From the producers of American Idol, comes a new reality show that is, according to the ad in this week's TV Guide, twice the thrills. Double the competition. Yes, the show is called: Can You Duet? It will be on CMT after the CMT Music Awards on April 14. Gee, does this sound familiar? Steve and James should demand money from this series.

We have been talking about it on the Nashville Star forum. I think a couple folks there tried out.

AIGU! "Viva Hollywood" and now this? Now why doesn't US television have something like "Dangerous Invitation" (you can see links I've put up in the watercooler thread)?

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, most celebrities don't want to do their own stuntwork (which includes being catapulted into a swimming pool or facing a firehose at some considerable strength) unless they're heavily insured...

At least there are reports that an American version of "Human Tetris" is in the works...

Well, I can only speculate why Psych might seem out of place in a Japanese context:

1) Not enough food being shown. Now, if every episode were like "Meat is Murder...", then Japanese audiences would be really receptive (remember, this is the country that brought us "Iron Chef").

2) A classic J-drama cliche - either a close friend (or lover) has to die in some freak accident or a serious ailment (I'm serious). Would you want Gus to go through either of those things? tongue.gif

Comedy programs in Japan, on the other hand, are just zanier on average compared to their Western counterparts. Outrageous sets, characters, everything.
