Is there a reason to put this in spoiler quotes? Lol, maybe, actually, so I'll just go ahead-

I totally agree, am looking forward to seeing how they put "Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark" together as well. I'm especially looking forward to Shawn and his Dad, but I actually think that Lassiter may be the one to take up the comedy relief like Gus did in "An Evening with Mr Yang". Who else thinks so? After all, someone has to do it and I'm sure they'll have some way of giving it just the right amount of drama and humour. But I don't think Lassiter will be completely insensitive to Shawn's injury. If you recall in "Spelling Bee", Shawn accidentally stands up on his injured leg in his excitement and you see Lassiter frown slightly. It did look like concern and that was only episode 2. It's just because Lassie is really a sweetheart deep down!


Also,

Lassie had a pretty big reaction to Shawn getting hit in the back of the head with the gun in "Lassie did a Bad, Bad Thing," if you watch him when Drimmer hits Shawn...he didn't get pleasure out of it. There was definite concern there. I'm really interested in seeing how Lassiter handles *that episode* with Shawn in S4.

Shawn and Lassie have a pretty rocky relationship to say the least, but deep down and when it really counts, they have a lot of respect for each other and will back each other up.

I have contemplated the spoilers for *that episode* WAY too many times. I have a theory put together from a combination of the spoilers and speculation offered by my Psych muse. It will be interesting to see how much (if any) of this fan ficlet actually happens.
Spoiler:
Shawn is on the phone with Gus when the shooting happens. Gus hears it go down, but is helpless to do anything. The bad guys destroy Shawn's phone, cutting him off from Gus. They shove Shawn in the trunk of their car, and take off.
Gus immediately contacts the Chief, who grabs Lassie & Jules. They all meet up at the warehouse to find Shawn missing, the shattered remains of the cell phone, a shell casing, and blood smeared on the floor.

Lassie comments, "We may be looking for a corpse." He immediately regrets his words at the stricken looks from Gus and Juliet.

The job of letting Henry know what happened falls to Gus. He goes to tell Henry in person.

After a fruitless search of the warehouse, Lassie declares, "No one hurts Spencer unless it's me." He had his gun out while searching the premises, and is reluctant to put it away, wanting, needing, to hurt someone the way he knows Shawn's been hurt. Lassiter turns to Juliet, stating, "We'll find Shawn[He uses his first name to show just how much he cares]; and when we do, the son of a bitch who did this is going to pay." The deadly look on Lassiter's face makes you almost pity the bad guys, until you remember what they did.

I thought the commentary in the DVD during this scene was hilarious with Franks speculating about Tim's "heaving chest" and how he thought wardrobe deliberately gave him a shirt that was one size too small.

Seriously I love this pic. Lassie and Jules are a formidable team!

It was originally marked as "spoiler" on the off chance that anyone had not seen the episode yet. It was so wonderful I didn't want to ruin it for anyone else! (Wow, you went back a few pages!)

Anyway, on to what you said...When Lassie had to give up his badge, I thought Shawn was appropriately concerned (He looked so upset he couldn't even look at him! I liked that part!). It was really when he just kept on making jokes. The whole check thing, getting distracted when they were working on the case, etc. In the end, I've pretty well decided that he was just being Shawn. And just because he wasn't acting all somber doesn't mean he wasn't concerned the whole time. He's just more than a little bit ADD! And really, I think Lassiter might have even been a little more panicked if Shawn was suddenly not "Shawn". Tim said at the panel that Lassiter will always need Shawn to be Shawn, so that Lassiter can be Lassiter. I think that can extend to more than just whether or not Lassiter would rat him out. Needless to say, I've forgiven Shawn, lol! rolleyes.gif

Yup. I very much enjoyed that Lassiter didn't like Shawn got hurt like that and I'm dying to see how he handles "Day 21"! I love me some angst!
