I am very sad. I did not know he was sick. I got a very nice good autographed picture of him in 2006, as with most of the cast. I wish I had come on here and tallked to him and told him how much I loved the picture.
Sad news. He will be very missed. Very good actor and character. RIP Stanley Kamel.

Accesshollywood.com just updated their story to list the cause of death as a heart attack.
I agree with everyone else who's said this: the show will never be the same.
I'm so sorry for all friends and family. This is a big shock for everyone.
Less than two weeks ago, my friend's mom died of a heart attack, less than a week ago a classmate of mine lost his older brother, and now I learn about this.
Each loss is a new shock, and I can't believe it's a heart attack that's struck again. My condolences to all friends and family. It's awful having to stand on the sidelines and watch a friend/family grieving for a loved one.

For the second time in less than a year, Meme is almost speechless with sadness. The show, our little Monk world here, and the world in general has lost a shining light.
My deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and the cast of Monk.

I just learned of Mr. Kamel's sudden passing. His family and friends, his Monk colleagues, the entertainment industry, and all of us have lost a dear man and a great talent.
Right now, I'm sure he's getting to know his way around the "other side"...spending time with long-lost loved ones...and enjoying being pain and worry-free. But I know he'll never forget his life here and all those who meant so much to him, just as all of us will never forget him.
With love, admiration, and deep appreciation for you, Mr. Kamel, and with comfort and healing for your family and friends,

Yeah, what a shock! I was really concerned when I saw those last pictures of him. His explanation, that he was ill, calmed down my worries a little bit. But what a tragedy! He was sicker than he and we all thought.
I will miss him in on the screen, on the show Monk, and I will miss his very nice postings here on the board.
But I'm very sure, that we MONK-fans will never forget OUR Dr. Kroger!
Goodbye, Mr. Kamel!
What a wonderful tribute to an actor. The poignant lyrics to the song "Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep" comes to mind for in his final role was to be one of the leading members of a cast who worked together to create a classic series he will always be a part of.

My sister and I faithfully have watched this show for all 6 seasons and we have come to know and love Dr. Charles Kroger as played by Stanley Kamel. We were both very shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. As others have stated, the show will not be the same now that he is gone. I wonder how Mr. Monk will fare now that he will not be able to see Dr. Kroger on a regular basis anymore. It will be interesting to see what develops in season #7's shows.
Our sympathies go out to all of Stanley Kamel's family and friends. He will be sorely missed.

The thing about character actors is, they never seem to age so you get lulled into this feeling that they'll always be there. This is a shock to everyone, so condolences to the family and the extended family as well. I think the actor did impress people as having patience and resourcefulness, which may be why he got cast for this particular role. That seems to have been the impression of those who've met him, so those memories are a fitting tribute to him and his abilities equally.
Now I have to stop typing and start drawing, since they have a fan art area now! How long have I been away???

I found out yesterday that he died and it just devestated me! I considered him a part, like all those that take time to entertain me through tv form, of my family, Also when did they have these forums up I never knew there was a monk website, I watch the show everytime it comes on, I mean ever since the pilot episode when I was 13 , and all the marathons, but I never understood on a webpage or internet worked until my cousin showed me how to use a computer, but enough of that I am just so sad about this, I hope that all of us will pray for his family and pray for the character monk, since this death if written in the show will devestate him..., God bless him in heaven!

I've been a fan of Monk since the first episode on NBC, and I've always thought it was the most creative and entertaining show on television. The character of Dr. Kroger was integral to the character of Monk. Mr. Kamel played the character better than anyone could. He will be missed. I hope that USA incorporates this tastefully into the show rather than try to replace him.

, and a co-worked asked, "Whose Stanley Camel." and I said "He played Monks psychiatrist." and that opened up some more questions, like "Whose Monk?"
I hope they do something on the show for Dr. K.

Mr. Kamel was the quintessential "shrink"... after being a less-than-ethical one (Gordon Lester) in "Murder One" he became Adrian Monk's "guiding light" (and frequent comedic foil) in "Monk". His shoes will be hard to fill... I'm sure that, if Adrian Monk was a real person, he would be in deep mourning over this tragic loss.

Stanley was a dear friend of mine. I had the priviledge of working with him over the past four and a half years on Monk. During Season 6, Stanley and I forged a friendship that I had hoped would last for decades. Unfortunately that will never come to be. What I am left with is: the memory of a man with a profound sense of humanity, dignity and who always had time for his friends. Stanley was a friend that would always tell me what I really needed to hear, not just what I wanted to hear. Friends like him are rare. Selfishly, I know I had so much more to learn from him. Gratefully, I will take what I was able to learn from my friend and remember him with each day.
For those of you that were not fortunate enough to know him, he
REALLY was amazing, and made me laugh every time we spoke. I am devastated at the thought of never seeing him peek his blue eyes around the corner of my office door to say hello. To say I will miss Stanley is an understatement. He has left a huge hole in my life.

This is so sad. Monk has become one of my all time favorite shows, I mean, i can't even believe that I'm posting on a tv show board, I NEVER DO THIS, but I just absolutely love this show and the thing I love most about it is the connection I've made with the characters. The actors are so good that they make you feel like their part of your family or your friends and I really feel like I've lost a friend.

We are saddened by this news. On a rare occassion , an actor's true personality will transcend the character he (or she) plays. I thought this was true of Mr. Kamel in his role as Dr. Kroger. He seemed real , a person with a love for life and a sincere compassion for others. From reading the posts left here, it would appear that he was truly "right" for the part. We will miss him.

I was happy to see that someone associated with the show has commented on Mr Kamel's passing, beyond the studio's official statement on the show's home page. I was trying to find the news story that your comment above was posted from and haven't been able to.
I'd love to see something put on the website's main page with comments from other cast and crew members. Although I'm sure there's a lot going on right now inside the big bubble, I think it looks a little odd at this point that virtually nothing has shown up yet at this end of it.
