Full Version: If the writers decided to kill off a major character before the end...

Note that this topic excludes Dr. Kroger, who probably will fall under this category when all's said and done. That said, suppose the writers decide on their own accord to kill a major character before the series ends, painful though that may be to consider. What we're asking here is, whose death would hurt the most for you the viewers if it went through that way?

Without a doubt, Monk. Without him there is no show. It was sad to watch the two part episode where he was "thought" to be dead, so I can't imagine what it would be like if he were to really die.

The one character that I could see having a major impact, but would be the most "obvious" (sorry, I can't think of the word I really want to use, but I know that "obvious" sounds bad! huh.gif) would be Leland. I DON'T want this to happen at all, but he has been shot in at least one episode. No doubt it would change the show forever.

Natalie's death would be very painful as well as Randy because I like them so much. I love Ambrose too, and Adrian definitely doesn't need to lose another loved one.

Andy Breckman said that Adrian Monk won't die therefore i don't worry about it!! I think this character would be Natalie or Leland but i dont want neither sad.gif

I can't answer this question. To me it's like considering whether you'd want to burn to death or freeze to death. Or deciding which of your parents you love the most.

Is there another choice? I don't see what purpose they would have in killing off any of them.

If the writers kill off a major character before the end, the magic of Monk will end. Rather than the unique series that has kept me watching since I found it, Monk will become just another of the tired, carbon copy crap the industry dumps out.

Killing off a major character to draw a series to a close is a cliche.

Besides, the whole show revolves on the "killing off" of a major character, Trudy, which is what makes the series so unique. So by its very construction, to kill another major character makes no sense at all.

Therefore, I have no answer to the question.

Excluding Monk, because he's the obvious choice, I think I would cry the loudest if Stottlemeyer or Randy were killed off. Stottlemeyer is the backbone of the police aspect of this show and one of Monk's few good friends. For Randy, he is also part of the force and he is such a comic character. And although Monk is the child odf the show, Randy has some of that about him. One scene that will always stick with me: Mr. Monk and the Playboy: Did you look at those pictures?

And for a surprise twist, imagine what it would do to Natalie if Julie got killed. We saw what happened in Mr. Monk and the Three Julies; imagine if it was Julie.

But to the writers: PLEASE don't kill anyone off.

Although I am a new poster, I have lurked and enjoyed the board for quite a while.
While I can accept a natural death for Dr. Kroeger as Stanley Kamel died, I think killing any of the other characters would be a horrible mistake. They already have Trudy's murder to contend with. There is no show without Monk. I cannot imagine the show without any of the other three main characters. The idea of the writers killing off Julie horrifies me. Although they may not be seen regularly, I like the idea of characters like Ambrose and Kevin being around and having he possibility of them showing up from time to time. Thus, I vote None of the Above.

I could see them, killing of Ambrose. It could be a good twist for Monk, to see how Monk would act, respond.

Ooooh. MONK AND NATALIE!!!! Just kidding. I voted for Randy because it'd give him a tiny bit more character development.

I think killing Monk off would have the greatest impact. This way when the series comes to an end, with Monk gone there will be no 'loose ends' that would leave the fans wondering 'will they ever bring the show back?'

Frankly, I don't want anyone on the show to die (the exception sadly has to be Dr. Kroger-no way will I accept anything else). I just answered the question as it was presented! tongue.gif

Kill off one of the characters! I hope not! Each one brings a distinct wonderful aura to the show. To lose one, would be to lose me. I'm having enough problems accepting that Dr. Kroger (Stanley Kamel) will no longer be with us. But, we have no control over certain events in life. So, if the writers are even thinking about asking to accept another lose - please, forget about it!

In a simpler, more rightious world, the writers would be able to bring Dr. Kroger back instead of considering killing someone else off.

...

I voted Julie. Her 'death' would ripple through the cast. She's the most innocent and redeaming character on the show (Think Lepur) in my opinion and the loss of heart that would result from that kind of trajedy would be devestating to the 'gang' and drive them apart by the severity of thier very diverse reactions.

In my own opinion of course.

I said Monk would be the worst one to kill off. But we all know that cannot happen because he is the center of the show! I agree with most posters that Julie would be the most key person to kill off. I do love the character but she is like Ambrose. Their deaths would affect all the key characters but not change the show. mellow.gif
