The song played and Elliot watched the Olivia sitting on the balcony looking out,
he watched as Munch approached her and she smiled it reached her brown velvet eyes.
Munch took her and they started a very slow dance, Elliot felt something grab his
heart. What was it? He thought and as he continued to watch them dance, it became more
powerful.

Olivia danced, smiled in the night beneath the soft lights. Taking a chance she
looked over Munch's shoulder and her eyes looked onto Elliot's and for a moment she
could not breathe. Elliot didn't break the gaze and neither did Olivia.


Elliot walked over to them with his eyes still locked on hers "Munch may I have this
dance with my 'partner'?" Elliot asked, Munch nodded his answer and Olivia took
Elliot's outstretched hand. She felt the contact burn through her flesh and as danced
to the song her head rested against his chest.
"Liv you look beautiful" she blushed and even under the stars she feared he saw.




"Olivia we can't do this any more pretending that there isn't something between us"
Elliot said as they danced. Olivia stiffened at his words breaking the dance she
stopped.
"Elliot what are you saying?" Olivia asked, the pitched of her voice hieghtened a bit.
"Liv I'm saying..."



"Olivia Marie Benson I love you" Olivia's heart skipped a few beats at his revelation.
Elliot cupped her face into the palm of his hands and looked into her eyes. Olivia
felt tears sting at her eyes, Olivia walked off leaving Elliot alone on the dance
floor.
Making her way to the place she had been seated she picked her purse and was headed
for the door.
"Olivia wait!" she stopped, he held onto her hand and brought her to face him.


"Elliot this isn't right you can not say these things you are married" a tear escaped
her eyes. "I love you El, but this isn't right..." she laid her head against his chest
and the tears fell.
"Liv look a shooting star, make a wish!"
It flew across the sky, and she made a wish and so did he.

Olivia awoke to the sound of her alarm clock, getting up she grunted and threw back the cover pulled herself out of the bed. Her room stank of stale beer, rubbing her hand she saw her mother spawled out in the chair and the bottle in her hand. Throwing her hands in the air she rolled her eyes and went to her mother's side. "Mom! Mom wake up" Olivia said shaking her mother, who came slowly awake. Her eyes where red and blood shot and when her mouth was opened it stank of beer.
"Moring" she said and got out of the chair and staggered towards the door. Olivia hated seeing her mother like this.

Elliot was getting ready for school; in the bathroom he brushed his teeth and washed his face. Grabbing the towel he dried his face and out bathroom he went. Picking up his bag pack he went to get his allowance it was monday and it was the first day of high school.
"Dad, I'm ready" he father sat around the table with cigerate in his mouth and a beer bottle in his hand, shoving his hand into his pocket he came up with a five cents and threw it to him. Elliot looked at the money with disbelief.
"Boy what you looking at it's all I got and you damn well make it serve you for the rest of the week!" Elliot shook his head and walked toward the door, it was time to escape to school.

Olivia walked into the school yard with her mother by her side, she was now sober and had the potential to be sweet. Olivia hated that they had to move so she could take her job and now to be enrolled in a Catholic school wasn't making it any easier. "Hold your head up and smile do you want to make a good first impression or do you want to stay home?" Serena said to Olivia who was quietly pouting. Lifting her shoulder like the way a lady would, she made a face when her mother wasn't looking and manged a smiled at her own craziness.

Elliot sat in class and openly drooled at Katherine Lewis, who was the most popular and pretty girl in his class and maybe the entire school.
"Mr. Stabler?" Mrs. May the science teacher said "what is photosynthesis?" Elliot closed his mouth and starred at his teacher while the other children laughed.
"Um.. Um.. the..." there was a knock on the door a slim brunette entered the class and gave Mrs. May a piece of paper. Mrs. May read the paper and smiled at the young lady whose curly brown hair blew beneath the ceiling fans in the class.
"Class this is Olivia Benson, she is new here so make her feel comfortable." Pointing to the chair which was right behind Elliot she took her seat.
"Now where was I, can anyone tell me what photosynthesis is?" Mrs. May asked. And rolled her eyes when no one attempted. "Okay.." then she spotted a little hand pointing upward. "Yes, Olivia."
"Photosynthesis is the process by which plants use the sunlight to make food" she bit her lip and waited for the teacher to say something.
A smile broke to her lips "Yes!, finally maybe there is still hope." she mummbled.

