Maybe some of you die hard Monk fans can help me out a bit. I was just wondering what the very first episode of Monk was and is it the same or different from what is called a pilot episode ? Also was it made in 2001 ?

The first episode was called The Candidate and it was a two part episode. This is also what they call the pilot. I think they are the same episode. I am pretty sure it was in 2001. Hope that helps.

Actually, I thought that Monk premiered in 2002..... I could be wrong....

All it took was this episode for me to decide Monk was a great show. I think the part where Monk is climbing the sewer ladder and taking the time to line each rung with a baby wipe was what sealed the deal for me.

It sure looks like it was 2002....
