Hey guys, Wrestlemania XXIV is only 40 days away and in the almost 6 year history of the WWE Brand Extension, there has been only 1 title that has changed hands more times in a row @ Wrestlemania:

The World Heavyweight Championship

The World Heavyweight Championship has been defended in the last 5 Wrestlemanias.

Beginning w/Wrestlemania XIX, Triple H retained the World Heavyweight Championship against Booker T. w/thanks to his mentor and friend Ric Flair.

But in the last 4 years, the World Heavyweight Title has changed hands and they were all won by 4 Winners of the Royal Rumble.

In 2004, the late Chris Benoit won the 2004 Royal Rumble lasting 62 mins. and the following night on RAW, thanks to Stone Cold Steve Austin, Benoit came to RAW and challenged Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship.

and @ Wrestlemania XX @ Madison Square Garden, he def. Triple H and HBK in the 1st ever Triple Threat World Heavyweight Title Match @ Wrestlemania @ the age of 36.

It was also his 2nd World Heavyweight Title win in his career and he was the 1st person to win the WCW and RAW (now SD!) World Heavyweight Championship

In 2005, Batista would win the Royal Rumble, however, on RAW on President's Day 2005, Batista would soon challenge Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship and @ Wrestlemania 21, he did just that.

He won the World Heavyweight Championship @ Wrestlemania @ the age of 35.

On June 30th on an episode of SD! after def. Triple H 3 times for the World Heavyweight Championship, Batista got drafted to SD! taking the World Heavyweight Championship w/him and John Cena was drafted to RAW taking the WWE Heavyweight Championship w/him.

In 2006, Rey Mysterio won the Royal Rumble and he, too would go on to Wrestlemania and @ Wrestlemania 22 when he won the 2nd Triple Threat World Heavyweight Title Match @ Wrestlemania def. the champion Kurt Angle and Randy Orton to become the NEW World Heavyweight Champion @ the age of 31.

In 2007, The Undertaker won the Royal Rumble when he came in @ #30 by 1st Eliminating The Great Khali and after HBK took out Rated-RKO over the top rope, The Undertaker @ the end would eliminate HBK and he would go on to Wrestlemania and @ Wrestlemania 23 in front of 80,000+ fans in Detroit, MI, The Undertaker would def. Batista to become the World Heavyweight Champion for the very 1st time on SD! and it was also his 5th World Heavyweight Title win in his WWE career.

and that is your look @ the World Heavyweight Championship: Wrestlemania Style

Hi Bubba here, thanks for the lookback.
Axl
When Rey won it was the coolest.

Because up until then he was a Cruiserweight.

Yeah, do you noticed that all 4 of them that are on the pics all won the Royal Rumble and went on to Wrestlemania and challenged for the WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE and NOT for the WWE Heavyweight Title?

Well I guess they much rather prefer the World Title than the WWE Title.

and also, Brock Lesnar was the only Royal Rumble winner durinig the Brand Extension Era that have challenged for the WWE Heavyweight Title.

And that's what I think he should've stayed. But I've gotten into that a lot in the past already.

Well just so you all know:

The reason Rey Mysterio won the World Heavyweight Championship was b/c the WWE's plans were to have Randy Orton win the Triple Threat Match and WIN the World Heavyweight Championship, but b/c of his unprofessional conduct, he was given a suspension for 60 days.

Rey was cool for about a month. Then i was like ok, give the title to Angle. I actually thought Benoit was cool but that is pretty much ruined now.

Benoit simply never had the ability to be a long-term champ. Same with Eddie, Rey, JBL, and eventually Chavo somewhere down the line.

I don't know, no matter how good they are, they just don't have that ability. Rob Van Dam too. Randy Orton imo, Cena imo also.

Guys like HHH, HBK, Jericho, Jeff Hardy potentially, Undertaker, Kennedy potentially, Edge, Batista (even tho he sux)... these guys are the kind of guys you can hang a title on for quite a while successfully in the storyline.

I do agree. They all have the ability to put exciting matches (besides Batista imo) on and everybody (with the exception of hardy who i haven't heard for a while) have really good mic skills. We saw with hardy that he can be successful with a title push.
Axl
And see Slash that's the problem. The WWE is an entertainment medium, which means they will always value mic skills over in-ring ability. If Jeff was good on the mic, he would've been legend years ago.

Cena is probably the primest of examples. The man is so routine & limited in the ring, but.... he owns with a mic, and is quite possibly one of their best mic men now, and one of their best - ever.

He simply knowing his way around a mic has led to his career being what it is in this business, and it's taught me a lesson. If I ever want to become a professional wrestler, the first thing I will do is take acting lessons, not wrestling lessons.
