Ok, someone mentioned that we should start a new topic with our ideas about having a Law & Order:Criminal Intent Fan Convention istead of hijacking Tasha's thread about meeting VDO. So what do you think, would and LOCI Fan Convention be a good idea, and if so, what would you like to see there?

YES a great idea!! .. like i said .. id be happy to make buttons and i can hook us up with a guy the does t-shirt for very cheap ( at least he will for me becos he is the drummer for my band) and my cousin is an web designer if you want an offical site ! .. i dont have alot of extra money but i do have connections to get GOOD convention merch made for a great price

hmmmm didn't think about T-shirts....however, we have to be careful to avoid infringing on Mr Wolf's copyright.

Of course!!! i was thinkin convention shirt like for the diffrent ships and stuff that means things to us..

If you want to get Dick Wolfe involved it would help if you made it a Law & Order Convention with different areas for the different shows. I'm sure there are lots of SUV fans who would go along. Some guest actors have appeared on L & O and CI/SUV and then you have actors who have appeared in multiple eps.

I'm all for it and I would definitely be there. It was also suggested that a LOCI Fan Convention would be a great opportunity to launch the Season 4 DVD. It would be everyone's dream come true to meet the cast, especially KE and VDO. They attended the launch of the Season 3 DVD and met with fans so why not at "our" convention.

I would also appreciate an opportunity to see some of the highlights of NYC and visit Chelsea Piers. Other people had some good ideas posted on Tasha's thread and I'm sure they will post them again here.

i just gotta say this is such a GREAT idea !! if ANY of you no what its like to live in BFE then you will understand why it sounds soo good to me NOONE here is really a big FAN of L&O i mean i talk to peope who say "oh yea ive watched a few times it was pretty good " but not REAL fans i have noone to talk about it here especially my friends .. they are all about all things punk rock and punk rock i all they think about .. not to say i dont love my music but i also have a passion for acting and alot of respect for the actor on law and order and their other projects as well its not often i get to just do something for just myself ( the meeting vdo thing is the first thing ive EVER done that just I wanted to do ) soo a convention just sounds soo awsome .. and i also think it would be amazeing to get all of us such difrent people to get together and get along just becos we have a love of something .. really it would be showing how much people from diffrent lives have things in common and can get along .. i really hope eventually this happens and i will help however i can!

Trying to picture a NoRomo Aircraft carrier on a T-shirt and explain it my family - no one would get it outside of all the people here.

I still think we would need to have a ship/no ship debate. Valley on one side, Jryan on the other and Jc in the middle as moderator. Think of the fun we could have with that one!!

We'd have to have lots of floor pillows to sit on instead of just all chairs during panel discussions.....wouldn't that be a hoot?

And, if we're going to wade into ::thud:: territory, how about really making and selling body pillow-sized pillow cases with pictures of LOCI folks on them?

The feeling initially was for a USA MB LOCI fan get-together. The SVU fans can come, but only if they agree to play nice and keep the bad behavior and ugly words at home.....I'm kinda selfish on this and don't really want to share VDO, KE, CN, et al with anyone other than my USAMB LOCI family.....

Tasha, would your band be willing to branch out and learn music other than just punk to play at the convention? It'd be cool for ya'll to look at the "songs that remind you of CI" thread and learn those.

If KATHRYN was there signing autographs and greeting fans I would go.......even if it was held on the MOON!!!! The only trouble is if I ever had a chance to meet KATHRYN live the THUD would be on a BIBLICAL scale.......it is completely possible I might not survive........but what a GLORIOUS way to go!!!

(Also the logistics of putting on something like this are phenomenal!!)

I'd travel on my hands and knees, wearing only.....(too much info), across the SAHARA desert to meet KATHRYN. To show how much of a fan I am of KATHRYN I would even cheer for the TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS (for 10 seconds) if I could meet her privately.........THAT'S A FAN!!!!

I think the ideas that are coming together are great....
I would especially love to see the great debate of Valley and JRyan on ship/noship!!
And the idea of Tasha band playing would be fun too.....I think she should definetly figure out a way to put a spin on the theme song. Maybe she could even write a song about our favorite show!!

