Burnt Child

Kathy walked into the kitchen in her nightgown and set the coffee pot on, looking at the clock she waited for Elliot to come down stairs, to grab the coffee mug and head out the door, that was his morning routine. And like clock work at exactly he came down the stairs at exactly quater past seven, placed a kiss on her cheek grabbed to mug and out the door he went.

Maureen and Kathleen could be heard arguing about the bathroom, shaking her head she walked up the stairs to quench the flames before a fight broke out. "Guys what's going on you are going to be late for school" Kathy said resting her hands on her hip in the bathroom door."
"Maureen is taking up all the time in the bathroom and she has already showered." kathleen grumbled while making a face at her older sibling.
"Not true, she was on the phone talking to Bryan, that's why she's just getting up." Kathleen gave her a stare that if looks could killed she would be six feet under.
"Okay, okay Maureen out of the bathroom Kat hurry and shower the bus will soon be here." Maureen came out of the bathroom and headed into the room to get dressed, kathy decended the stairs. Placing breakfast on the table she walked into the sitting room and turned on the television.

Elliot sat at his desk and worked, calling each lead they got but one knew the child. Each case seemed to get worse, how couls someone rape and burn a three year old boy? Deep in thought he didn't even see his partner. "Elliot!" he jumped and the chair tumbled backwards and landed on his butt, Munch and Fin laughed, while Olivia rushed to his side stifling the urge to laugh. Extending her arm she helped him to his feet.
"What?!" he asked when he was soundly on his feet. Olivia rolled her eyes at him and pointed to hat that was in the picture. "What is it?" he asked he could quite make out the significance of what she was showing.
"That is the logo of an Elementary School" she said with a smile throwing the picking at him so he could examine, picking it up his heart started to race.
"Benson that the twins school..."

"Okay then I guess we could start there" Olivia said picking up her coat, and ready to face the gusty winds of city, Elliot did the same.
They raced to the school, hearts pounding, Elliot knew the twins were fine but he could help but go out of his mind with worry.
"Elliot slow down!" Olivia sheiked as they missed a head on collision with an eighteen wheeler truck by mere inches.
"I'm sorry I just have a ready bad feeling" he said slowing the car, Olivia looked over at him and saw the sweat building on his forehead, closing her eyes she prayed for some sort of aide he needed help each case got worse and he wasn't dealing with this one too well. They pulled into the driveway and security inspected their badges and gave them entrance to the school.
Olivia found the administration department while Elliot went in search of the principal.

Administration Building
"Hi, I'm detective Benson and I would like to know if you could ID this student for me?" pulling the picture from her jacket pocket she showed it to the office clerk, and as her eyes roved over the picture she gasped and fell back in her chair. "You know him?" she nodded yes and tears formed in her eyes almost immediately.
"he's my nephew, he's dead, why have you brought his picture to me?" the questions started tumbling over each other and Olivia heart went out to the woman.
Picking up the radio she called Elliot
"El we got an ID I'm at the Admin find me"
"Okay I'm on the way" he replied.

Elliot walked in and saw Olivia consoling the younger woman who was crying almost uncontrollably, clearing his throat he announced his presence.
"Elliot this is Hospea," holding up the picture she continued "and is her nephew Andrew Markington"
"I'm sorry Miss..." he said motioning Olivia to the vacant spot by the window.
"So what did you get?" he asked her, and some how as she opened her mouth to tell him that the case got worse she shivered.
"El, he was dead and buried." Elliot eyes went wide as he registered the information.

Medical Examiner's Lab.

Melinda worked hard and fast, but when the tox screen tested possitive for unknown chemical she wided the search and as she name of the fluid popped up on the screen her mouth opened in surprise "Embalming fluids" picking up the phone she called the Captain.
"Don, we got a break in the case... the child was already dead and I'm running some more test to see if I can get you the funneral home that did the arrangements." she hung the phone on it's rack and went back to work.
But her next discovery cause her stomach to roll over with disgust, picking up the phone she called the Captain again.
"Don, this kid died due to the injection of embalming fliuds, I did some research and only three funeral homes in this area does this kind of Aterial Embalming and they are Rest in peace, Final Destination and Sweet Peace"

Don tried to absorb the information, but his relaxation technique didn't last long as Benson and Stabler came rushing into his office.

