Cats works too...

Seriously, I was in *drama* all through high school (really that's about all I did... techtress=me)... showtunes won't bother me, I'll just join in

LOL, might even have to start casting Psych characters into different musicals... to stay "on topic" and all wink.gif

That works. I'll say Lassie as Rum Tum Tugger!

I love the theater! My fiance's minor is Theater, so I get to see tons of plays! It's awesome!

Howdy guys.

Sorry I wasn't here much this weekend, I was on duty and we were very busy. Non-stop calls from beginning to end of shift on Saturday night. A fellow officer and I had one hell of a fight on our hands with a public intoxication arrest subject in the back of my patrol car, too. Kicking, spitting, biting, you name it, she did it. Saying she was a rather unpleasant person is putting it mildly. What fun! We were already worn out and tired by the time we started shift Sunday, but right around 10 pm, we got a welcome, light-hearted moment.

Dispatch put out a call for all units to BOLO a reckless vehicle. Here's what went out over the radio for everyone in the department to hear:

DISPATCH: "All units copy a reckless vehicle. Last seen headed East on WJB towards Sims. White Ford Expedition, first three letters of the Texas LP are David 83. Driven by a Hispanic female with shoulder hair."

BPD OFFICER: "Did you say she had shoulder hair?"

DISPATCH: "Shoulder-length hair."

BPD OFFICER: "Okay. Cause that would just be gross."

It's the little things that make me love my job. I'll be online tonight, waiting for more TIManiac fun. What's up for the screencap frenzy? Are you still going to screencap "Zero to Murder in 60 Seconds"?

It's really funny to watch him in "The Cheever Letters!" It was his first acting job and he's talked in interviews about how he had to re-learn how to act for TV after getting out of college because his performances were just really big since his acting program in college was geared toward theater. I laughed so hard because I saw that episode just a few days after I read that interview, and you can kind of tell. His motions are just really big and so is his facial expression and you can tell he's still projecting his voice. It's kind of fun to see how far he's come.

That CSI episode's pretty interesting to watch to, you really don't see him much, and when you do it's pretty much the back of his head, but you hear his voice several times throughout the whole episode. He's got a sexy voice, and I've known it ever since I've known who he is, but hearing his voice without seeing him just really makes it stand out. biggrin.gif I like it!

Ok, I'm here for the night. The Seinfeld episode with Tim Omundson is on right now.

So what's the Tim topic for tonight? How about the possibilities created for the growth of the Lassiter character in season 4? I believe someone mentioned in a previous post that the original plot line for "Lassie Did a Bad Bad Thing" was having Lassiter get shot, so the writers are obviously bouncing around that idea. They also left the door wide open for a potential love interest after Victoria springing divorce papers on him. I wouldn't be surprised to see a "Lassiter's new flame is a suspect" plot in an episode.

Any other ideas out there, or script ideas you'd like to see for Lassiter? (And yes, we all know about the Shassie camp's wishes!)

Who, us? biggrin.gif Actually, as far as Shassie goes, I'm happy for the show to stay fairly well where it is now. There's Shassie touch-y, general humorous annoyance, grudging respect for those with Shassie-colored glasses, but nothing overly overt. I think one of the main differences between slashers and shippers is that slashers don't always want their fic pairings on screen, while shippers often do. Slashers more often are against their characters getting into ship pairings rather than their actual pairing happening on the show. Then again, I also tend to be behind the general definition of slash as being "a relationship between two characters portrayed (on TV) as straight", though Torchwood and some others has started to change that.

So yeah, generally if they stay away from Shules being an actual thing on the show, I'm happy. Interestingly enough, I kinda enjoy Shabigail and wouldn't mind a love interest for Lassie (though I didn't like Vick's sister for him, or Lucinda for that matter)... so it would have to be the right kind of girl.

I'd like to have them continue with Lassiter coming out on top sometimes, or not appearing to be a complete idiot--I think they've gotten much better at making the balance between Shawn's skills without making the police look bad.

I wouldn't mind seeing an episode with Lassie's doubting of Shawn's "psychic-ness" really comes to a head again, especially with Shawn getting so lax in pulling his psychic act--just to re-establish the main conflict of the show.

I also wouldn't mind Lassiter needing to come in as the hero, especially if Shawn and/or Gus got themselves in a spot of trouble they couldn't get out of. Imagine Gus getting trapped somewhere and Shawn needing to contact Lassie to come in and "save the day" (though I guess that kinda did happen at the end of Mira now that I think about it...)

And, I know it's cliche and fanfic-y, but I would love to see Shawn get shot and Lassiter kinda reinforce the "this is why *we're* the cops and why *we* go in to the bad situations"--then again, yes, I have been watching Castle lately where this is a common theme (of "you writer--you stay in the car" not the getting shot)

Yeah, give me BadAssCop!Lassie any day of the week and I'll be happy...

