Since we already have an episode idea thread, I thought I'd start up a related thread with a twist: what song(s) would you like to hear any member(s) of the Psych cast do during a Psych-out and why?

[Yes, I realize that most of these are done on the fly and are considered bloopers, but hey, why not?]

Here are what they've done already:

"Somebody's watching me"
"Come on Eileen"
"Superfreak"
The duet with Maggie and Tim
"My friend" [?] (when James and Dulé are trying to reach that high note)
"I want it that way"

There must be others I'm missing...

Anyway, I have two suggestions - one straightforward, the other one from left field.

1) "Don't you want me" by the Human League - an 80's classic with an extremely catchy refrain. James and Maggie could do this.

2) The "Cutie Honey" theme song - Wha?? Yeah, it's in a foreign language - actually several foreign languages. But it's got some unique melodic hooks - "retro-cosmopolitan" you could say. And it's a bit frenetic, just like Shawn. Maybe it would be too fast to sing, but perhaps James and Dulé can dance to this in the background, with Tim and Maggie looking at them and thinking "what have they been on?" and then participating themselves...

Here's the Korean version by Lee Ayumi:

Here's another song: Superfreak's alter ego - U Can't Touch This.

Now that I've thought about it a little bit more, the material from my initial post should be a running gag in a single show.

First, Shawn would learn that Gus has been listening to this in recent days, while riding in Gus' car. This would suddenly come on. Shawn would probably look puzzled, and then give a strange look to Gus:

S: Gus, what exactly are we listening to?
G: Well, Shawn, it's ... music from Korea/Japan. Thought I'd listen to something, uh, different.
S: It's certainly different - I'd have to think about it more whether it's worth listening to.

[After the song]

S: Huh, that's not bad. [Whispering to Gus] Uh, can you burn a CD for me?

Second, either Lassiter or Henry has to drive Shawn somewhere, and Shawn turns the radio on. The foreign music is being broadcasted. Lassiter/Henry try to reach to either change the station or turn the radio off, but Shawn says:

S: No, no, no, you don't need to do that. This song's cool.

[They listen to it for awhile, then Lassiter/Henry start to look puzzled.]

L or H: You actually like listening to this stuff?
S: Hey, hey, don't hate! You just gotta listen to this stuff with an open mind!
L or H: Yeah, right...

And then, they could dance to it during the Psych-out.

Well, there is the one when Jules and Lassie sing "Leaving on a Jet Plane" but not without some background noise from Shawn and Gus.

OMG, I just about die! that was hilarious!

They could totally do a Creedence Clearwater Revival song like that... especially "Bad Moon Rising."
JoeyLeigh
THRILLER!!!!!!!!

that would probably be the greatest psychout ever.
ShulesFan13
Here are some songs I thought of:
"The Final Countdown"- Europe (especially in space-themed episode)
"Eye of the Tiger"- no idea
"I Will Survive"- no idea
"Larger than Life"- Backstreet Boys or NSYNC
"Hallelujah"- Jeff Buckley or something like that
Anything from High School Musical or Disney Channel would be funny too.

And yes "Thriller" would be the greatest psychout ever... especially if they got together some of the actors who were arrested in previous episodes and they did it in jumpsuits like in the youtube video.
PsychJujuPineapple
Thriller is a great idea! And Larger Than Life would be funny too biggrin.gif

any Haunted house or mummy episode would work...

"Larger than Life" is Backstreet boys =]

They should also do "Bye Bye Bye" - 'NSync
ShulesFan13
Thanks for the clarification on "Larger than Life"
And you are right, anything by boy bands would be pure gold.
Speaking of boy bands, what about this song:
"Hey Juliet" by LMNT
There's a video with then song and shules moments on youtube. Here's a link:

me too! I totally forgot about that one. It's a good song. Phil Collins has some pretty good songs.

"Sussudio" and "Don't Lose My Number"
Bigkitty75
I totally forgot that Cool It Now by New Edition was done by Maggie with James and Dulé helping out at the end of Cloudy with a Chance of Murder and I Will Make Love to You by The Backstreet Boys by James and Dulé with Maggie joining them at the end of Shawn vs The Red Phantom. I hope Psych-Outs are included this time around when the DVD comes out June 10.

I thought of two more songs.

You Have the Fight For Your Right to Party-Beastie Boys
I Wanta Rock-Twisted Sister

"In the Air Tonight" as a duet between James AND Tim would be even more hilarious. biggrin.gif
fishdance69

Micheal Jackson "Smooth Criminal"
Grandmaster Flash "White Lines"
NKOTB "Step by Step"
Police "Roxanne"
Yeoboseyo
<bump>

How about Maggie lip-synching while James and Dulé dance in Davy Crocket caps to this? (Better yet, with big captions saying "This year's cop in action" and "Cool Struttin'" smile.gif)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z22nzBVLCto

"Twiggy vs. James Bond" by Pizzicato Five.

Beavis and Butthead once made fun of this video, believe it or not...

So five-minutes ago (sorry wink.gif ). The current ultimate easy make-a-fool-oneself dance step is the "Papaya", a dance from the Philippines created with a 1970's disco hit from Poland (who woulda thunk it?):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alX5ni4n4xw

And it had its "mainstream" US introduction through Good Morning America...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Au5M89rmbk0

Oh, the humanity!!!

ROFL... Chris Cuomo dancing the Papaya, that just made my day. He kept on trying to dance "The Sprinkler" too.

I just hope the writers of this show never get word of "America's Most Unwanted Song" (but it's musical irony at its best).

http://ubu.artmob.ca/sound/komar_melamid/K...nwantedSong.mp3

"Yo, yo, I'm a cowboy now!"

"Do all your shopping - at Wal-Mart!"
JoeyLeigh
Disco fever...

"Makin' It" - David Naughton

It'd probably never happen... but it'd be really cool...

oooh! this would be kinda interesting to see Tim sing...
BeeAtrice
