I'm considering making a video tribute to him, but I would like to know, what are your favorite episodes and scenes with him?

Three of my favorite episodes, the pilot, Red Herring, and Panic Room. Lots of great sences through those episodes.

Garbage Strike - the scene with the falling garbage bags.

"Makes a Friend"--The scene where Monk tells Doctor K. about asking Hal to be his best friend

I forget what episodes these scenes come from, but I also like the scene of Dr. K. singing "John Henry" and the scene of Monk singing "If Ever I would Leave You" to avoid an uncomfortable question.

Mr. Monk and Mrs. Monk is one of my favorites. The scene where Dr. Kroger cries for Monk and the later scene when he rushes over, straight from the tennis court, to help Monk, demonstrate his terrific range.

Also, the exchange in TV Star when they discuss the birthday party Monk wasn't invited to and the therapy seesion with Sharona in the Girl who Cried Wolf.

"Mr. Monk and the Really, Really, Really Dead Guy." That is the one where Dr. Kroger is singing "John Henry". I know it is a mordid title, but that is the name of that episode. I love that episode. I also love, "Mr. Monk Joins a Cult." This is the episode where Kroger say: Will some one look after Randy? If I remember correctly, Stanley's favorites were "Mr. Monk Takes His Medicine" (I love that one) and "Mr. Monk and the Big Reward." I still imaging Dr. Kroger ballroom dancing (the hobby Dr. Kroger said he took up.).

One of my favorites is the cult episode in the empty room when he is talking to Monk.

Another is Buried Treasure when Monk is asking him about the watch and then at the end when he wants to call Harold.

My most favorite Monk/Kroger scene is from Mr. and Mrs. Monk when Dr. Kroger comes over after Monk has found out that Trudy may be alive. He's so gentle and reassuring with him, it made me cry. I can still hear him saying "I'm not going to believe it until I've heard it from you."

I also love "The Panic Room", where he comes into Adrian's house (that had me ROFL, Adrian being so calm as he was calling Dr. Kroger while the monkey was destroying his home), and tells him that he's proud of him for taking it so well.

And of course "New Shrink". That is one of my favorite episodes ever.

A video tribute to Stanley sounds wonderful. I cannot wait to see it. However, it simply must include "John Henry". Stanley seemed so proud of that when he posted on the board, telling us it was going to happen.

Mr. Monk Gets a New Shrink is my favorite one with Dr. Kroger. When he wants to go away, leave the job, retire.

I like Mr. Monk and the Buried Treasure as well. It was also great episode with Monk's shrink.

I liked Mr. Monk Gets a New Shrink as well plus Mr. Monk Takes His Medicine..I've always wonder if he regretted giving the medicine to Monk.

Monk sings to Dr. Kroger, a Broadway tune from Camelot,

in Mr. Monk and the Paperboy. (Avoids talking about intimacy with Trudy.)

If ever I would leave you

If ever I would leave you

It wouldn't be in summer.

Seeing you in summer I never would go.

Your hair streaked with sun-light,

Your lips red as flame,

Your face witha lustre

that puts gold to shame!

But if I'd ever leave you,

It couldn't be in autumn.

How I'd leave in autumn I never will know.

I've seen how you sparkle

When fall nips the air.

I know you in autumn

And I must be there.

And could I leave you

running merrily through the snow?

Or on a wintry evening

when you catch the fire's glow?

If ever I would leave you,

How could it be in spring-time?

Knowing how in spring I'm bewitched by you so?

Oh, no! not in spring-time!

Summer, winter or fall!

No, never could I leave you at all!

Sorry to post twice. Here is another:

This favorite one is from The Circus. Adrian actually gets upset with Dr. Kroger. Its genius.
The comments in the parentheses are all mine.

Adrian: You know, but you won't tell me. (disbelief)

Kroger: Adrian, you're going to have to figure this one out yourself.

A: I'm sorry. (a touch of sarcasm)
I want to make sure I have this.
I have a problem, you know the answer.

K: That's right.

A: I'm paying you.

K: That's right.

A: But you won't tell me.

K: Thats right. (pause)
Adrian, the answer is inside you. (points at Monk)

A: No, doctor, the answer is inside YOU.
If you told me, I would hear it,and then the answer would
be inside me! (very loudly).

Yesterday I was having a "Dr. Kroger" marathon and was watching only the episodes he appeared in. I loved the scene in The Sleeping Suspect" when Adrian can't understand that Dr. Kroger is going to Costa Rica for vacation. Dr. Kroger says
"I mentioned it in every session for the past three weeks." And finally Adrian says "We'll talk about it on Thursday"!

The one in the Asylum was interesting, because Dr. Kroger didn't seem as gentle as he was in later episodes. He was trying to tell Adrian that everything would be okay while he was in the asylum (for walking into Trudy's old house instead of his own). Stanley was great, of course, but Dr. Kroger just seemed different. (on a non-related topic, this episode was unique in that Randy and Leland weren't in it at all. Usually they are only absent from shows that take place somewhere other than San Francisco).
