I notice there are threads such as Elliot & Olivia, Dean & Olivia, so why not Elliot & Kathy, too? For me, they have chance to reconcile their relationship, although they have separated for so long. Come and share the love of Elliot and Kathy! Have fun!
RollingStone
This is an awesome idea for a thread. I think that El && Kathy obviously must have something working for them if they've been married for so long. I'd just like to see alot more family time, with the kids or with each other.

Yes, I agree.

Hooray!! At least we have a thread for a romance that isn't imaginary! (Other than the fact that they are fictional characters.) A 20+ year marriage that has survived stormy times and is once again thriving is more romantic than hooking up with a co-worker.

I love the fact that Stabler is back home, though I think the writers need to do a little more to show how it is affecting him. They hinted at it in "Blinded" when he was all smiley when Casey went to see him, and there has been a new calmness to his character. I just wish they would devote a little more scene time to the family. Not too much, mind you, but just enough to show that he is grounded again.
RollingStone
Kathy loves him alot, it's obvious.
The writers need to show how much he loves her as well.

I think that they have gestured in that direction since he went home. They need to devote a little more time to it, IMO. I don't want it to be the "Elliot and Kathy Show". Just make it clear that he is the old, family Stabler from the earlier seasons.

LMAO!

My Delivia heart is in shambles...but I am hanging in there... But back on topic. Remember the scene in Countdown where Kathy and kids come to see El? That was such a cute scene. I really enjoyed that.

I don't post much on this forum because my heart belongs to Criminal Intent. I watch SVU, but don't know it as well as I do CI. But I can't resist posting on this thread! One of the things I loved about SVU from the beginning was Elliot's family life. Healthy marriages are an endangered species on TV (and in RL, for that matter!), and I really appreciate this one. I was so distressed when they were separated and didn't watch too regularly because I was disgusted that the writers had to destroy their relationship (I stopped watching 2 shows this season because of broken marriages on each). But now, in hindsight, I'm glad they went that route because it makes it even better that they could be separated for 2 years (was it that long?) and still come back together. HOORAY!!! And it makes Elliot that much hotter as far as I'm concerned. There is NOTHING as sexy as a man in love with his wife (and HOT for her!) after 20 years of marriage. Good work, writers!
marianna
elliot is indeed still in love with his wife of 20+ years. have we ever seen elliot cheated on her, just once? there is nothing wrong if he returned to kathy. after all, they still have moments from their past. there is still room in their hearts for each other. i am sure they will fix their broken relationship. they belong to each other.

So true...Elliot and Kathy belong together...Elliot and Olivia are just together in people's imagination...and people don't understand why we like them together (E/K)...maybe its BECAUSE THEY ARE... Olivia isn't hot for her partner in any way shape or form...she would like stability, but that stability will not come from a Stabler...
RollingStone
Olivia seemed to rely on Elliot before way more than she does now.
I'm thinking it's because she had no family before && now she has
Simon. && after everything in the past 3 seasons she's realized she
can't continue to rely on a guy who has a wife && 4 children.
Hopefully, if Kathy && Elliot last together Olivia will find a
reliable man.

they deserve another scene together. was that 'dependent' when elliot came back to kathy? i could see concern in kathy's eyes when she saw her husband. i knew she still love him. he was like a lost little boy when he said he wanted to come home. aaw... if i were kathy, i'd give him another try and never let him go. yeah, grab him back, kathy!

I don't know the name of the episode, but I love the scene where he asks to come over late at night and check on his kids because of the case he was working. And then Kathy invited him to come to bed (was this when little Eli was concieved?). You see the connection the two of them have. And you see that Kathy recognized his pain and wanted to comfort him. And, of course, we get to see Elliot take his shirt off! I wonder if the writers sit around and discuss ways to include a shirtless Elliot into scenes! Maybe just the women writers. laugh.gif

olivia is bound to meet a man soon. she doesn't need to wait for him to come. he just comes to her unexpectedly. she's so devoted with her work, she doesn't have time for love. we don't see dean go out with a woman, so that makes them a perfect pair! wink.gif

You know I'm going to be spending most of my time in this thread...thank you Marianna! I think I love you now lol

Anyway, I agree majority- Elliot does love Kathy. I hate it when people say "oh he's only with Kathy because of the kids"-- in Dependent, it did not take his worry over the kids or anything to have him realize that he wanted to come home. Actually I think he had always wanted to come home but was just too chicken which was a shame. Kathy does provide Elliot with stability- she was wrong when she said to Olivia that she gives it to him but I guess Kathy didn't realize what sort of influence she had over Elliot. When he was with her, he was much more happier, much more in control, and his humor was light-hearted fun too.
RollingStone
True, but Olivia gives him stability as well.

You don't have to apologize for posting in this thread....I don't care if you are an E/O shipper.....

Mad4svu...I will be here often too....Elliot has been partners with Olivia for 9 years, but Elliot has been partners with Kathy for over 20 years and they are truely in love with each other....it is finally nice to see a tv show keep a married couple together....
Mad4SVU
I am sure that it's not easy at all for a wife being married to a cop/detective but then again, is it easy being married to a doctor? or even a lawyer? They have mid-night wake up calls as well, on call all the time. However one cop-marriage stands out is Columbo- we never even have seen his wife but yet whenever he talks about her, he talks about her with love. Whenever Elliot talks about Kathy, his face softens.