Internal Affairs

They were spilling the information when someone knocked on the door.
"Come in" Cragen said and when Mattew Hawkins of Internl Affairs stepped in, all the face in room dropped and heat started to rise in their viens.
"How may I help you Mr. Hawkins?" Cragen said trying to be polite. Hawkins scanned the room and noticed the two detectives he wanted to see.
"Captain Cragen, after the investigation, we believe that Detective Benson and Stabler are at risk if they continue working together." Cragen brows grew into a frown and he starred the man, who had brought his news to his ears.
"Why not, what is the risk? They put their lives at risk every day, so what is the problem?" Cragen was never good with the IA they always managed to tick him off and this time was no different.
"Captain Cragen lets not make this any harder than it has to, the head of the department has spoken and if you are willing to challenge him then be my guest but as long as these two continue to work together they put each other in great danger."
Cragen knew it was no use challenging the head as he would get what he wanted and there was not a thing they could do"

Olivia and Elliot hadn't said a word Cragen had given them the be quiet look and they took the warning but as Hawkins continue to talk it was making it more difficult.
"I'm sorry it has to be this way Cragen, but look what happened, her partner slipped and she had to be by his side causing the criminal to escape." he was pointing towards Olivia and she just lost it.

"Listen to me you ass wipe, was I supposed to let my partner?! And if a case like that can up again I would damn well do it again."
"Olivia control yourself" Cragen said while Elliot held on to her she wanted to smack him.
"His is exactly what I'm talking about, they are too dependent on each other, and with you behavior just now I have more than enough evidence and proof, Cragen you know what you must do we will be checking in soon." he said and left.
Elliot let her go and they both looked at the Captain, the only thing they saw was defeat.

Cragen knew this was going to hit the entire squad hard, in the corner of his office Elliot and Olivia consoled each other. Looking at them he felt his heart constrict with deep emotion, but there was nothing he could not now anyway. "Listen I'm sorry, just take the rest of the day off Munch and Fin will continue the investigation." Olivia stared at him like she wanted him to say it wasn't so, but they all knew that since IAB was involved meant that a dirty cop was involved, but what he couldn't figure out was why they had to seperate Benson and Stabler.
"Thanks Captain" Elliot said and he lead Olivia out the office, picking up their coats he followed her to car.
Olivia hadn't said a word, she was in total denial they couldn't do this? Take away her reason for living. But they did!
"Liv want to get something to eat?" Elliot asked as she buckled her seat belt.
"Not really, I just want to go home and rest"
"Come on Liv it will just take a second we can have hot dogs and walk in the park and talk about this, going home to sit in self pity isn't going to help" he stated while grinning hoping that she wouldn't start world war three with him.
"Okay fine, but you are paying." Elliot pulled out his wallet and checked it three dollars and twenty five cents. That could probably get them pop-corn. Olivia peeped into his wallet and noticed that there wasn't much, she smiled. "Fine I'm paying" Elliot turned to see her staring into his wallet.
"Liv! No I will I just have to go to the ATM" there was no way he was going to seem as if he couldn't buy his partner lunch.
"Elliot come on you have five kids, I know that the petty cash they give us doesn't really make all the ends meet." Elliot was getting heated he hated when people undermined him and if it was the last thing he did he was going to buy her lunch.
"Elliot Stabler! I have known you for eight damn years if you want you can give the money back but let me pay please." batting her eyelashes and smiling, Elliot rolled his eyes and finally gave in.
"Okay fine but I'll pay you back."
"Fine with me now lets go before the Captain calls us" Elliot finally turned the key and the car came to life with a loud roar.


Elliot ate his hot-dog and half of hers, they swung and chased each other like little children, and soon the depressing changes were forgotten if only for while.
The sunset peeped over the mountains and the golden rays played on the green lushious grass, they lay on it and stared into the sky, Elliot on impulse reached over and took her hand in his, it was soft and delicate he wanted to stroke it but he knew better. The contact cause Olivia pulse to quicken like a teenager, turning on her side she was looking into his eyes, those blue beautiful eyes. "Liv even though we are being reassigned, I want you to know I will always be here for you no matter what. I never thought I would have to say these words, but I love you..." Olivia eyes opened wide with his revelation, and a silly smile came to her lips "as a best friend you know, I love you" reaching over he hugged and the feel of her creamy brest pressing against him was a little more than he could take. And he wanted nothing more than to recant about as a best friend! Hell he wanted to have her right there on the grass.
"I love you too..." the smile was quickly fading and she berated herself for hoping of course he loved as friend "as a friend I mean" she felt the burning tears behind her eyes at her crushed dream and hopes. Elliot pressed his head against her hair and inhaled and as he did the fact that he was married slipped away and all he knew was that he was laying her on grass in the open park and lowering his head to hers. Her eyes were filled with unspoken words questions and emotions his lips brushed her and she shuddered she was in heaven and he was about to deepen the really kiss her when.
The moment was lost and now it was time to face reality. Elliot dug into his pocket for his phone the caller ID said KATHY.
"Hey honey... what? why?"
Turning around he was looking into the eyes of Kathrine Stabler...

