Tony just told McGee that one of Gibbs' rules is no eating in the truck. Then when Tim tossed his burger in the garbage Tony said that maybe he was mistaken and that Gibbs' rule was actually 'no eating in autopsy.'

I just watched "Yankee White" and rule #4 was mentioned. But I also know this rule is mentioned liberally throughout every season.

I'm watching the episode called, "Blowback" and Jennie begins telling Gibbs some of his rules at about the 15:30 mark.

QUOTE
Jenny
"The best way to keep a secret: keep it to yourself. Second best: tell one other person, if you must. There is no third best. That's rule #4 isn't it?"

Gibbs
"Number 1 supercedes all of the others."

Jenny
"Never screw your partner?"

Gibbs
"Never screw over your partner."

there's a great video on youtube that sums these up. it's called "gibbs' rules" and was made by NCISmelanie.

I believe a nice piece of NCIS merchandise, would be a poster with Gibbs on it and all his 50 rules.

It would be a great gift if USA came out with a poster with all the rules, when the show is ending. huh.gif

I if it interesting, that this "list" has numbers which aren't constant. Apparently, the writers don't record the rules they come up with.

This vid is created by NCISmelanie ( as previously posted ). As she ( the creator ) states, this vid was made in 2007.

I'm surprised none of you listed #11. It was mentioned along with #12 in the episode "Semper Fidelis". Gibbs told Tony to remember rule 11, to which he answered was "Never date a co-worker", then realized he got tricked into admitting his state of mind concerning Ziva and corrected that that was 12 and #11 was "When a job is done, walk away".

OK,

A lot of us remember the rules, but . . . .

Who started Gibbs on the rules?

Hints:

1. It wasn't his Dad.

2. "Don't you believer that everyone should have a set of rules to live by?"

It was Shannon (that's his first wife's name, right?) when they showed them at the train station when he was younger and they first met during a flashback scene. But I can't remember what the episode was called or what else it was about.

Chris O'Donnell! I remembered his name, after seeing previews of the new show starting! I saw the other guy who stars in it, I don't know his name, tell me somebody, Chris's partner, anyhoo, on the View, and he said this NCIS will be more dramatic and action packed then NCIS, with my fav with Mark the hot Harmon! tongue.gif
KellyK
Thanks for the info, krodgers. I think it's LL Cool J. More action packed is interesting for NCIS: LA. I hope NCIS remains the way it is though with it's balance of action and humor. It's got a lot of great character interaction and individual character depth that keeps me hooked on it. The coundown is on - 4 more days! WooHooooo! biggrin.gif
Spock
IMO, I think it's a sad commentary on the state of television writers today. They did this with CSI-CSI-Miami-CSI-New York and now they're doing it with NCIS.

LA one might think of a latino/Mexican decent person to head the office instead of the black guy, but then oh wait, we have a black pres. sad.gif could there be a connection. tongue.gif ; he even lives in an semi-exclusive el-blanco town on Long Island.
ziva2
it is VERY said.

Yeah, that's his name! Thanks Kelly! Do you go over to the LOCI board too? If that's you, I told them to answer the guessing episode, so we could move it along! LOL!!! You're always welcome there too, all of you are, only if ya love LOCI! J/K! tongue.gif

Yep, I'm the same Kelly, krod. I kinda stopped going over to LOCI board for awhile because of some of the drama I couldn't understand. Hopefully it's straightened out now. I still love the games though especially guessing the episode and I have to check them out from time to time. Maybe if no one else posts in the guessing episode soon I'll just have to go on over there and post a new question myself for others to guess. LOL. Good to see ya over here too! smile.gif

Rule #13- Never ever involve lawyers, things are bound to get messy.

Its not an unlisted rule but in the same episode Tony said that Gibbs has 7 rules about lawyers but #13 is the umbrella rule concerning lawyers, though I have never herd what the other 6 are.

I don't think the writers ever wrote them down. There are some rule numbers with multiple rules. 3 and 4 come immediately to mind.

In the episode where Shannon introduces rules to Gibbs I think Shannon said something like - It's either rule #1 or #3 to never date a lumberjack. So if you can't keep straight what the numbers are within the first 10 digits maybe it's less important to remember the numbers than it is to "have a code you can live by." That's how I've always seen it so it didn't surprise me at all when I got here and saw that some #'s would have multiple rules or some rules would have multiple #'s. I could see Gibbs just spitting out a # and everyone around him trying to remember what # goes with what rule. laugh.gif But I would love to see the writer's list, too, even with the duplicates. It would be fun. It would be fun also if they happened to come across a list made by Jenny and then to see Tony, Abby, McGee, Ziva, Palmer and even Ducky comparing their lists to hers and trying to get it all straight. biggrin.gif
Reiterin
What is the most frequently referred to rule? Is that rule #9?