"I'm back! Sorry for my absence! I had technical difficulties the other day, and yesterday I was at the King's Island theme park riding this monster: The Diamondback!"

Looks like a fun ride! We have some good roller coasters down here, too. Personally I like the Titan and "the Batman coaster at Six Flags Over Texas. Take a ride on the Titan here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHRvh394cak

And just to keep this on topic, someone posted earlier in this thread about Tim Omundson getting "out-machoed" by Lucy Lawless on one of those "slingshot" type extreme rides. Poor Tim was terrified, but Lucy dragged him on it because he didn't want to look like a wimp. Then after they're done she makes him do it again. Well, I love extreme rides like roller coasters, but those "Superman" high-tower rides, and any other ones where you have almost no structure underneath you at extreme height, really get to me. I'm not afraid of heights, at least not any more than the average person, I'm afraid of FALLING from that height. Never tried a "slingshot" ride, but I'm sure it would get to me. Fun, but crazy scary fun. Not sure if I'd try the slingshot even if Tim Omundson himself tried to convince me.

LOL, I'd do the slingshot ride, especially if Tim were with me! biggrin.gif

Then again, I'll do most rides... (and I know I had this conversation somewhere on this board before)... the ride that actually scares me in the Ferris wheel! I don't feel secure... but in the big roller coasters and towers and everything, I feel nice and secure with the harnessing and such. But that little itty bitty lap bar that I could bend over my knee on the ferris wheel? *that* is scary! I'd rather be spinning so fast centrifugal force holds me in place than creeping around on a ferris wheel.
Hablabamos_Chokalatte
Winky that it so true! Something about going so slowly around and up high and chancing getting stopped up high. I mean you are sitting in a little, swinging bucket! Give me a rollercoaster anyday!
Texasartchick

Sorry "Shules" fans, but I couldn't agree more. If Shawn and Juliet ever actually no the nasty it will kill the show. Flirting and pestering each other is fine, but they should never be anything more than friends with crushes. The fate of "Moonlighting" should prove as a perfect example as to how a show dies when main characters hook up. And since the writers compared Psych to Moonlighting during Tim O.'s audition, I'm hoping they are well aware of that. Haven't seen the episode with Vic's sister yet, so I can't comment on that. A love interest for Lassiter would make a good B plot to be used later as fodder for a Lassie-centric episode.

"I'd like to have them continue with Lassiter coming out on top sometimes, or not appearing to be a complete idiot--I think they've gotten much better at making the balance between Shawn's skills without making the police look bad."

AGREED!

"I wouldn't mind seeing an episode with Lassie's doubting of Shawn's "psychic-ness" really comes to a head again, especially with Shawn getting so lax in pulling his psychic act--just to re-establish the main conflict of the show."

Let's take your idea another step. We all know Lassiter does not believe Shawn is psychic, and never will believe it. How about an episode where Lassiter can prove Shawn isn't psychic. Maybe Lassie accidentally leaves his personal mini digital recorder in an area where Shawn and Gus discuss Shawn's act, and he catches Shawn admitting it on record. Lassiter confronts Shawn saying he's gonna bust him. But when the moment of truth arrives, Lassie just can't bring himself to actually do it, and lets Shawn off the hook. Now that would be a GREAT evolution for Lassiter.

"I also wouldn't mind Lassiter needing to come in as the hero, especially if Shawn and/or Gus got themselves in a spot of trouble they couldn't get out of. Imagine Gus getting trapped somewhere and Shawn needing to contact Lassie to come in and "save the day" (though I guess that kinda did happen at the end of Mira now that I think about it...)"

Hmmm, another good idea. How about a twist - Shawn gets into the trouble, and everyone has to look to Lassiter to fill Shawn's detective shoes. He's not the head detective because he's a moron, you know. Not only is this a great excuse for a Lassie-centric episode, but Shawn would owe Lassiter one for saving his butt. Big time. Imagine Lassiter pestering Shawn about that one.

"And, I know it's cliche and fanfic-y, but I would love to see Shawn get shot and Lassiter kinda reinforce the 'this is why *we're* the cops and why *we* go in to the bad situations'. Yeah, give me BadAssCop!Lassie any day of the week and I'll be happy..."

They could even throw Henry in on Lassiter and Jules reinforcing that concept to Shawn. And HOORAY for BadAssCop Lassie! Man, so many good ideas, so few checks from the Writer's Guild....

"LOL, I'd do the slingshot ride, especially if Tim were with me! biggrin.gif"

If Tim Omundson wanted to accompany him on the slingshot ride, I think my resolve would cave very quickly. I can't look like a wimp, now....

"Then again, I'll do most rides... (and I know I had this conversation somewhere on this board before)... the ride that actually scares me in the Ferris wheel! I fu<king HATE ferris wheels. They aren't scary enough to be fun and just leave you dangling at great height with minimal restraint. Then they always stop you at the top of the damn wheel to let other riders on and you're stuck there. But then again, if Tim Omundson asked me to accompany him.....can't look like a wimp, now.