The bell rang and it was time for break. Olivia sat at her desk and studied her time table. When she had memorized it she looked up and saw a boy staring at her.
"Hi?" she said shyly, and he continued to look at her.
"Hi I'm Kevin, this is Micheal" he said, Olivia managed a half smile."We are going for lunch and since you are new we were wondering if you would like to join us?" Olivia looked at the faces and studied, wondering if there was a hidden agenda. But the faces she looked so innocent. Nodding she smiled and got up, putting one foot in front of the other, she noticed it wouldn't go and she tumbled to the floor. Looking to her sneakers she noticed someone had tied them together. Embarrassment brought tears to her eyes which was quickly replaced by anger. Untying her laces she got up and asked
"Who did this?!" Micheal grinned, and replied.
"I did, what are you going to do about it?" Olivia made a fist and landed one to the side of his face he tumbled back from the impact. Kevin shoved her into the chair and once more she got up, looking at the pen that lay inviting on the table begging to be picked. Micheal was the one who was coming to her with his hand as if he might slap her.
"Hey what are you doing?!" A voice came from the door way. They all turned to see Elliot.
"Hey Micheal why don't you pick on someone your own size?" Micheal shoved Olivia but this time she didn't fall, Elliot came to her side and shoved him away and he landed into the chair on his back-side.
"Are you okay?" he turned to ask her but as he caught a glimpse of her eyes her knew he had seen them before but where?
"I'm fine, but I can take care of myself" Olivia said and walked out of the classroom leaving Elliot baffled and confused.

The bell went and they all sat in the class chatting, about everything and nothing when the literature teacher walked in. She placed her bag on the table and got out her chalk.
"My name is Sister Ruby" she wrote then she turned around and address the class for the first time.
"Good Morning, I'm Sister Ruby, I don't tolerate tradiness and I would like you to participate in class. Now any questions?" she said forming a smile to her chubby face. But even though she was smiling no-one dared to put up a hand."Okay now on with the lesson... Is any one familar with poetry?" she asked and sat down in her chair and opened her book.
"Sister do we have to do poetry how about...?
"Young man, poetry is a great subject and it help you to think... Listen to the this"

"I wept, I could bot believe my eyes,
As a looked to the empty bed,
I listened and heard the cries,
Loud they were all crying for Ted"

"Okay how was that? What do you think the poet was taking about?" They all sat and thought about the few lines that the teacher had read.
Katherine raised her hand and as she did Elliot got last in her beauty once more.
"Okay I think that is about sadness?" she said and turned around to see Elliot looking at her. She gave him a half smile. And he had gone to heaven.
"Sister Ruby the poet is talking about the loss of a loved one as it speeks of an empty bed and people crying" Olivia said. Sister Ruby was now smiling
"What's your name?"
"My name is Olivia Benson" she replied and they all turned to stare at her, but the eyes that stood out were those of Katherine Lewis which tore her to pieces...
The bell rang it was the end of the session, and the end of the school day.
Olivia was the first to leave classroom and Katherine followed close behind her. "Hey new girl!" Olivia stopped and turned to look into the green-blue eyes.
"Yes and I have a name it's Olivia"
"I'm sorry, Olivia I'm Katherine..."
"I know who you are."
"Okay but you can call me Kathy"
"Listen I don't know the game your playing but I'm not i'm not it I saw the way you looked at me"

Elliot watched the two girls from the doorway and never had he seen someone talk to Katherine Lewis like that!
He watched her roll her eyes at katherine and walked off, swaying her hips in way like she was on the runway, yet she was dress cool and casual like a boy.