I really also love it about Chris, whenever he does talk about Elliot's marriage, it seems like he defends it as well as supporting it. He's an EK shipper biggrin.gif

This is true though, because today, the media are protraying all the negative things about marriage, and life. I guess they showed that at hard times, things will work out in the end, if it is all worked out. I would still like to see them talk about it, because it just seems they(writters) skipped that part, which is very important for shippers and non shippers of EO and EK.

I believe it is all worked out between Elliot and Kathy...I mean every marriage has its share of problems, but it is nice to see his family back together again...
RollingStone
SVU seems like it could've been two shows.
One with E/O && one with E/K.
I mean they make Mariska && Chris the main characters.
The face of SVU is mainly them both.
It's just so confusing..

She isn't a booty call.
I have a REALLY SMART IDEA!!
What if Elliot took time out of work?
I mean there's Chester now && Munch could get
more screentime with the squad, doing his job.
&& maybe they could bring in a new detective (guy)
that ends up staying with the squad even when Elliot
comes back && proves to Liv Elliot isn't the only one
who would've dealt with her for 8 years.
&& that way E/O slowly gets faded out.. && E/K
starts shining a bit more.
Anyone hear a fanfic coming??

I do believe that it is 'Annihilated.'

I do like the fact that Elliot and Kathy are trying to work it out for the kids but when are they going to show that they are working it out because they love each other? I want to see that. I do think the writers gave a small indication in 'Paternity' but any loved one will say anything when something tragic happens. I guess what I am trying to say is that I want the writers to give us a scene just showing Elliot and Kathy swinging on a hamic (not sure I spelt that right), holding each other's hand, and just talking about work or the each other. Lately Elliot has been working and once in a while he will bring up the baby. He never talks about Kathy. It's what makes me think that they might not last. I know they love each other but I want to see it. Right know, I see and husband and wife working it out for the kids and that never ends up working out.

I agree and if you look at the ratings...the show's ratings were at their highest in the first six seasons when Elliot and Kathy were together...Elliot really never brought up his family at work unless a perp asked if he had children, so I don't think that they need to bring up anything else...they are together and that is all that matters to me....I don't have a problem with seperating work from home...my parents have been married for over 40 years and I hardly ever hear them talk about their jobs to each other...I know I asked this before, but why can't tv keep a married couple together...

Well, call me stubborn but I want the writers to show me. That way we have absolute confirmation instead of speculation. It gives for nice proof, if you know what I mean. As far as the ratings go, I thought season 9's ratings have been low? Not sure if that is due to bad writing or the writers strike but...yeah. I think the main reason TV does not keep married couples together is for two reasons: A.) The divorce rate in this country is crazy high. The shows are showing the 'real' life drama of every day living. B.) It causes for some serious drama that draw people's attention. It's sad but it's true. It's all about the ratings.

I must have missed the part where they said Elliot and Kathy were trying to work their marriage because of the kids. The closest thing I can put my finger on is Kathy telling Elliot she needed him to come home because she was pregnant. That changed the time table but Elliot asked to come home before months that. And it sounded like they were working things out even before the pregnancy.
We should get more scenes with Kathy and Elliot together as a couple again. But in reality, the producers don't want to show that to avoid alienating some EO shippers. It's hard to argue that Elliot really wants to be with Olivia when you see him happy at home with Kathy.

It is all about the ratings and the ratings were at their highest when Elliot and Kathy were married...but just because the divorce rate is high it doesn't have to be on tv too...Maybe it is the way I was raised, but you marry someone you marry that person for the rest of your life...I don't know maybe it is the Irish Catholic in me...(no pun intended)...and about season 9 ratings, I think it is a mix of both the writers strike and bad writing in general...maybe now that the writers are back they will see what kept the ratings up and that is the banter between all the people in the squad...you know...when they actually liked each other and respected the Captain...

The thing is, I don't want the show to become the Elliot at home show- I like the dollops of Kathy appearing now and again although I must admit, I am torn because I think SVU have wasted Isabel's talent by not stretching her role longer then, what, 5 minutes top per episode before Paternity. As long as it doesn't stretch the entire hour as Simon has done (twice!) then I think I'm good. She's made numerous appearances in season 1, two appearances in season 2 before it dwindled to once every season until season 8 where Kathy has made more appearances and so far this season, 3 appearances. However in Blinded- I had hoped that she appeared more, like at home when Casey visited Elliot or even accompany Elliot to court.

Kathy and the children should only be used when it is appropriate because there is a connection to the case. They should have been used in Streetwise, Unorthodox and Inconceivable. Each of those shows had a point that could have been played up by showing Elliot with his family. And Blinded should have focused on Elliot instead of going off into the mental health issue.

I don't mind if the family showed up like it did during the first 6 seasons...but Philly and Fla had WAY to much family for my taste...both episodes really had nothing to do with SVU...I know he was accused of rape, but comeon...the storyline sucked...I am glad she now has family, but why make her family criminals...maybe to bring up the nature vs. nurture debate...who knows...
