Full Version: I'm a Recruiter....

For years, I've been always talking about Monk around my parents.
Telling them about the scenes, etc.

My mom has been sore the past week. So, she had to be forced to lay
down. (imagine Monk being sick. It has to be bad for him to lay in bed)

Last Friday, she had to stay home, and rest her foot. She told me yesterday
that she watched Mr. Monk and the High School ReUnion (I'm sure I got that
title wrong)

Funny part was, she asked if I've ever seen that one. I decided not to
give a sarcastic answer to that. If she wasn't sick, I would have.

That's great! I have been trying to recruit my mom and other family members for years, and they aren't opposed to it, they just keep forgetting to watch or they don't have the time. But we really should get toasters or something like that every time we recruit someone new, shouldn't we? I would love to have a toaster with 'MONK' stamped on the side. And a waffle iron. I'd probably nevert use the waffle iron, though, I usually just buy toaster waffles, but still, wouldn't it be cool?

And it's Class Reunion, because it was his college, not his high school.

Most of my family watches Monk. I tell everyone who will listen to watch it. Alot of people thank me later. My family and I are hoping for a Monk Triva game to come out. rolleyes.gif

I think with the next family gathering, us Monketeers will come up with some
Monk game wink.gif

LOL Liv, I forgot. I was just thinking this morning. I reeeaaaallllly could use a new
toaster. I only have enough to heat two slices of bread. Would love one with
four. Really. No joke...

I`ll take the toaster and the waffle iron.

I got the small one when I was living in a very very very small cottage. Now
that I have more space, a new toaster is in order.

I think we should all go shopping together. Monk fans going together while
shoping. That would be fun...smile.gif

I used an example from Monk at a Ladies' Bible Study that I was leading. As an aside, I recommended the show. Does that make me a Monk evangelist? blink.gif

Now all I need is a black robe and a tambourine. smile.gif

Help me, I'm finding it rather compulsive lately to use too many smiley faces. unsure.gif Can I still communicate in the real world without them? laugh.gif

I have a friend who's much younger than me, she's 23. I recruited her. She's borrowing my seasons 1 and 2 now, and I've been loaning her tapes of this season.

I tried to get my dad to watch, but he insists Monk is "silly".

I recruited my two friends Sissy and Harvey by loaning them my box set of seasons 1-4 then season five when I got it.

Just a week or six back they were asking me "Isnt it time for season 6 to come out, hint, hint?" And I had to tell them "Jeesh, let them make the DVD's people!"

I am still recruiting my husband! He kinda watches...responds with some comments but doesn't go Hog Wild like I do when Monk is on! tongue.gif

I am still working on a co-worker...she watched me read the Monk books at work. I was cracking up with Mr Monk goes to Hawaii and she wanted to know what I was reading. She was laughing along too!

I've converted my family already. wink.gif

I still have to convert my friends, but that'll come in time. x)

Good job! It's almost like this board is turning out to be a religion, ya know? We can wear those brown hood things and be actual "monks"! tongue.gif

Me and my parents love Monk, outside of my immediate family, my grandma is the only one who watches. I've tried converting my cousins, but, they don't have a long enough attention span.

Hi Bubba here, that's great you guys are bringing new fans to the show. I like the idea of a Monk Triva game.

Me too.Bubba! I would kick some serious butt at a Monk Trivia game. I tend to kick butt pretty hard with regular old Trivial Pursuit, though.

My brother, who was convinced that Monk was "silly" was finally won over after I convinced him to watch an episode and now he's totally hooked !!!

I've also managed to recruit two of my closest friends, it wasnt tough, all I had to do was make them watch an episode and Monk, as wonderful as it is took care of the rest smile.gif

I usually loan the new recruit my pilot episode. After that I will loan my other dvds, one season at a time. rolleyes.gif

I have been learning who watches it and who doesn't. I was delighted to find that a couple of my favorite people were closet Monk Fans. Well now that I'm out I am working on all the others. I hope to have an actual recruit soon. laugh.gif This does have an evangelistic quality to it - Maybe we could all wear brown suits with shirts buttoned up to our chins. We could recognize each other. I personally would love to have a set of "Monk" monogrammed towels. An even number of course.

lol. I'd dress like Monk. I think his clothes are sharp. I'd also be willing to get a little e-van-gelical should the need arise.

Off topic, I know, but semi-relevant. In the t.v. show Futurama Star Trek had become a religion in the future. Leading to the Star Trek Wars which pitted fans against non-fans and the Star Wars Trek which drove out the Star Wars fans in favor of Trek's. So, no holy wars unless we can help it, right?

Oh, and should we reach religious status, our symbol should be simple and symetrical, like an 'M' or somethng. Mostly because I am not wearing a little gold toilet brush and explaining that Adrian scrubbed for my sins, ya get me??

-M (OMG I've started already! ... No, wait... That's my initial.)

"Testify, my brothas!" tongue.gif (sorry just had to throw that out there).

My parents like to watch Monk, but they're not as obsessed as I am. They get so tired whenever I start talking about Monk or Tony, especially my dad. My mom is a bit more patient with it but she always gives me looks like "don't you have anything better to do?" That's why it's so much fun to talk here...with people as obsessed as I am smile.gif

(sigh) I need a hobby.....

Here I am on March 16 asking for a trivia game. Brought this up because of the Clue game thread. biggrin.gif

I'd love a Monk trivia game - there is a whole marketing outlet the USA people are missing out on - come on USA get with the new innovations so you can pay the salaries and production costs to keep Monk on for a couple more years after season 8.
