-- The Poughkeepsie Journal has an article on "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and he offers his comments on missing Ric Flair's retirement weekend. "That was the saddest time in my career," Piper told the newspaper. "The greatest wrestler in the world and I wasn't there for him. You've got to give me more than two days notice. You can't call me every fourth month and expect me to be there." WWE invited him, but it was on two days notice when he was busy filming Clear Lake in Winnipeg and was unable to accept the company's invitation. To read the article on Piper, click here.

Hi Bubba here, I thought we all knew about Flair's retirement well in advance?

Well maybe he's sheltered there where he's filming or maybe he wasn't invited until two days before.

That's understandable, I didn't think of that.

That's all I can guess Slash. I mean anyone who had watched, or even bs'ed with anyone the last couple months, knew WM was going to be Flair's final match.

Heck, I can remember can exact article from one year ago, that said the word was inside the WWE that this was Flair's final year, and that he would be inducted into the HOF, then wrestle his final match. The only difference was at that time, they thought they'd let him push Carlito to a final match over a year's time.

Sounds to me Roddy hasn't kept track of the business that much in the last year.

It is possible. People have no idea whats going on sometimes when they make movies or go on book tour's because all it is is hype and work. The only other thing i can think of is that the WWE didn't give him the invitation till two days before which screwed him because he couldn't get away from the movie that short of notice.
