I was at the online NBC store and I was interested in buying "The Psychic is In Mug" but there was a warning Attention California Residents: The colored artwork or designs used on this product contains lead and/or cadmium, a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects and other reproductive harm. This warning concerns me because I wouldn't want to chance using a product that may cause birth defects or reproductive harm but it's soo damn cute!!! Any thoughts?

I'm buying one myself. I live in California, one of the most litigious states in the country. They have to put warnings on everything, no matter how small the risk. Unless you plan on chipping off the paint and ingesting it until the green is all gone, you should safe. Of course, all bets are off if it was mfr'd in China. They use way too much lead.

Most likely it contains cadmium. (a metal pigment used to make yellow colored paints) It should be safe to drink out of considering that it is coated with a enamel or glass glaze. I still plan on buying one.

It's nothing to worry about. You're fine. Unless you plan to eat your entire mug... you're fine. (of course at that point, the paint would be the least of your worries.) LOL. Cali is about 2 months away from making restaurants post signs on their doors that say "Warning: Eating has been known to the state of California to cause potential health threats. Eating may result in choking, coughing, feeling full, cavities, intestinal gas and potentially, an enlarged gluteus maximus. Please consume at your own risk." If they are going to warn their denizens of a threat, try putting out PSA's about Cali's roadways. LOL. I have driven in L.A. and THAT is hazardous to your health.

I plan on owning that mug even if it only means displaying my love for the show... okay maybe I will have just one cup of coffee in it!