IMHO if a decision is made to do this, it would be a mistake to go too big the first time around. Better to be small, manageable, enjoyable and successful than big and a disaster, or worse yet, fall apart. There would need to be infrastructure (e.g. a committee) in place to handle even a small size convention. I'm guessing that, to keep costs down, a lot of background work would have to be done on a volunteer basis. If we want to keep this ball rolling, we need to keep things in perspective.

Which is why, if this ever does happen, we may not be able to have it in New York. It would just be too expensive.

Oh about where to have it--Ihave 50 acres with a HUGE old barn on it with a hayloft of about 3000 sq feet, and a covered arena. And it would be free.

Well, I voted yes, but it would really depend on where it was held. I’d love to go, but money and distance (not to mention timing) is an issue for me. I think this is a great idea.

If my hubby lets me, I would go, maybe if I bring my daughter, hopefully she would be willing to go, or my son, if Valley goes.

I think every possible avenue re NYC should be exhausted before any consideration is given to elsewhere. The fact that I could actually visit locations where LOCI is filmed would be a draw for me, not to mention the potential to meet any of the cast, especially VDO or KE. Not that I wouldn't like the opportunity to meet everyone here, but for me it wouldn't generate the same type of excitement if it were held elsewhere and I would have to give more consideration to the monetary investment (travel from eastern Canada). If it were held in NYC, I would spend my last dime to be there.

let's just say I'll never close the door on NYC, but if we had to choose between a cheaper location and VDO or a more expensive location without VDO--I think I know what most everyone would say.

That being said, you could open this up to other who are fans of the show, but not on the boards here. The bonus to the members here would be, say a members only meet and greet with VDO and Erbe or a Q&A session with them. That way we can ask the two actors whether or not they think Goren and Eames should ship.......

i agree .. i think everyone on here should get to have a questioning session!alot of people that arent on the board wouldnt even understand alot of our questions and discussions .. i know it took me abit to learn ! ..

Possible scenario at convention.........group of LOCI fans in private room with KATHRYN and VINNIE (I can call him that as we are BUDS)......everything is going great......all the women are talking to VINNIE and I am at a separate table alone with KATHRYN.........what a great time UNTIL.......some SHIPPER stands up and asks if EAMES/GOREN will ever SHIP..........KATHRYN and VINNIE get up off their chairs......move to center of room......suddenly they grow to 20 feet tall, move towards the SHIPPER that asked the question......look right into the SHIPPERS eyes and bellow (in unison) with the loudest voice I ever heard........NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!............then they walk back to the middle of the room.....shrink down to their original size......and sit back in their original chairs..........VINNIE says "Any other questions?"...........the room is silent.....(I must say KATHRYN is REALLY HOT when she is 20 feet tall).......

(My only drawback might be distance)

I would of course love to see T-shirts made with sayings from the forum (Vincent on one side and THUD on the other, brilliant) I think it would be a great idea and after reading some of the previous posts I see everyone has awesome ideas for what to do and what to make...I love it.

I want a black T-shirt with a picture of my avatar on the front and the letters "I'M HER #1 FAN" on the back. I also want a black hat that says "KATHRYN ERBE" on the front and "LOCI" on the back.

OK, my suggestion as to location would be near the Newark Airport in Newark, NJ. There is a train that goes from the airport directly to Penn Station in Manhattan. From Penn Station you can get a subway train to Chelsea Piers. Newark is much cheaper to fly in and out of than LaGuardia and more convenient for getting to CP.

SMALL is the way to go this time, folks. Maybe just board members getting together for a weekend and all descending en masse on CP. Vault might be able to get us an audience with one of the main writers. I've sent her a PM but haven't heard anything back yet.

We need to invite Christina, the cake baker to come. Maybe she could make a big cake for us?

A hotel with a medium size ballroom and catering would be ideal. Even still, we are looking at $300 per person just for room usage, food and hotel room.