"Kathy, it's not what it seems like" Elliot said and wonder but what was it? Olivia got up brushed off the grass off her clothes and he did the same. Kathy glared at the both of them and a tear ran down her face.
"How could you?" he voice was calm and deep within her eyes you could she that a storm was coming.
"Kathy it's my fault, and I'm sorry" Olivia said.
"Your fault damn right it is your fault, from the day I met I know you would try to take him from me!"
"Kathy I'm not trying to take him from you, It was just a kiss between friends nothing more" Olivia replied and Kathy tried in vain to wipe away the tears that were falling.
"How stupid do I look? You have been trying to steal him since the day you came to the unit, but hell what can I expect from someone like you? You are nothing but trash no wonder your mother never wanted you you..." Olivia turned to look at Elliot who stood with an open mouth. "just like your father taking what you are not entitled to!" Olivia could barely hear above the rush of blood in her veins.
"Kathy, I'm sorry you had to see that and I know you are upset, but how many damn times am I going to tell you thereis nothing going on between your husband and myself, we are... no we were friends" Kathy watched the waters form in her eyes and knew she had over stepped her boundary but could you over step your boundary when your husband was kissing another woman.
"Don't make this about you! This is about me you two face brat" Kathy spat.
"About me! This isn't about me it's all about you, and you lack of trust in your husband, we have been best friends for years and I am sick of telling you we are just friends"
"Are you telling me that if you had a boyfriend and you found him lowering me into the grass with his lips inches above mine you wouldn't assume that there was something going?!" Kathy asked as she blew her nose and wiped her eyes.
"Come on Kathy this is not the time nor place" Elliot said interrupting them.
"Elliot stay the hell out of this, this is between me and Olivia"
"No Kathy, there is nothing there. Get it in your head I'm not the type of sleep around" Sleep around! "Oh and you should be relieved Elliot and I won't be working together any more, Have a nice day." Olivia said and walked off.
"Kathy, listen I'm sorry but I swear it was just a friendship thing"
"Elliot you know what I don't want to hear it!
"Please Kathy don't go, it wasn't what it seemed like."
Kathy stopped and turned around "Elliot don't deny you have feeling for her, I know you do and so does the entire world" Elliot knew that there was some truth to what she said.
"Kathy I love Olivia as a friend nothing more and all you saw today was just a friendly kiss you are the one I love the one I come home to the one I can't live without." he said and stepped closer to her.
Kathy threw her hands around him and hugged him. He was never the type to lie.
"So are you saying that what I just saw was nothing?" she asked with a smile forming at the corners of her mouth.
"Yes that's what I'm saying. I love you" Elliot kissed his wife and thanked God for this his miracle.

Olivia sat in the park she refused to move refused to breathe. 'How could he?' she thought as she remembered Kathy's heated words to her. Not that she could blame her but it still her that Elliot told her, or maybe it was the relationship they shared as man and wife. She didn't know why he told her just knew that she would never trust him nor anyone for that matter ever again.
She sat on the bench in the park and threw the stones into the nearby pond. And as the the stone fell to the bottom of the pond a tear fell from her eyes.
"Olivia is that you?" Olivia heard the familar voice and turned to see Micheal. Micheal had proposed to Olivia back when she was a teenager.
"Micheal?" it was a question she could believe that after all these years she was seeing him again.
"Oh my God Via it is you." he said and a smile formed and he embraced her, Olivia relaxed against the hard muscles of his chest, and the tears continuesd to fall.
"Via what is it, why are you crying? he asking looking into his green eyes, they were the perfect shade newly sprouting grass.
"Nothing, Micheal is it you?" she asked still not believing even though she was huddled against his chest. Fearing that if she opened her eyes he would vanish like he did so many time before.
"So how are you, what have you been up to and oh God I ahve missed you" Micheal said and burried his face into her hair the soft curls brought him back to a time so long ago a time before they had been forced apart.
"I'm a detective, I work with children and oh Mickey I missed you" he embraced her and they stayed like that for a while bearly talking just holding each other...

Olivia felt light hearted when she stepped into the precint the next day, everyone turned to luck at her and eyed her like she was sick.
"Earth to Benson" Captain Cragen said as she stared blindly out of space.
"Sorry Captain."
"Okay I got some good news, I called in a favor from one of my friends from the bereau and they are allowing you two to remain partners. Now I want the development on the case." Olivia turned to looked at Elliot who did the same. And one question ran through there minds.
'After yesterday canwe continue to be partners?'

