Everyone has been asking for USA to reair this episode Seems your request have been answered! So Why not have this episode be the Episode of the week.
Here is some info,
In the Wee Small Hours (1)
Episode Number: 95 Season Num: 5 First Aired: Sunday November 6, 2005 Prod Code: 05006
This episode is one of the episodes that Wolf Films is submitting for Consideration for a 2006 Emmy nomination. All four detectives are featured in the two-parter, and the opening credits have been changed to reflect the two separate partnerships.
Although originally presented as a two-hour telemovie, In the Wee Small Hours part I and II are intended to be considered two individual episodes.
To Barek, referring to Goren and Logan.)
Alex Eames: There they go, Ocean's two.
(To reporter Faith Yancy.)
Eunice Peterson: I know how it is with you people. If she's white, put her in the spotlight. If she's black, put her in the back.
Ron Carver: Ladies and gentlemen, brace yourselves. We're flying into the eye of the hurricane.
This episode appears to be ripped from the headlines of the Natalee Hollway case. Natalee Holloway was a teenager from Alabama who disappeared while on a post-graduation trip to Aruba on May 30, 2005. In both cases, one of the prime suspects was the son of a local judge.

Referring to the evidence of the latex condom found.)
Alex Eames: There was a second shooter
Carolyn Barek: (about the FBI) Those people couldn't stop an asthma attack.
Ron Carver: Justice is a jagged road.
(To Goren, who is determining ink-blot freshness by poking them.)
Alex Eames: They must love you in the produce section.
Arthur Branch: It's not enough to do good, you gotta be seen doing good.
As we know Colm Meaney who plays Judge Garrett has worked with VDO before in Claire Dolan, I first remember him I think from Deep space Nine.

Thanks Jryan! The "Ocean's Two" ep!
Colm Meaney was on Star Trek: The Next Generation and then DS9. And he kicked VDO's butt in Claire Dolan.

I'm sooo psyched for this epi! Its definitely one of my faves. Of course, as all 4 detectives are "attacked" by the judge, Bobby gets it the worst!

I have read many a fan fic about this episdoe/movie, but for some reason I thought I had never seen it. Then watching it tonight, I was like, "Hey, I have seen most of this episode/movie, just never all at once."

My favorite part is how upset Alex gets when she has to read the letter she wrote requesting a new partner. It's one of the few times we see her tear up.

I hadn't seen this epi in over a year and, wow, it's fantastic. It wasn't until tonight that I noticed the scene in the club where the waitress asks Goren if he's looking for his grandkids! The look on his face if priceless. They really went all out. So many great lines, great scenes, great acting. So satisfying. Now... I wait for June....

Great scenes, great lines. The writers were very good about giving everybody room to shine. Even Barek has some pretty good lines.

I love this episode. One of my favorites. The case was so great. I have only seen this episode twice, this time being the 2nd time and the more I watched the more I remembered from the first time I watched it.
This was the Skittles episode. I was jumping up and down when I saw that. I thought that was in season 6. I loved when Barek was able to describe the club down to a T where it was like she had been there. I laughed at that. Loved the Ocean's 2 line and the produce line. 2 of my favorites. The racial profiling was all too familiar in big cities and we see it here where I live too. Kudos to Logan for getting Deakins to give him and Barek time to look in Tyanna's (sp) death. That talk show host made me mad and I gave her a piece of my mind (thru my TV). Just talking about things on TV that probably wasn't true and what she did to Tyanna's mother was just wrong.
I guess the murder and sex was kept in the family, literally. That judge was so mean going after all 4 detectives. Logan and his long list of excessive force complaints, then Deakins asking Barek what the judge would find on her, Goren's mother troubles and Eames on the stand having to relive that letter. Thank goodness Goren understood.
I think I have said enough. I guess I'll leave it there and see what other people have to say.

And speaking of fan fics since I mentioned them in my last reply, there are tons out there that have Bobby upset with Alex after this scene, but from where I am watching, I don't get that. He seems to understand that the letter was written very early in their partnership and that Alex now has trust in him. The look on his face is not one of hurt or anger, but, to me, conveys that understanding. Though I do love how riveted he is while Alex is on the stand.

It makes my little shippy heart go all pitter patter.
Okay, here is a question that I have been wondering. Back to fan fic. There are some out there which mention that a relationship between Goren and Barek happened. Since they were not on the screen together really besides this episode/movie, is this where that comes from or is it mentioned someplace else and I have just missed it? Because if it is from this episode/moive, either, again, I missed it or I am just not seeing it. I really saw nothing in this episode/movie that hinted at anything even slightly romantic between Goren and Barek.

