I agree, acubound. The evolution of the Psych characters has been really impressive!

If Tim weren't Lassiter and James weren't Shawn, the show would just not be Psych! Same with all the rest of the cast. This show is one of the rare ones out there that is so perfectly cast. There just doesn't seem to be a weak link among them all.

That's what I tell everyone! I can't find a flaw with the show's casting. Ever. Every character is perfect!

The only casting mistake they've made was Anne Dudek as Lucinda, I guess. I heard she didn't test well. I liked her fine, but I do think Maggie as Jules fits better and makes for a more interesting storyline.

And every character is likable, at that. Lassie may act cold sometimes and Henry may be very strict but you can't help but like them. Even side characters, like Buzz, are enjoyable. The show really knows how to write good characters that the amazing actors on the show bring to life.

Yeah, poor Anne. She's a great actress, but Maggie as Jules was really the better choice.

I can agree with that, but I think there are times when the characters are either written to be unlikeable for an episode (or maybe more...) or I just end up not liking them. In Lassie Did a Bad Bad Thing I had a really hard time liking Shawn until I had watched episode a couple of times. I really haven't been a huge fan of Jules' lately, but particularly so after Mr. Yang. I'm sure they'll begin to remedy that fairly early in the next season. Or maybe I'm in a much smaller minority than even I knew.

I think that Jules has been a little 'off' lately. From what I've read on some of the other threads, quite a few people agree that Jules is starting to get on their nerves. I'm sure they will try change that in season 4, like you said.

I know what you mean about some characters being written to be unlikable but I was just pointing out the main characters. I agree 150% on Jules. I really don't like the way she's been written as of late. I think it started in the "Gus Walks Into A Bank" episode, when she went on a date with Luntz, knowing full-well how Shawn felt about her. I just felt betrayed by her course of action. And then, in "An Evening With Mr. Yang", she just showed up expecting Shawn to be waiting for her forever. I'm actually glad he went on his date with Abigail.

But, so as not to stray from the Tim/Lassie, his character has never been an annoyance to me. Even in the pilot, there was nothing about him that made me want to see any less of him.

Me too. I really like the fact that he's finally accepting his divorce. I can't wait to see what kind of possibilities this opens up for him.

Ever since I heard back in June about some of the Lassiter plotlines coming up (specifically Tuesday the 17th) I had been waiting on pins and needles! I was absolutely ecstatic!

I believe you're referring to Shawn's Rae Don Chong movie marathon. Lassiter was acting very annoyed then Shawn says, "Sorry, we were busy all weekend with our Rae Don Chong movie marathon." All of a sudden Lassiter asks in all seriousness, "Did you watch 'Quest For Fire'?" If you've never seen it, it features a mud-covered Rae Don Chong running around topless and has lots of caveman sex, which is why it's so damn funny that Lassiter asks about it. Lassie has a naughty side!

SHASSIE TALK! How did I miss some of the great Shassie talk?! Part of my love of Shassie really is built around some of the great fanfics I've read, I'll be honest. I love Lassie's character even more in reading fics that I think nail the character, but then expand on it in the direction I'd love to see (and the show is starting to explore)

Yes, perfect cast I agree. Someone mentioned Anne Dudek's character from the pilot... I like her as an actress adn didn't mind her character in the pilot, but I did see a few problems with her character for long term in the series:
A) She was too similar to Lassie. There's wasn't that much distinction between the two characters, so if she had stayed, Lassie might not shine as much as he does
the "relationship" between her a Lassie. I don't think this could have worked long term in the show... or it certainly would have caused some other plot lines that may have taken away from the show, IMHO

Which brings me to Jules. I do think Maggie's introduction to the cast as the somewhat green detective who believe in Shawn and has a lot to learn from Lassie was a great character choice. I agree that I'm not as thrilled with her character now. I think my biggest issue is that she hasn't really seemed to change that much. Yes, she's a better detective and takes the lead a bit more... but she's still a bit of a Fangirl when it come to Shawn and I wish, with her experience, she'd start to get a bit wise to his act... or at least stop giving in to Shawn so easily. Which brings me to another peeve with her character, while most know I am fairly strongly against the Shules stuff, I think some of it is because of the whole hot/cold act they have Jules doing towards Shawn in response to the Shules story line. It seems so juvenile/high school of her to be playing him in such ways. JMHO

As for a double-shot of Lassie (and with the SQUIB!) tonight... I'm all psyched up for that!! See you all tonight! I should *NOT* be asleep again.

i think im mostly a proponent of the 'shassie' because of lassie, not because of the two characters together. while i love how adorably awkward they are, i would love them just as much if it was a completely platonic love/hate relationship. the only key part of enjoying a pretend sexual shassie relationship would just be because i want lassie in a relationship, or being attracted to someone. if he found a girlfriend, and still was able to maintain the same awkwardness that the shassie relationship has now, i wouldnt be wanting the groping and always touching shawn scenes back. as long as hes shown getting physical with someone, i dont particularly care who.

i have no idea if that post made any sense...but i hope as fellow timanics youll be able to at least partially understand.

I can see that I suppose. If Lassie started dating someone on the show it'd be pretty adorable. And I'd be happy for him. And it would certainly be odd if he continued to grope Shawn (on the other hand, it would certainly destroy some of my Shassie reasoning...). I would definitely miss the grabbiness, though!




Quite right! At some point during season one I realized the tension between the two (and it's not hate!) and when I first got season one I loved watching all the gropey moments again. So much better with the proper context!




Love the "Kiss me, I'm Irish" one. I may very well be using it next St. Patrick's Day! Also, I love the "holster fetish" one. The man is sexy in a holster!

Absolutely one of my favorite moments because neither looks uncomfortable or awkward about it. It just seems like a very sincere moment between the characters. I hate that Tim got hurt, but it definitely helped that scene!

I, too, am a "Shassie" platonic friends-only fan. Though there's nothing wrong with the slash-leanings of others, it's just not my cup of tea. I still love all the Tim Omundson talk and screen pics that are a direct result of fan's love of the show, slash or not. Makes for a very entertaining way to spend an evening.