"Captain check this out" Munch said to Cragen who was eyeing the two suspiciously. Walking over to Munch's computer he looked at the screen. Then his eyes grew wide. 'Death' was back. He had the same MO of the kid which was dug up and raped and burnt but that case had been out of the way for years.
"Print it out, it seems Mr. Death is back to his old tricks" Captain said and went back to his office opening his drawer he took out the picture of a seven year old girl who was murdered by 'Death, looking at the picture it brought him back to the day he had recieved it.
"Mr. Cragen, please, please catch him get him off the streets please" the little girls mothered had pleaded with him but when Andrew (Death) had slipped though his hand he never forgave him. Looking at the picture he wondered if he could finally catch him and put him away forgood.

"Cap'n" Olvia said from the doorway
"Come in, what's up?" he asked as she brought him the case-file she had been compiling.
"Captain you see this here..." Olivia said pointing to a sign in the picture.
"Yea what is it?"
"This is private property own by Mr. Malricks, and only family and close friends are allowed in that land." she finished. What she was saying wasn't making much sense at the time but minute by minute he got the big picture.
"Okay then move go check it out I want this guy like yesterday!" Cragen said.

Olivia walked back into the squad-room and found a bouquet of flowers on her desk and a cup of coffee. At first she was shocked and as she read the letter a smile crept to her lips.

Elliot saw the smile and something stirred inside him. Who the heck was sending her fllowers? The smile stayed there during there drive to the Malrick's residence. And when he couldn't take it no more he asked.
"Who's the lucky guy?" his voice sounded foreign to him as he asked the question. Olivia didn't want to answer so she ignored him pretending she didn't hear.
"Benson!" he shouted and now she had now choice nut to answer or to tell him to take a hike.
"Elliot my personal life is none of your busines" she said and smiled she wouldn't allow him to destroy he new found joy.
"Benson the last time I check you were my best-friend so i think that your personal life is very much my business." Olivia all the emotions from yesterday came rushing down and she knew if he didn't stop she was going to let him have it.
"Damn it Elliot why the hell you can't leave well alone?"
"Because your my partner and what affects you affect me"
"Oh and it affects Kathy too, that's why you told her things about me I haven't told any one but you?!" Elliot pulled the car to the side of the road and took out the key.
'Listen Kathy was just upset, and she my wife, and I didn't tell her she read my jottings." Elliot said he knew that this was to be expected.
Her face was so pouty it would make the shies cry and as he pulled the car unto the road her phone rang and once more she lit up.

"Hi... yes they are lovely... I don't drink coffee anymore but thank you... Okay, alright six it is... thanks, you too" she said and hung up the phone.
But Elliot couldn't get it off his mind 'who was this guy? Who was making his partner grin and look blindly into space like a teenager in love?'

As they turned into the driveway of the Mr. Malricks house Olivia pulled herself together and put her working time face on.
They knocked and knocked yet no answer, each the defeaning sound of a child screaming.
"I'm going round back" Olivia said and took out her gun and ran. Elliot knocked in the pointing his gun from side to side he looked for the perp but he saw nothing but a patern of blood leading to a door way.
Olivia had exhausted her search and found nothing. "You found anything?" Olivia said to her pathner who was following the traces of blood leading to door.
"Yea I think..." They there both heard the scream again it was louder and coming from the closed door. The door wouldn't budge and the screams got louder and more terrifying by the second. "I think I might have to kick this door in" Elliot said looking to his partner for reassurace before breaking down the door. But Olivia didn't wait on him she tried it her self and the door flew right open. Olivia gasped. Elliot did the same as they found the sound and source of the screaming. A little boy was locked in the fire place and being burnt alive! The glass was hot and it burnt their hands while they frantically tried opening it. And finally it came loose and they took the child out only to have him pass out in their arms...
The buss arrived and took the child, "who riding?" the assistant asked as they wheeled him out side.
"I will" Elliot said and threw Olivia the car keys.

Olivia sat at her desk and went over the popular spots Andrew used to visit, and she shuddered with the thought that he might be out there looking for his next victim. Elliot walked and without a word he sat down and passed her pictures of the crime scene. Olivia just looked at them, blankly each case was just getting worse. And this one had really gotten to her.
"Hey here are the pictures I got from the laptop at Mr. Malricks house, you might want to have a look at them" Simone from computer crimes said handing them a parcel.
The first was the little boy who died, then the one that was just found, but the thrid one was one of Richard Stabler!