Olivia sat at the dinning room table reviewing her work, looking at the clock it was 9:15 and her mom wasn't home yet, getting up she went to the window to look out. Minutes and hours passed till she fell asleep waiting for her mother.
"Olivia wake up!" Serena shook her daughter, and ran her hand through her curly hair. Olivia stirred and rubbed her eyes.
"Mom?" the sound of her waking up and calling her 'mom' just tugged at her heart and she wished she could show the love she felt for her daughter. But that wasn't a easy task, her hair, her smile and the her eyes when she got upset went dark brown almost black reminded her of 'him'!
"Yes, go on up to your room" Serena held her hand and walked her up the stairs.

Elliot sat on his bed and listened to his father cursing wildly at nothing, as usual he was stoned drunk. Putting the pillow over his head he tried to block out the words his father was saying.
"Elliot!" Elliot squeeze eyes shut and prayed for deep sleep to come.

"Good Morning" Elliot said noticing that she was the only one in the class, his lips curled up in a smile as he looked how her curly hair ran free the ponytail.
"Hi" she replied as he came and sat in front of her. "Listen, about yesterday I didn't mean to come off as a jerk, but I'm kinda used to protecting myself" she said, it had haunted her last night while she slept.
"It's okay, so where are you from?" he asked, she was such a mystery and he was intrigued.
"Listen, don't try and pry into my life because I'm being polite." she said with a smile.
"I'm not prying it's just a simple question, why is it you are so hard to get along with?" Olivia smiled his blue eyes became almost green, it was like nothing she had ever seen.
"I don't know but I'm Olivia Benson" he smile and his eyes returned to the colour of the ocean, and as she starred into their depths she smiled.
"I'm Elliiot Stabler, and you have a very pretty smile" Olivia blushed using her she covered her face and laughed. The door opened and closed and Katherine walked in.
"Hi Kathy!" Elliot said, she turned to him and smirked and sat in her seat. Olivia rolled her eyed and went back to her poem as he got up to chat with her.

"Good morning Mrs. May" she smiled even wider and took out the chalk and started writing on the board.
"Okay so every one find a partner, someone you can actually get along with." she said.
"Miss come on do we have to?" Micheal asked with a disapproving look on his face.
"Micheal not another word just find a partner and lets get on with it or I will pair you all up" she said and went back to writing on the board. Three guys got up including Elliot to be partnered with Katherine. Mrs. May turned around sat down and began to write. "Everyone find a seat, this is who you will be partnered with and it is final, Melisa Ming and Micheal Richards, Amanda Armstrong and Keevan Campbell, Katherine Lewis and Huraine Scott, Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler, Christine Bygrave and Muhammed Uddin..."
Noise filled the room everyone seemed disgruntled about the pairs. "Silence!" she yelled and they all sat in their seat looking at her like she had lost it. "Okay now the first assignment is to build a model volcano, it is twenty percent of your final grade and it is due next Wednesday" she said and placed her hands to her ears as the noise rose.
"Miss! Miss!" they were all screaming except Olivia who was still writing her poem.
"Quiet! Now the list is final, so get to know your partner." she said, the bell went and she packed her bag and left.

"Olivia, so when are we going to meet to start the stupid project?" Elliot asked her during lunch break.
"How about tomorrow, I'll tell my mom I'll be getting home late." she said and drank her soda.

"Okay so partner I'll see you after home ec class." Olivia said and was walking away.
"Hey wait, as punishment I'm doing the stupid class." Elliot said, Olivia laughed.
"A guy in Home Ec?" Olivia asked while laughing.
"Yes all the girls are going to be all over me, plus Kathy is taking the class" he retorted and walked off leaving Olivia who was still grinning helplessly.

The lunch room was noisy, as Elliot, Mark and Olivia walked in. The girls gigled and boys rooted* as the Captain of the Track and Field team Elliot had gotten popular and every one wanted to be his girlfriend and his friend. But as for Olivia they all saw her as an out-cast the girls thought she needed to be more girly and she had not the time for boys.
"Livy.." Olivia sent him a look, he knew she hated the name but he just couldn't stop himself.
"Elliot I told you to stop calling me that." she pouted he smiled at her she looked so pretty with her lip pouting. "It's not funny and if yo ever make any of these jerks get a hold of that name you are dead" she said walking off leaving them to order her lunch.
Turning around she could have puked, Katherine was all over him and her best friend over Mark girls were so shallow. Picking up the tray with her lunch she found a vacant table and sat down.

