Hey guys, now for those that don't know:

Friday Night Smackdown! is officially leaving The CW @ the end of the 2007/2008 Season, but

What does the future hold for SD!?

Well, WWE was thinking about putting SD! on networks that are owned by NBC-Universal such as Sci-Fi which is the sister network of USA, or MyNetworkTV.

But there are some other possibities as well:

ESPN-The Network now owned by Disney-ABC that use to air wrestling such as the AWA and the GWF and ESPN Classic is airing reruns of UWF Wrestling.

abc-The flagship of Disney/abc, the same company that also owns ESPN, The Family Channel from Pat Robertson, SoapNET, A&E and of course, Lifetime.

NBC-The same network that aired Saturday Night's Main Event, now that might be a possibility, too.

FOX-The Network that picked up Saturday Night's Main Event and they also own FX and FSN (The Network that use to air TNA iMPACT!)

CBS-The Network that not only owns The CW (along w/Warner Bros.) but they also aired Hulk Hogan's Rock 'N' Wrestling on CBS Saturday Morning which was Produced by both the World Wrestling Federation and DiC Enterprises (Producers of Inspector Gadget, The Littles and I'm Telling!) and they also own Paramount Television.

TBS-The Network that use to air Wrestling for alot of years from the NWA to WCW and the WWE also aired on TBS (then known as Superstation WTBS) in 1985, and now, they air Comedy.

TNT-The sister network of TBS and the same network that aired WCW Monday Nitro and now, they air Drama such as ER, The X-Files, Charmed and the cult favorite Law & Order.

A&E-The network that use to show Wrestling Documentaries.

Well guys, those are the possibities.

Now, where will SD! go?

That's the Question!

Well all I can say is this:

Stay Tuned!

Hi Bubba here, I would say FOX. I don't think TNT and TBS want back in the wrestling biz and the local network stations probably wouldn't want it either and soon as the fall schedules come out for those stations you can mark those off the list. ESPN is maybe though.

I'm actually hearing rumors that SD will head to WGN. The only problem that leaves, is despite airing White Sox & Bulls games, during the summer, WGN airs anywhere from 2-5 Cubs games a week. Those Cubs games will be given preference over SD, no doubt. So will McMahon except frequent pre-empting during the summer time.

As for your suggestions...

Sci-Fi: Could happen, only if ECW is cancelled.

MyNetworkTV: Another good possibility. I just doubt they'll get the ratings the WWE is looking for.

ESPN: Does seem to be breaking into the entertainment-wrestling market, but for some reason I just don't see ESPN being interested. Maybe ESPN2, but not the main network.

ABC: Will never happen. ABC is not a wrestling network.

NBC: Won't happen. That's what Saturday Night's Main Event was for. They were attempting to resurrect it as a 4th show, but it fell flat because of consistent low-ratings. NBC cancelled one show, and the other was trimmed to only 90 minutes from 2 hours, and aired at midnight one night, simply to fulfill contractual obligations. NBC feels the ratings are simply too low for them.

FOX: When did FOX air SN's Main Event? Cops & America's Most Wanted have been staples of Fox's Saturday night lineup since 1989. Only one TV season, 1996-97 did Fox make a change. They cancelled America's Most Wanted, and replaced it with Married... With Children, which moved from Sundays. The move was a disaster, Married... was cancelled, and America's Most Wanted was revived for the 1997-98 season, and has stayed the same since.

FX: Never will happen. Not a sports network.

FSN: Too small for SD. TNA Impact! sure, but it's too small for a show like SD.

CBS: Targets an older demographic, and doesn't really have room or a need for SD, seeing how they are consistantly the #1 network each year.

TBS/TNT: I don't believe Turner owns these anymore, and if so, this could be a decent possibility. TBS has now signed a contract with the MLB to carry Sunday game of the week's (similar to Fox on Saturday), all playoff coverage, and the NLCS for MLB. I could see them being interested. TNT carries heavy amounts of NBA coverage, and could also be interested. Both of them have also tried to break into the College Football market.

A&E: Probably the biggest stretch of all. A&E simply do not air show's like this. This is the same network that dropped "24" in favor of a double-airing of "Crossing Jordan". Not exactly the pro-action network.

ESPN- No way. I can't see ESPN airing with doing anything with wrestling besides what they are doing now.
abc- These already have shows every night. They won't move them to fit for a show that probably won't give them the same ratings.
NBC- See above.

FOX- Possibility. FOX has done stuff with wrestling, so i can see Smackdown going.

TBS TNT- These two have the best chance for me. I can see TBS and TNT airing SD.

A&E- No.

Well I remember hearing that TNA was going to air on WGN after they left FSn after 1 year, b/c they wanted to get a new Network Deal, b/c Chris Sabin said that FSN is not a Big Network.

and so, when they heard that WWE was leaving Spike TV, Jeff Jarrett seized the opportunity and they signed w/Spike.

and also, Ted Turner has stepped down from Time Warner, and plus, Jamie Kellner who was over TBS and TNT didn't want wrestling on their networks, but now that he's gone, they might or they might not.

Oh, and just so you know:

I was also hearing rumors that TNA was going to add another show on FX, but like you said Axl, that probably won't happen.

and as for abc, it has become more like the AFV/Dancing with the Stars Network! laugh.gif

Like I said before. Alot of the rumblings right now are saying WGN.

Keep in mind, come May most likely CW will want to go ahead and pull SD, so McMahon is gonna want to make the transition smooth. One week it'll be on The CW, and the next week it'll be on it's new network.

Well, I'll say WGN just to throw it out there.