Elliot felt his body go numb, with fear as he looked at his son in the picture. Huang walked in and sat at their desk. "Hey" he said and took the case files out of Olivia's hand. They didn't acknolwledge him they just stared at the picture. "Elliot and Olivia, don't worry if you notice the patern he has to plan, don't worry he won't stike again till about three day." Haung said and went into the captain's office.
Cragen came out of the office and stood at their desk. "Okay, I want you two to return to the house sit on it if you have, but we need to catch him before he strikes again."
Olivia loved her job, but she had wanted this night off. Cragen saw the lok on her face and chuckled. "Munch, Fin sit on the house"
"Olivia and Elliot I want you two to take a break Elliot spend some time with your family I send over two uniforms to watch the place." Olivia smiled.
"Thanks Cap'n" Olivia said and grabbed her bag. Elliot watched her leave there was something definately wrong with her he thought as she smiled and worked off.
Elliot was left bafled and confused as he picked up the picture he took his coat and left.

"Come on Micheal where are you taking me?" Olivia asked as they drove.
"Via patience, and talk to me you look a stressed." he said and placed his hand on her thigh. Olivia stiffened, she didn't know why but she just did and then she begged her m ind to relax. Micheal saw her stiffened and moved his hand. "Via I'm sorry" he said so soft and genuine it made her want to hug him. "So are you going to tell me what's on your mind?" he asked once more.
"I'm a little distracted that's all" she replied placing her head against the head rest of the her seat she tried to relax.
Micheal turned on the radio and they drove in silence. Pulling up to the skating rink he parked the car.
"Ms. Benson we have arrived" Olivia opened her eyes and smiled and hugged him
"Oh Micky you remembered"" she said and continued to hug him.
"Via my sweet how can I forget the day I met you?" he asked and pecked her on the cheek. Olivia blushed and they walked hand in hand inside.

Elliot sat around the table and ate his dinner while the children chatted about their day he missed the sound of their noise it had been so long since he had a proper meal with them.
"Dad, where is Olivia" Dickie asked
"I couldn't say, why?" he asked.
"Nothing, it's just that anytime you are mad at each other you keep staring at the clock, what did you do this time dad?" he asked with a grin and looking over at his mother who had a frown the size of the ocean...

Elliot cell phone rang, picking it he noticed it was Munch. "hey man what's up?" he asked with the food in his mouth.
"I was looking over the photo and realized something." Elliot quickly swallowed the food and excused himself from the table.
"Okay and?" he said waiting on Munch to carry on.
"Yes you realized that on the picture with Dicke there is another boy, I don't think he's after dickie I think it's the other child he fit the patern perfectly" Elliot was relieve but that didn't last for long that meant someone else was in danger.
"Okay, so you got a lead on the other kid?" Elliot asked.
"Nope, that's what Fin and I are working on" Munch replied as he stuffed the remainder of his sandwich in his mouth.
"John send them to me" Elliot said as he looked over to his son who was chatting with his mom.
"Okay, oh and by the way where is Olivia I can;t get a hold of her." he said scanning the pictures and preparing to send.
"I don't know any way I got to go" he said closing the phone and joining his family at the table with a smile his worries about his son lift and wondering where Olivia was took it's placed.

'Dickie come here" Elliot said when the e-mail finally arrived. Dicke looked at the picture and nodded.
"Why dad is he in trouble?" he asked.
"Nope, should he be?" Elliot his son when a worried look shadowed his face.
"I guess not, but he said there was this guy following him that gave him the creeps" Dicke said and was turning to go up the stairs.
"Okay how did this guy look?"
"Dad come on don't make this into one of your cases, cause the next day the two of them were sitting in the park eating ice-cream and he is going to his house monday" Monday! Monday was three days from today.
"Dickie, where does he live?" Elliot asked, picking up the phone he dialed his partner's number.
"He lives on 29th street right next to the oak tree." Dickie replied and looked at his father's frowned brow. "Dad are you going to tell me what's going on?" he asked sitting beside his father.
"Dickie, I don't want you hanging with his and his friend, your friend is in danger." he said as he gave up calling Olivia, whose phone rang with out response...

Olivia skated with Micheal it brought back so many memories as his arms wrapped around her waist and they skated together. "Via I really have missed you." he said to her, she smiled and wrapped her hands around his neck.

"I have missed you too." Olivia said as he spun her around. She heard her phone ringing, and by the ring tone she knew it was her partner.

"Via aren't you going to get that?" he asked. Olivia shook her head, she didn't want to talk with him, she couldn't bother to fight. "Sweetie are you sure you are okay, you look a little sad, what's wrong?" he asked. Olivia didn't want to talk about it she just wanted the evening to last forever.

"Please Mike don't pu... Crap!" she exclaimed when Cragen's ring tone came on. "Mike throw me the keys I need you car... Captain... yea... okay... I'm on my name!" Micheal watched her and skated off behind her.