Elliot felt like he was in heaven as Katherine wrapped her arms around him, she was so pretty. "So Kathy want to go out sometime?" he asked it had taken him years to finally ask her out and today might be his lucky day.
Katherine giggled and nodded, Elliot smile grew from ear to ear. A date with Kathering Lewis was a dream come true. "Really?" he asked he couldn't believe.
"Yes silly the most popular guy in school must be seen with the most popular girl" she said and wrapped her hands more tightly around his waist.

Elliot and Olivia walked home together in a way to keep fit always be atheles. Olivia was unusually quiet but Elliot didn't bother to interfere she would perk up in no time, as always she was resilenant*.
Twenty minutes later she still hadn't said a word a word so he decided to break the ackward silence that seem to stiffle him.
"Livy, what's up you seem..." but he could finish his statement she just cut him off.
"There's nothing wrong with me and stop calling me that!" she yelled and walked off. Elliot watched her leave and he was once again baffled by her behavior, which changed right after he noticed the bruising on her arm from when she 'fell down the stairs' but watching her now he was sure that those steer had had hands.
"Olivia wait!" he yelled running after her. She didn't stop she started to run dropping her books she ran. He didn't stop to pick them up he ran after. "Livy I can keep up with you" he said chasing her. And when he finally caught up with her he tackled her and she fell.
"What the hell is your problem?" She screamed at him, refusing the hand he had offered to help her up.
"I'm sorry but I don't believe you, Liv can I call you Liv?" he asked with a hopeful smile on his face.
"Elliot you don't understand, just please leave it as is" they had been close friends since the past two years but whenever it came to talking about home they both became silent. Today was different he was going to break the barriers she was his friend and he was going to be hers even if it killed him.
"Olivia Benson, aren't we best friends?" he asked while she brushed the dirt from her jeans.
"Yes we are but I still don't want to talk about..."
"Horse Hockey!! I'm your friend and if you can't talk to me who can you talk to?" he asked causing her to turn around and face him.
"Elliot please just drop it" she begged. Elliot heard the crack in her voice she was close to tears.
"No I won't! Olivia please tell me who is hurting you" he asked . His eyes held do much concern, she want ed to just melt into his arms. But she couldn't, she wouldn't, she was strong. "Olivia I know you didn't fall down the stairs" her eyes were filled with tears and his hands holding her firmand his blue eyes staring into hers taking all her secrets captive.
"El please, please don't do this right now I want to go home" she begged, the tears were running down her cheeks.
"Liv, I know how if feels, and I know you are lying your mom is beating you isn't she?" Elliot asked while still forcing her to look into his eyes so she couldn't lie. She nodded and right there on the side walk he hugged her. As Olivia rested her hand on his shoulder, something happened.

It was like nothing she ever left before. It was some force that she didn't understand, and as she struggled to make sense of why the heck her heart was racing. Letting go, she walked to where her books had fallen and picked them up. Elliot watched her and admired her strength. Following her she walked up behind her and helped her.
The rest of the walk home was silent and on impulse he took hold of her hand. Olivia almost jumped out of her skin at the sudden contact, but she didn't pull away. They walk hand in hand the rest of the way home and when she got to her house he hugged her it startled her more than a little and she smiled. Elliot didn't know how to explain what he was feeling, he just knew he liked it.
"Liv..."
I like that I will LIV forever" she grinned. He liked seeing her smile her brown eyes sparkled when she did and he like seeing it.
"I'm glad you like it I pick it out myself, so now that I have a nick-name for you how about you call Flash or even King Flash" he said rubbing his hands together with a hopeful look in his eyes.
"Not on your life Stabler, I like calling you EL it's short and I'm the only one who calls you that" she said with her hand rubbing her cheek as if deep in thought.
"Okay fine, I'll tell the guys at school to call me Flash and as for you Lightening..." he paused and used animated voice to finish his sentence "...Miss Benson, I'm the only one who should call you Liv" Olivia grinned she was barely able to control her self, she loved when he got all animated on him it was fun but her laughter quickly died when the beautiful, brown haied woman came to the door with fire in her eyes "Olivia!" she screamed causing her to tremble a little.
"El I'm see you for practise later" she said while running to the door.

