a sinner and turned their back on the both of them. While "Gina" was at work, "April" stayed at home taking care of the house and writing screen plays. Life was good and they both had found happiness with each other and their two dogs. They wanted to get married but they legally could not. They figured that they had plenty of time to wait until the law was passed. They were both still in their prime of life. One sunny day, "April" received a call. There had been an accident. "Gina" had been crushed on the job by a huge electrical transformer that they were installing. She was dead. Before "April" knew what was happening, "Gina's" religious family hired a tough nosed estate attorney to claim "Gina's assets and insurance policy as her next of kin. The house was in "Gina"s name when she took out the loans from the bank so the family seized the house and had "April" leave with only her clothing and a few sticks of furniture that she could prove that she had purchased before meeting "Gina". Oh, they did let her keep the dogs because they were mixed breed rescue mutts that had no resale value to the family. "April" stayed at my house on my couch for a few months before she could pull herself together and move on. The family even turned their back on her at the funeral and refused to speak to the sinner. At least "Ted" had the option of having a legally binding marriage if he chose. By the way, what the heck is a "free love hippy marriage" anyway?

Thank you for the info. I knew they lived in Ojai,Ca. and thought they met during the filming of Betrayed. I see you are from North Carolina, did you know of Teds parents restaurant in N.C. ?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I got a last minute short hall run to Gattlenburg, Tennessee and I got to take work when ever I can get it these days. Let me tell you folks, the price of diesel gas is killing us drivers out here on our nation's roads. To answer your question, maam, I do know the Levine Family that owns The Holly Ridge Smokehouse Restaurant in North Carolina. Ted Levine (Stott) is one of the owners along with his sister and brother. ted inherited it from his hard working daddy after his daddy died a few years back. My wife is a waitress there and is real friendly with Ted's sister. It used to be called Betty's Smokehouse restaurant back then and used to be run by Betty and her husband Jim Branson. He and I used to do a lot of fishing together. I knew Ted Levine's parents, Dr. Milt and Dr. Charlotte Levine. They were fine upstanding folks who fought hard to establish health care for the United Mine Workers U.M.W. in Harlin County, Kentucky up in the Appalacheans mountains back in the early 50's. This impressed me because my grandaddy died of black lung and the coal company refused to acknowledge it as a work related illness. Ted Levine used his folk's experience when he decided to take a role in the movie "Harlin County War" with the lovely Miss Holly Hunter. The Drs. Levine retired down here after moving from Chicago and spent their retirement years giving free healthcare to the poor and under priviledged of the Eastern seacoast of north Carolina. I tip my cap to them for they were truly decent folks.

I thank you very much for taking the time to reply wink.gif The Levines sound like they were very fine people indeed. I went to North Carolina Appalachean Mountain area about 30 years ago with a group from my high school here in Michigan to help clean up after a storm or some such thing ( dont remember now ) Such beautiful country !!! I loved it, have only been back once , but would certainly like to come back again. I have not seen Harlan County yet but have heard it is very good, I guess I will have to buy a copy.
Thanks again for the info

I thought about The season 5 (2006) finale episode Mr. Monk Goes to a Rock Concert today and I began to think about what you said about the plot on Monk in the episode of Mr. Monk and the Captain's Marriage really mirroring Ted Levine's real life marriage. Would the writer's really add this subplot without Ted Levine's approval? It doesn't seem likely to me. Karen Stottlemeyer is pretty demonized as a cold unsympathetic liberal ex-hippy "flake" who shows no empathy or understanding towards her long suffering conservative husband instead prefering to spend her days practicing yoga, PETA -like meetings, attending no-nuke rallys, and being extremely anti-gun. So "flakey" that she refuses to allow her husband to carry a gun on the job as a police captain. Ted Levine's wife's name is (K)im, Stotts wife"s name is (K)aren. Ted Levine's son is named (M)ack, Stott's Son is named (M)ax and Jared. A coincidence? maybe. Will we be seeing Stottlemeyer get back with his wife Glen Headly next season? That would be quite a coincidence. smile.gif . What did you mean by the term "hippy marriage"? Were you refering to a common law marriage?

I hope they don't get back together ... my reasons hit closer to home: my home, that is. I was just as shocked to be served divorce papers as Leland was served with his. Only Karen was kinder to Leland in how she did it than my STBX (Soon To Be X) was to me. It's kind of ironic that STBX and I watched "Captain's Marriage" together. When Karen handed Leland the divorce papers, I said (to STBX): "That's a really sh*tty thing to do."

He asked what I meant. I told him it was sh*tty to pretend all was well with the marriage and planning the divorce all along. (The difference between Leland and me is that Leland suspected Karen was having an "extramarital-sex-affair" with a co-worker of his and Leland was proved wrong in the end. I never suspected STBX was having an affair ... with a co-worker of his and I was proved wrong in the end ...)

I've had a short relationship since then ... it's over now, but at least he didn't kill anyone just to get my attention ... at least I don't think he did. unsure.gif

Bottom line: I'm afraid of what might happen next with Leland's love life ... mine seems to mirror his ... Even "Captain's Wife" hit kind of close to home for me and STBX (in happier times)

I"m sorry if I said something to make you mad. I know absolutely nothing about how the writers get their stories. I do think the actors are allowed to contribute something, sometimes. I don't have the slightest idea if it's a coincidence or not. I wasn't refering to a "common law" marriage, as you should know, we have those down here in N.C. too. What i meant by a hippy marriage is you meet a guy at an event like a concert or a big party and get to know each other real good, enough to get yourself pregnant and maybe hang around each other for a few days or a week and then end up having the baby without telling the guy until you need some child support. These days the young folks call it "my baby's mamma". As if that explains it any better. It's a no commitment, non-monogamous, wham bam thank you maam relationship that ended up producing a child whose parents are not commited to each other. You see good examples on Jerry Springer or Dr. Phil. Hope that helps, off to work again.

Take a moment out of your busy day and say a little prayer to the man upstairs for the poor people who lost their homes in the midwest floods and count you blessings. Remember no matter how bad things are, they always could be much worst. wink.gif

I was in a crappy mood when I got home last night @ 9:45 from my sis-in-law's (being with my SIL wasn't what put me in a crappy mood ... that's a long story). So, I know I gotta get up early to catch the train for work and got ready for bed, kind of grumbling ... I turned on the TV to the TV Guide channel and lo and behold, what do I see coming on at 11:00 on USA Network? "Monk" (Goes to a Rock Concert ~~ nicely TL/Leland-centric)! Well, of course I had to stay up and watch it (at least it got me out of my grumpy mood). And, of course, I woke up late, got to the train station late, missed the train (which runs only every hour in the direction I take for work).

I had to laugh, though: as I pulled into the parking lot and watched my train pulling away, the O'Jays' "Love Train" is playing on the radio:

"Please don't miss this train at the station. 'Cuz if you miss it, I'll feel sorry, sorry for you ..."

That was worth it and I have "Monk" to thank for my laugh.gif of the day!

I use Photobucket to post pics. You upload images onto Photobucket (it's easy) and then you just insert the image link Photobucket provides you into your message here.

Isn't that a really good pic? I love it. *sigh*

And I can't believe USA hasn't been showing Monk in the afternoons!!! That's what I would watch when I got home from work. Now I can watch Law & Order SVU. Or Law & Order Criminal Intent. Or Law & Order SVU again.... mad.gif