Olivia started the car and sped out of the parking lot causing Micheal to grab onto his seatbelt. Picking up the phone she dial Elliot. "El, where are you?" she demanded "Don't go in I'm on my way" she said and threw the phone into the cup holder.
"Via slow down!" Micheal screamed when she ran a red light.
"Mike shhh I have to concentrate" she said and turned the corner causing the tires to screech. A red BMW flew pass her when her phone rang. "Benson... crap he just passed me" she said and turned the car.

That's sooo good sweetie Moreeee please :-) I love it!

As they got to the stop light Olivia slowed. "Micheal I'm really sorry, but you have to leave. I can't take you on a chase, and if anything happens to your car you'll.... crap get out!" Olivia screamed when the car came in view once more. Micheal looked at her puzzled and opened the car amd step out, Olivia pressed the gas and then a chase started.

"Benson... Yes I have visual he's headed on 23rd street" She said to Elliot. "...Holy cow!!!" she screamed and braked as she saw the BMW run right under the bottom of an eigtheen wheeler truck. Parking on the side walk she got out and ran to the scence. "This is detective Benson..." Hearing the sound of sirens she hung up.
"Hi, I'm doc..."
"I don't care about your name just get the kid out please" Olivia said as the firemen cut through metal, and finally reached the boy.
"Detective I'm sorry but he's dead" the doctor said as he took off the gloves. "Do you smell that?" he asked. Olivia smelled it was the smell of something burning and gas oil. Panic rose through her as she realized what was happening. Running she went to the officer who were securing the area.
"Help me we need to vacate this place the tank is going to blow!" she said.
"Are you sure the tank is empty?" he asked looking at her as if she had gone mad.
"Listen to me you son of a bitch you get those people out of here or I will personally cut your balls off!" his eyes widened and he moved. The smell of oil got higher as the traffic slowed and the people retreated. The unit from the fire department jumped in there trucks, and so did the cops at the scence. And thirty seconds later it erupted in flames!

Cragen stood in the doorway of his office looking at his crew, they all seemed exhausted. He smiled, the case had taken a toll on all of them, and thank heavens it was finally over. Turning he went to his office to call the shrink.
"Listen up everyone and I mean every single one of you, I have appointment for you to see the shrink especially you Liv" Cragen said.
"Captain why me?" Olivia asked, placing her mug of coffee on the desk she followed him to the office.
"Because you are the one who witnessed the accident and I know this case, this week has been tough on you." Olivia face was turning red as she listened to the captain.
"Captain you can't tell me what to do I don't wan to see the shrink!" she yelled, while sitting into the chair he offered.
"Liv, I know that you are stong, but I know that even the strong fall sometimes." he said and the in his eyes told her he wasn't talking just about the work. "Listen I have watched you for years and I think I know you to some degree, and you are struggling so you are going to see Huang and if he feels you should lay of the next case you..."
"Captain!" she exclaimed. Lay off her job that was her life.
"I'm not finished and it's this behaviour why I want you to see a shrink you are irrational, and I can't have you running around the city like this you need help now you are going to get it." Cragen said. He knew he had no right to insist, but he was tired of seeing her so torn up after each case.

Huang sat in his office and typing the ending noted to the finding on the case. When he heard a knock on the door. Looking up through the glass door he saw it was Elliot. "Come in!" he shouted and pressed the button and the blind to his office came down. "Take a seat or lay down however you are comfortable" Elliot stared at the closing blinds and looked Huang with questioning eyes. "it's for privacy" Huang said when he followed Elliot's gaze. Huang watched him as he took his own little time in sitting on down. "Elliot I'm not going to bite." he said witha smilr to his lips.
"Okay lets get this over with" Elliot said, when he finally sat down.
"Okay then, how do you feel about your job?" Huang asked documenting each question and each reaction.
"My job is stressfull, but I cope" Elliot said, trying to peep at what George was writing.
"How about this case, how do you feel?"
"Well I am relieved the bastard is dead, and sorry I couldn't save the boy"
"Okay, so how are things between you and your partner?" Elliot eyes went wide at the question he hadn't expected it. George didn't miss his facial expression.
"Things are okay I guess, she's a great person to work with" The corners of his mouth turned up in a smile as he spoke about her and the memory of her beneath him in the park popped into his head.
"What do you mean you guess?" Huang asked prying. But as soon as the question was asked his eyes clouded.
"Ever since she started dating she a bit different." Huang eyes went wide and at his words and he quickly put on a blank face.
"Okay so woman change sometimes when they are in love..." George paused and watched Elliot behavior his breathing became hard and his face was turning red. "...talking about love, how are things at home?"
"My wife is okay, the kids are great, Maureen is going off to University and Kathleen is pre-college, the twins are doing great in school and EJ is trying to walk." Elliolt beamed with fatherly pride as he spoke of his children.
"Okay so are you having any difficulties?" Huang asked. As apart from the reaction he gave when, he assumed Olivia was in love he was fine.
"No, I'm just a little concerned a Liv, one day she telling me things that she's never told anyone and the next she's a closed book with security codes and alarms." he said drifting into his own thoughts.
"Well since you are friends I can suggest you talk with her." Huang said and finished writing the ending his report.