Olivia walked in and stared at her mother. She looked half drunk and pissed as hell as she came close to Olivia. Backing away she found herself against the wall, Serena was coming close to her daughter and watching Olivia hide her face and slide herself to the floor with tears running down her face. "Mom why do you beat me?" The question had caught her off guard and as lifted her hand in the air to strike her daughter, she slowly took it down. And looked into the brown eyes of her daughter the eyes that haunted her each night and day since the nurse laid her in her arms. And as Serena thought about it she became upset once more and she found herself hitting her. But the thing that puzzled her was the fact that Olivia hadn't flinched she held her head high and took each slap like a queen. Serena exhausted herself hitting Olivia who hadn't shed a tear, and when she could no longer hit her she turned her face away and cried. In the silence of the room Serena heard her daughter's voice calm asking her "I didn't do anything, why is it you hate me? What did my father do to you?"
Serena sobbed aloud and Olivia was at her side. "Why Mom? Why do you cry after you beat me?" The sobbing got even louder and Olivia knelt before her mom and wiped away the falling tears.
"Baby girl I don't know why, I'm sorry." Serena replied while the scences from the night of her attack flew before her eyes. She trembled, Olivia hugged her. Serena was baffled how could you she still cling to her after all she had do to her, in order to break her the way she felt broken. Getting off the couch she entered the kitchen and took out the bottle of vodka she stored, opening it she quickly gulped it down and went to her room.

Olivia was asleep when she entered the room and sat in the chair watching her sleep, she looked peaceful and beautiful. Serena brushed the curly locks of hair from her daughter face. Olivia felt the slight contact and stirred. Serena smiled at her and kissed her on the forehead, taking up the book Olivia had been reading she marked the page and turned the light out and was walking to the door when Olivia called her. "Mom, is everything alright?" her sleepy voice was sweet and innocent, breaking Serena's heart.
"Yes, I just came to check on you" Serena said while closing the bedroom.
"Mom, don't go, not yet, I want to talk to you" Olivia said turning on the light. Serena sat in the chair and held her daughter's hand.
"What do you want to talk about sweety?" she asked.
"Mom where is dad, you never talk about him, did he hurt you, is that why you hurt me, even though I love you?" Olivia watched her mother's face turn chalk white as she asked about her father what in heaven's name did he do? Olivia wondered as she watched her mother's bottom lips quiver and tears welled up in her eyes.
"Baby girl, are you sure you want to know?" Serena asked hoping that Olivia would say no. But she had known the these questions would have to be answered one day.
"Yes mom, I'm sure" Olivia said, using her thumb to wipe away her mother's tears.
"I don't know where your father is, I never talk about him because I don't know him, Yes he did hurt me. And sometimes when I think of what he did to me, and then when I look at you I see his reflection, I can't help myself." Serena said, avoiding Olivia's gaze. Olivia cracked a smile and went straight into her next question.
"Really mom I look like my dad that's so cool!..." Olivia said smiling "...but what did he do mom?" Serena held her breath and looked at her daughter who was maturing nicely and decided that it might be time after all. Opening her mouth to speak, she found her throat dry , swallowing hard she answered her daughter.
"He... he... the bastard raped me!"

Olivia stared at the ceiling while, the endless tears ran from her eyes. How could this be that I am a product of RAPE? she wondered as she laid there and begged sleep to take her over, but just her luck no such thing happened. Looking over to her clock she noticed it was 4:45 and she would be up in the next fifteen mintues for her morning jog with Elliot.

