Because of this thread, I rented Silence of the Lambs and watched it last night. Ted is so good. What a great build he has, all lean and muscular. He is so creepy in this! It was kinda weird, hearing the Captain's voice coming out of Buffalo Bill! wink.gif

"You Are the Sunshine of My Life" (Stevie Wonder) ... to counteract: "Ain't No Sunshine (When She's Gone)" ... smile.gif

I remember when I was VERY young my dad used to sing You Are My Sunshine, a very old song
You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray
You only know dear how much I love you
Please dont take my sunshine away

Something like that , I was only like 5 years old , I am surprised I can even rmember that !!!!

Just finished watching a dvd of The Fast and The Furious (the original) with my oldest son. I'd call it The Fast and The Frivilous with the price of gas today. My Lord how times change! I saw Ted Levine and now, and are you sitting down, take a deep breath, hold on now, guess what? You'll never guess the role he played, are you ready?........Here it comes....A COP! Bet you weren't ready for that! I heard Ted Levine has signed up for #4, I hope it's not like this one a #2. Luckily for me, I don't have to worry about my kids stealing my car and street racing it. They'd never be caught dead in my beat to crap old Ford Escort. They'd be laughed off the street. LOL! laugh.gif

"The Fast and the Furious," isn't that the one with Vin Diesel? That yumdiddlicious hunk of a man who made me forget TL was even in the movie? *sigh* I wish I was 30 again.

SOTL is one of my all time favorite moves. Such great actors, and TL is absolutely the best looking serial killer of all time.!!!!

It seems that there is never anything decent to watch on TV , so I am always putting on the Monk episodes even if I am reading or online, it is like hearing your friends voices through out the day laugh.gif I guess may only we Monk fans would understand that reasoning . wink.gif

If you have the chance to see the featurette: Inside the Labyrinth: The Making of 'The Silence of the Lambs' (on the Special 10th Anniversary Edition DVD), it's well worth it for what Ted has to say ... and, especially, to hear him use the word "Icky"!

I didn't know there was a10th anniversary issue. At the video store where I rented it, they didn't even have it on dvd, I had to see it on tape. Now I have to see this special feature!

Ted of course was excellent in the entire movie, but didn't he die especially well? Very realistic and not overdone. wink.gif

Thanks Ma Barker for sharing your "take" on The Fast and the Furious". I know the influence it had on all the marines around where I live---they all believed the movie hype and tried to copy the lifestyle of lead characters--Live Fast Die Young---and some of them succeeded. Ted Levine plays yet again another "cop". This one's a little slicker because he wears sunglasses and a goatee with the same old suit and tie but essentially still another version of a "Stot" stock detective. Nothing to write home about. There is definately a lot of muscle in this movie, be it muscle cars or muscle men. Speaking of "beefcake" did you ever get you wish and receive your picture's of Ted Levine or John McCain in a speedo? If not, imagine this, You know when you defrost a turkey for Thanksgiving, and you cut away the plastic and the turkeys got that goosebumpy turkey skin palour to it? Well just imagine slapping a speedo on to that and you got your picture! LOL! I still have not watched my copy of Ali. It is sitting right next to my laptop and I can't force myself to watch it, it's so beautiful outside.

smile.gif LOL! You know what they say just because there's a little snow on the roof, it don't mean there ain't a fire raging down below! I didn't know Ted Levine was in The Fast and The Furious until my son rented it. When TL first appears in the film when they pull over that young kids car, I thought. Hey! Where"s Disher? Then I remembered this is a different show. Thanks for replying--Gotta Go! Dinner ain't gonna make itself! Talk to you later!

He was definitely robbed! The Hannibal Lecter character stole all the thunder and I didn't think that character was scary in the least (perhaps I am the only one?) Ted's character, however, scared the living hell out of me. It was one of few times I actually had bad dreams from a watching a movie. So Ted caused me to have bad dreams and I mean that as the greatest compliment. It's not easy to affect me like that.

SOTL was released on Valentine's Day in 1991, so it was made around 1989/1990 ... Does your DVD have the special features: Inside the Labyrinth: The Making of 'The Silence of the Lambs'?

OK, I made it through SOTL !! I dont think I have ever seen it the whole way through before . I thought it was pretty good , not as bad as I thought it would be. The DVD says 1990 on it and it has the 1998 Criterion Collection on it , which I will probably view tomorrow.

I think it's pretty tame actually, but this is coming from the girl who has seen just about every horror movie ever made so I'm not a good judge. I honestly thought Buffalo Bill was the only scary thing about it. Screw Hannibal Lecter, Buffalo Bill rules that movie! *insert maniacal laugh*

I used to love horror movies of all kinds. Now that I am a little older my taste in movies have tamed down a bit. I would watch the Frday The 13th ones, classic ones, cheesy ones, you name it. The Omen and the original Halloween were a couple of my favorites. I watch The Birds now and wonder how people thought that was sooo scary back in the day.

Oh yes, the good ole Fridays and Halloween, etc. I know the gentleman who played Jason in 4 of the Friday movies and I've met several of the guys who have played Michael Myers in the Halloween films so it kind of takes away the scare factor for me. I love how these guys and Ted can play the nastiest screen villains and be so sweet in real life.

I have waded through the flow of diverse postings on Ted Levine and though many deal with his movie roles, then the movies themselves and what were "geisha" , the thread actually started with a simple statment (cited above) on his role in the Monk series then took off on a journey propelled by other forces.

I would like to make comments in harmony with this original posting. The Christmas episode was recently shown in Japan and one scene that I liked was when someone threw an egg that splattered on Natalie's coat, splashing onto Monk' suit. The captain echoing the code of knigthhood in Medieval Europe, rushes to her defense, running over to the crowd demanding who was the culprit while Monk wallows in self-pity, oblivious to the needs of his assistant.

I have seen a couple of the Christmas episodes but dont remember this scene, is it in one of the newer episodes ? I have rediscovered Monk in the last few months since they started running back to back episodes in the afternoon on USA. I never got much of a chance to watch it before that so I am just getting into the plots , storylines ,characters, etc.