Elliot left Huang's office with a heavier heart than he entered with. Taking out his wallet he searched for the picture he had stolen from her and kept with him for good luck.

The breeze outside picked while the sun shone brightly, walking over the precinct door he caught a glimpse of her she was laughing with Fin, the way she used to with him. And he missed it. Opening the doors he stepped inside and just like that the smile she wore vanished.

Cragen watched the scene play out from his office and he became very worried about the detectives. There relationship was normally easy going but later there was this great strain and for some reason he worried about them but more so her. Deciding to cut the silence that had fallen since he stepped in Cragen spoke up. "Olivia Huang will see you now" She nodded picked up her coat and walked out with a word to any one.

Feeling more vulnerable Olivia feared that might have to sit out the next assignment, she became upset with herself. And the more she felt like punishing herself she felt like cry. What the hell is wrong with me? she screamed at herself. People passing her looked at her curiously but she was beyond caring. She just couldn't take it any more. She wanted out, she wanted to start over all over. Knocking on the glass door to Huang's office she waited for him to answer.

Olivia sat infront of Huang who was typing away on his laptop. Olivia felt nervous as she looked at him, but when he didn't start the session right away she looked around his office and soon enough she found herself calming down.
"Good now that's better." Huang said, closing laptop and looking at her. "How are you feeling?" he asked resting back in his chair.
"I'm fine but Cap'n insisted on me seeing you so her I am" Olivia replied looking down at her shoes. Huang grabbed the notepad from his desk and started to write.
"So you are fine, and you don't think you need to see a shrink?" Huang asked with a smug smile on his face. He knew that her thoughts were running along those lines and was taking on the challenge of proving her wrong even though she was indeed a hard one to crack.
"Yep, why are you smiling?" she asked noticing the smuggy smile on his face.
"Olivia, I've been working with you for a while now and I happen to pick up on a few things One. When it comes to personal things you are a horrible liar. Two. When ever something is on your mind you stare at you shoes. Three. When ever you and Elliot are in a fight you seem to search the walls for him. And four. Your bottom lip quivers when you are close to tears, like you are now" Huang replied standing and taking her hand her brought her over to the couch and instructed her "relax, lay down and tell me what's really going on and as you know I'm a shrink I have to keep what is said to me confidential" Olivia did as she was told and tried to relax. "Now that you seem more relax tell me what's on you mind." he said in afriendly way.
"Well I witnessed the accident the claimed the live of both the perp and the victim." Olivia said sighing
"So how did that make you feel?"
"I felt helpless, and like it was my fault." Huang raised and eyebrow at her last sentence.
"How could it have been your fault?"
"Well I heard my phone ringing and I was on a date an didn't want to be disturbed, and by the time I answered I guess it was a little too late" Olivia said trying to hold back the tears.
"Olivia this isn't your fault, sometimes we need time for ourselves. Tell me about the date?"
The date was fun, Micheal brought me skating, I haven't done that in such a long time" Olivia said her as a smile found it's way to her lips.
"Okay that's good. So how are things with your partner?" He asked watching her closely. her closed eyes opened and all types of emotions where visble in her eyes.
"Okay, Elliot has a way of giving under my skin, he's so... he's such a jerk!" Olivia screamed dropping her head back to the cushions she felt a tear trickle down her face, and the gates that had been seal for so long flew open...

As the tears rolled down her cheeks George gave her a box of Kleenex. Wiping as fast as she could she could she tried in vain to hide her tears.
"What do you mean he's a jerk?" Huang asked, noting her sudden break. And he couldn't help but wonder how Elliot broke her?
"He's just an idiot!" she screamed getting off the couch she paced the room.
"An idiot?" Huang questioned, as he watched her walking around the room. Walking over to her he took her hands in his. "Come on talk to me I promise it won't leave the confines of this room." She stopped for a brief second and looked into his calm eyes and she knew there was no going back no more secrets.
"I... I... I love him" she said. Huang knew that they had feeling for each other but he never expected it to rum so deep. And looking into her brown eyes he knew there was no doubt about she loved him!
"So what are..." Huang started saying when his office phone rang.
"Dr. Haung... yes... she is... I'll send her right away." he said, ending the call. "Olivia the Captain says that you are to meet up with Elliot on 4 Seasme Street, you got a case." Handing her more Kleenex she dried her face thanked him and left.