Elliot, just the thought of him brought some sort of peace to her troubled thoughts. Jumping out of the bed she dress and desended the stairs and sat down on the chair in the yard. And like clock work at exacltly five A.M. Elliot was there with two bottles of water and a lolipop just for her.

"Morning, lets go" he said jogging on the spot. Closing her wind-breaker, she took the candy and the bottle of water and they ran off. "Why are you so quiet?" he asked when the first lap was completed and she hadn't spoken a word to him. When she didn't respond he stopped and she followed his lead, walking over to her he removed her hood and noticed her red swolled eyes and tear stained face. "Liv, what the matter?" he asked. She stilled didn't answer she just burried her face in his neck. He held her. "Livvy, what wrong?" he asked once more and stroked her hair. Olivia let out a sob and he held her tighter. "Come on drink some water" he said removing the cover and feeding her the liquid like she was a baby but she was his baby.

Gulping the cool liquid down it helped, soon the tears subsided and she could talk. "He raped her El, he raped her! she screamed and once again she was taken into the embrace of her closest and only friend. As he embraced her the storms around her seemed to standstill. He had that effect on her.
"Who raped who?" Elliot asked when she pulled out of his embrace, while he wiped away the tears.
"My bastard father raped her!" she said, looking into the sky, hoping that she wouldn't start crying again.
"Liv, I'm really sorry" he said as they started to run again.
"Me too" she said and forced a smile to her lips.

Everything ws prefect he had his dream girl and they won all their races. "El, so are you still going out with Kathy tonight?" she asked getting up and pulling her hood up as the breeze pick up.
"Yea, you wanna come?" Elliot asked, hoping that she said yes and he wouldn't have to embarrass himself infront of Katherine.
"Heck NO!" she exclaimed. There was no way she wanted to be around the two of them, seeing them like that made her feel sick.
"Come on Liv, you can bring a date" Elliot said following her to field.
"No Elliot, I'm not going to go any where with you and your shinny girl-friend!" Olivia yelled, going down on her knee to start off in a race.
"Please" Elliot said putting on a smile, the one he knew too well she couldn't resist.
"No El, no smilie face" she said falling into the the trap and laughing. Going up to her, he pulled her into an embrace.
"Okay allright no smilie, but lets race if I win you have to come with me, if you win you have to teach me something." he said. Olivia looked at him and nodded.
"OK, on your mark, get set, GO!" they said in unison and ran off.



"I won!" Olivia said jumping up and down while her hair bounced all over the place. It was a sight to see.

"You only won cause I made you" Elliot said. It was partially true, he wanted her to win but he didn't want her to it was complicated the way he felt.
"So what do you want me to teach you?" Olivia asked dropping into the grass and picking up her water bottle. Elliot's face turned bright red, how was he going to ask her and not come off as inept. "Come on El shoot" she said encouraging him.

"Olivia..." He paused scared to go on "...please don't laugh," his face was red and sincere.
"Okay I won't" she said, touching his arm while he played with the gravel.
"Okay, remember you promised not to laugh, Liv..." he paused agian getting more nervous by the second. "...can you teach me how to KISS" he rushed out hiding his face. Olivia could not believe her eyes. But looking at Elliot red cheeks and fearful eyes she sighed.
"El, I've never kissed a guy, but I guess we could learn together" Olivia said hugging him from behind.
He turned to face her with an ackward smile "Ok" he said
Olivia took his hands in hers. "Ok close your eyes this is what I see them do on tv, and bring your face forward." Elliot opened his eyes and stared into her brown ones. Without furthur urging he brought his fce to hers and their lips met. It was like fire burning throught their bodies, forcing them to close their eyes and hold on together. Something stirred deep inside them causing their hearts to race, to beat as one. Olivia pulled back, opening her eyes, and looking at Elliot she felt suddenly shy, vulnerable and really afaird.
Picking up her back pack, she threw it over her shoulder and ran off. "Bye El, I hope you have fun" saying those words caused a pain in her heart and tears to form in her eyes...
