I'll start this off with saying that I have no idea whether or not this has been done before on USA (at least on the SVU forum). We have one on TV.Com for SVU, where fans seek out links and articles that give us clues as to what's going to be shown in upcoming episodes (hence the name 'spoilers'). It's also a place to speculate and discuss new (or past) episodes by backing them up with arguments and information gleaned from promos and the production blog.

Secondly, I searched for a thread like this beforehand, and found none that could be used for all upcoming episodes. (Isn't it much easier to have a large thread spanning the next 2-3 episodes than seperate ones for each singular eppy?) So, if I missed something, and this idea has already been 'shunned' and dismissed, forgive me.

The main point of this is to find links/articles telling us about new episodes. (For example, the spoilers about the episode where Lake and Casey leave.) So enjoy, chat, and speculate to your heart's content.

no new spoilers as far as my knowledge goes, but if you didnt know already, the last ep, lake has a complete mental breakdown on a case and ends up taking someone hostage

Alright! I found it! Here are some spoilers for the upcoming episode where Lake 'goes off the deep end'.

THE TABLES ARE TURNED WHEN DETECTIVE CHESTER LAKE (ADAM BEACH) REOPENS A CLOSED MURDER CASE, AND BECOMES THE PRIME SUSPECT CAUSING CHAOS WITHIN THE SQUAD.
An old murder case of a teenage girl is reopened, when Detective Lake (Adam Beach) is caught in a gunfight and wounded by the case's former investigator, Detective Mary Kralik (guest star Eva Kaminsky). The shooting leaves Kralik dead, and Lake's uncooperative answers lead to confusion in the squad room. The case intensifies when Lake escapes from the hospital, and takes hostage the original case's only witness, Celina Cruz (guest star Victoria Cartagena). The SVU squad is left to revisit the original murder case, as Detectives Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Chris Meloni) search for Lake and his hostage. I don't see how this is causing a problem. There are no inane discussions occurring, nor is there spam. This runs the gamut of all future SVU episodes, instead of singular ones.

It is a duplicate thread, that is the problem...I guess duplicate threads are ok on the tvguide.com message board...spoilers are given in the episode threads ... why create yet another thread... The Admin will have the final decision...

You have to admit, singular spoilers threads die right after the episode. This all-encompassing thread may continue, with information fed in from all the watchers about multiple episodes. Think of it as... keeping the episodes alive.

Edited To Add: I'm not sure if you're insinuating that TV.Com isn't as regularly patrolled as USA, but I assure you, the moderators there are just as vigilant.

lake is like the last person i would expect to be crazy, but he is the quiet person, you cant really trust them who know what they can be plotting away in their minds

Well we do kinda have a spoilers thread(s) with predictions of season 9 and 10 (separate threads) that some have posted spoilers there. Plus episode describtions for Trade and Cold are floating around as well that could be used for what's going to happen other then our opinion on the episode after it airs.

The operative phrase is 'predictions of season 9 and 10'. This is for multiple-episode spoilers, so that even when the Cold, Trade, and Germs spoiler threads die, this one stays open. I'll respect all opinions on this, but this is not causing any trouble, besides the 'arguments' we're having. I'm not surprised that there aren't any new threads; everything is open to 'attack' if it's considered extraneous, and new threads only prompt debates. I'd rather just discuss all upcoming episodes than have 10+ different threads. I think practicality trumps what some might believe is repetitive.

Isn't there also a thread here for "episode discussions?" I think it's a thread to talk about the specifics of the actual episode, minus all the shipperness...

This is exactly what I tried to do before, and people gave the exact same reasons why it's unnecessary. Admin did not close the one I opened up. It just got buried oh-so-successfully in a matter of days. But, no, I have no problem with this one. I had the same purpose in mind.

We already have a thread for 'Closed' so why the heck do we have a thread for spoilers when they are already in each of the specific episode threads? This is what Irisheyes and I are talking about when it comes to cluttering the board. Okay, in case SL3UTH and I haven't been very clear with the objective of this thread, let me repeat:

This is a general, all-encompassing thread for spoilers for all episodes ranging from current ones to the show's very end. Since some people start threads months before an episode is scheduled to air, this thread is designed for sharing spoilers, episode information, and other related matters. This way, the actual episodes' threads don't get bogged down with too much unrelated chatter, which sometimes lead to arguments. I've noticed in previous episode threads that I'm not the only one who comments about them getting started too early. Because of that, I don't understand all the objections for a thread that's intended as a solution to that problem.

However, if people still feel strongly opposed to this idea, then feel free to ignore it. There's no reason to call it "a waste of space." Oh, and the season finale's title is "Cold."

I actually think the spoiler thread is a good idea. It should be totally different from the actual episode thread. This thread should be for spoilers and speculations before the episode airs, and the actual episode thread can be there for the discussion and critiques after the episode has aired. It can work if everyone posts accordingly, and it might keep the episode threads from being bogged down with speculation weeks before the actual air date. Just a thought. But seeing as how this site does not have a regular administrator or moderator, it will be hard to keep people from posting the wrong information in the wrong threads. So I understand both sides.