Olivia got to the crime scene and search for her partner.
"Liv over here!" Elliot shouted he opposite side of the street. Turnig around she saw him with a little boy who was covered in blood. Running across the road towards her partner, she noticed a shadow with a gun on the floor. Placing her hand on the holster she held on to her gun.
"El look out!" she screamed as the figure came into full view.

Pointing her gun she aimed, Elliot turned for a second and felt himself being knocked to the ground as the guns went off.
It took about too minutes for him to realize what really happened. Olivia was on top of him a man was three feet away was lying on the ground. "Liv!" he said shaking her. She didn't respond. Liv!" he shook her again and noticed blood covered her clothes and was pouring from below her felt brest.
"crap, Liv! Liv! Liv!" he screamed, totally forgetting about the boy. "I need a bus my partner has been shot!" Elliot barked into the mouth-piece of his radio. "Olivia, baby, please stay with me."

Olivia eyes fluttered open for a brief second and she brought his hands to his face "El," she said as she fought the darkness that was closing in round her.
"Yes, baby I'm right here, it's okay the bus is on the way.
"El" cough cough "El I... cough... cough... love... cough cough cough... you" she said and tears filled her eyes that were rapidly closing.
"Olivia no don't you dear say your goodbye stay with me I love you" he said as her eyes closed for the second time.

Elliot shivered in his sleep, and with all his might he tried to wake up.
"Liv, Liv pleaase don't die... Liv! Liv! I love you" he screamed as he watched her breathe her last breath and her hand fell from his face. Elliot felt someone shaking him.
"Elliot! Elliot! wake up man it's just a dream" he heard the familar voice, but he still couldn't open his eyes and Olivia was slipping away. "Elliot Stabler, get your ass up, the Cap'n wants to see you!" Fin screamed at him and shook.

Elliot slowy opened his eyes, his heart still pounding and he was still sweating. "Fin?" he asked a little disoriented.
"Yea man and what's all this baby, don't leave me you've been screaming?" Fin asked sitting on the cot beside him.
"Liv! Where is Liv?" he asked standing up. Fin raised an eyebrow and watch with intently.
"Cap'n told her to meet you at the crime scene, I think she should be on her way, here's the address, I'm out" Fin said handing him the address he had scribled on a piece of paper.

Splashing cold water on his face he tried to calm his worried nerves but he knew that wasn't ging to happen, he had to see her to find out that she was alright. Grabbing his coat he placed it on and went to the squad room for his keys.

Elliot arrived at the crime scene and searched the grounds for his partner. He sighed with relief when he found her in the basement and the little girl clinging to her neck as she cried. Forgetting he was at work, and that he was on a case he ran to her. "Oh Liv, I'm so happy to see you" he said and threw his arms around her. Fearing that she would slip away before he got to tell her.

Olivia was puzzled, as Elliot squashed her in his embrace it felt great, but this wasn't the time nor the place for her to get lost in her fantasies. "El, what are you doing?" she asked trying to be serious. Pulling away she noticed tears in his eyes. "El, what's the matter?" she asked cupping his face, forgetting that she mad at him.

A tear ran from his eyes and she wiped it away. "Oh Liv, I waited so long to tell you this I..."
Elliot looked into her eyes and smiled, but a loud noise and the unmistakable sound of a gun went off breaking the moment.
"Freeze nobody move..."

There heads snapped up at the command. Elliot froze. Olivia held the little girl close. Elliot slowly stood infront of Olivia in a protective mannner. "Step away from the little girl" the man command. While aiming his gun.
"Not on your life!" Elliot exclaimed, While Olivia took her gun out her gun.
"MIster I don't want to do this, but I'm a police officer" the man said. Olivia lowered her gun at his sincere words, and moved from Elliot's shadows. He laughed.
"Okay that's good to know, I'm a detective, In my jacket is my badge" The man was skeptical and slowly lowered his gun, walked over to Elliot and searched him.
"Detective Stabler, I'm so sorry. I'm officer Bailey I was down the road when I heard the 911 call"
he said putting his gun back in the holster. And like before gun shots rang out above.
"Liv stay here" he command following officer Bailey up the stairs with guns drawn.
Olivia was puzzled 'Liv stay here!' she thought steaming while taking her gun once more from the holster and hiding the child.
"Sweetie stay here" Olivia said. Mounting the stairs more gun shots rang out. And the sight of something caused her break...