Pretty much everything you said, Winky. smile.gif We really do think on the same wavelength!

I really don't want Lassiter and Shawn to get together on-screen. It's much better watching for the small moments of gropiness and subtle glances than actually *seeing* them get together. In fact, I really don't want anyone to get together. The tension on this show is perfect as it is, and I fear for when that gets disrupted. I know it will at some point and I'm reasonably confident that Steve and the crew can handle it well, but I'm quite content with the way things are now.

I actually like Abigail a lot, and I think it'll be pretty adorable if she and Shawn end up together for a while. I like the idea of Lassiter dating, because goodness that poor man's earned it! After a 4+ year divorce, he just needs somebody who'll care about him! However, if they get a Lucinda-type character, know ahead of time that I will most certainly hate her!

I think my real objection is to any of the four main characters dating each other (again, my objection is only in relation to an on-screen relationship for one or two of those pairings. biggrin.gif ). It would just feel wrong!

Like Winky, I would love to see a return to the central point of the show for an episode or two. Not any sort of real back-tracking, but just a revisiting with the issue to see where it currently stands. I happen to think they've all adopted a bit of a "don't ask, don't tell" sort of policy (except for maybe Jules-she may still actually believe him), and it'd be interesting to see how they all would react to someone questioning it out-loud in such a way that it has to be addressed.

I feel like Lassiter's started visibly mellowing out a bit more recently and I think that particular arc should culminate in Chief Vick allowing him an undercover assignment again. It's been made clear that he did at one point do undercover work, but he is now not nearly subtle enough. As Vick said, "You're never more obvious than when you're undercover." Since he's mellowing out, I think he could pull it off again. The divorce is over, I feel like he can probably begin to unwind from that and let go, and then he could be ready. If he ever goes undercover, I will be thrilled!

Seeing Lassiter as the central hero in an episode would be wonderful. I think some people have forgotten that there is a real reason he became Head Detective as young as he did. He's more than competent in his role within the department and I want to see that shown on-screen a little more. All three of the more Lassiter-centered episodes so far have been focused on Shawn needing to help him. I certainly do enjoy anytime he willingly asks Shawn for help, especially when he's looks so adorably uncomfortable with it, but I want a Lassie-centric episode in which he's not shown up by Shawn.

In 65 Million Years Off we learn that he had a hot streak for a while and solved quite a few cases in quick succession and Shawn was not needed. I'd like to see him in that vein, not just hear about it as a sidenote later. Shawn can be around, but in the end I want Lassiter to get to save the day for once.

BadAssCop!Lassie is my favorite. I feel like he hasn't had enough of that to play lately. I mean yeah, he's pulled his gun, and looked damn sexy doing it, but it's just not as...I don't even know what word I'm looking for. I wish I were French-they have a better vocabulary for describing indescribable things.

As for the rollercoaster discussion, Tim could take me on any ride he wanted, whenever he wanted! I'd be more than willing!

I used to love rollercoasters, especially the ones where your feet are dangling, but I just have a harder time riding any of them now for various reasons. If they're spread apart enough I can do several in a day and feel just fine and still be able to have fun, but otherwise forget it! I have absolutely no problem with ferris wheels, though. Getting to the top and then going down and having nothing but the view in front of you is my favorite part!

You know I'd do that in a second. First order of business - let Lassiter & Jules have an AR-15 and a shotgun in the trunk of the car. All our officers, including detectives, carry a long gun in their car (partol cars have a locking clamp behind the driver's seat). You know Tim O. would be REALLY happy to have a scene where he runs in and saves the day with that puppy! And I think Jules would be great with a tactical pump-action shotgun (short buttstock, since she's kind of small). GIRL POWER. And they both have to be wearing their cool cop shades while doing it. Yeehaww!

I guess there's a reason why my teammates nicknamed me "Tactical Georgia". (they also call me "peach" for short. Gee, wonder why?)

Have I mentioned I like Tim with a beard?

This came from an interview with Tim while he was on the picket line on January 23 2008 in support of the Writer's Guild of America strike. It was Xena day, the 81st day of the strike, and Xena fans and writers were on hand to demonstrate in front of NBC in rainy, forty degree(F) weather. Any time they tried to shelter from the rain next to the building, they were escorted out into the rain by security.

Tee hee! This pic was a fabulous accident!

Stern!Lassie = sexy, as always...

laugh.gif Fabulous accident? Really? I'm not sure... Question: Am I the only one, or does that man sitting in the background kind of look like Ocampo?

Love the smirkish-grin. smile.gif

I'm watching "Lassie Did a Bad Bad Thing" right now, and I just got to the line where Shawn says, "Very impressive work, gentlemen. It usually takes me 15 minutes to work Lassiter up into that kind of lather. Then I rinse and repeat." Great line! wink.gif