Something I should have mentioned before everyone watched it but I forgot, was the wardrobe messup, When Goren/Logan leave to go to the poker game, when they arrive Goren is wearing a different suit, but when they get back to interrogation, Goren is back in his original suit, but now Logan is in a different suit.
Something else I noticed is when Logan and Barek leave at the end, Goren gives them a wave, I just love Goren's waves, Like the one from " Slither" after finding the cone nail and Eames says we are sending someone to watch Venus and he drops the nail and gives the guy a wave.
Also in "SelfMade" When they were walking out of the publishers office he gave the guy the wave, I just think its so cute.
I like this episode, cause it seems Logan was so concerned about what Goren/Eames were finding out. And not to sound shippy but the way Barek reached over to Goren's binder to look at some pictures I could see those two as having something going on behind closed doors.

Goren didn't seem bothered, like he would normaly if someone was poking around his stuff.

Anyone think that Barek overreacted to that look that the Judge gave her in the interrogation area? I didn't see the look as wanting to jump her bones. It was a little appreciative, but no big deal in my book.
And I didn't see any "ship action" between Goren & Barek. Although that would have been good for him at the time. He seemed very quiet & introspective throughout the ep, except when his Mom was threatened.

I didn't think there was any shippness between Goren/Barek either. I thought he would appear to enjoy having her there since she's pretty smart, but he didn't really. I don't think it would have been very professional to have any shipping the first time they work together. I liked how Eames and Barek were very friendly to eachother, and Goren and Logan, even though they don't spend time together very much. They all acted well together. It was funny when Logan seemed curious about what new information Goren and Eames had (like a couple of classmates

)
I didn't catch the look that Barek gave to the judge...that's why I like Eames' reactions to things. She always keeps a straight and smiles if anyone talks straight to her face (except for the occasional hesitated look.)
Vincent must have had a blast acting out anger on the show, he likes to do that stuff.

I had the exact same reaction. "That's it?! That's the scene that lauched a thousand fanfics?" I think Alex was still distressed that it came out, especially the way it came out, which I could see as justification for them I guess. Maybe she's just upset that he accepted it so easily...

I think it was like I said, he understood that the letter was written years ago and they have since moved on to a much better place in their partnership. I mean, Alex has defended him time and time again since then. Plus, he could surely see how upset she was to have it revealed in such a public manner. You could tell that Alex was not upset that she had written the letter; she was upset that Bobby had to hear she did and to have anyone think she did not trust him, when she does now. Her eyes were practically begging him to understand. And I like how she came up with a way to make her point without compromising anything because if she came out and said things like "he is a wonderful partner, a good frined, etc", then the judge's attorney could re-cross and say she wsa only saying those things because she had feelings for Bobby. (Which in my shippy heart, she does.)

Actually, I think she was kind of upset or she just realized that writing the note was a mistake. When she saw it, she looked like she had forgotten about it and that it seemed like something she would never write now that she got to know Bobby. It was so nice when she slightly smiled after he walked away =P

I think that this episode sealed the deal for me on shippiness. To me when she was on the witness stand, the sadness (maybe a little shame too) in her voice as she was being forced to read from her letter was moving. The looks that thay gave eachother were deep.
Who knows, maybe KE felt the same way about VDO in the beginning of the show in real life.
IMO, that closeness was not there in Season 6, but has returned a little bit in Season 7.

Yes, I think she overreacted to the look the judge gave her. The same thing happened in another episode, i think it was "On Fire" when Goren and Eams are in the house of the older son, the "crucifer" and Eams mentions that he was flirting with her while his wife and baby were upstairs. I did not see it. In other episodes Eams thinks some lady is giving Goren the goo goo eyes, and I did not see it either.
I could have seen a romance between Goren and Barek. She seems very smart and I am sure they could have lots of things to talk about, but I don't remember seeing any indication in any episode about that.

From thereelvincentdonofrio.com (I'm not good at explaining things.)
95/96. In the Wee Small Hours 11/6/05
IN TWO-HOUR EPISODE BOTH SETS OF SERIES DETECTIVES PROBE DISAPPEARANCE OF IOWA TEEN DURING HER TRIP TO NEW YORK -- In a two-hour movie featuring both sets of the series' detectives for the first time -- a visiting Iowa teen disappears during her New York City school trip, prompting a massive media frenzy that engulfs Detectives Goren , Eames, Logan (Chris Noth) and Barek (Annabella Sciorra) when their prime suspect Ethan, guest star Matt O'Leary, is a powerful judge's son. The case widens when it appears the accused's philandering father Harold, guest star Colm Meaney, is a co-conspirator who acted to protect his son -- and might be a murder suspect himself -- but he is not afraid to punch back hard against the investigators.
It is one of my favs and I believe a favorite of many CI fans.
