Momentus occasion, I watched a full episode of Raw. So I thought I'd celebrate with my thoughts.
Let me know what you guys think about...well what I think.
MITB Qualifier:
Jeff Hardy def. Snitsky
What can I say, Jeff Hardy in a push vs a jobber ever since the move to Raw. Nothing too special, once again unclean moves by Jeff in the match and a poor worker in Snitsky didn't do much for me.
Paul Burchill (w/ Katie Lea) def. Super Crazy
Once again, a sort of new push against a jobber. Nothing special, nor do I expect much to come from it. The only positive is that I kind of like Paul's finisher, so yeah.
MITB Qualifier
Mr. Kennedy def. Val Venis
See a formula developing? Push vs a complete jobber? Unfortunate isn't it, they could've at least made it vaguely competitive. Nothing special in this match again.
Steel Cage Match
Mr. McMahon (w/ JBL) vs Hornswoggle (w/ Finlay) (No contest)
Nothing out of the ordinary, you knew Horny was going to get pummeled. It probably went on a little longer than I thought it would, but I guess it didn't bother me too much. This is one of those mulligan matches that I expected nothing from going in, so despite it being stupid anyway, it didn't bother me. Handcuffing Finlay in the ring was a nice touch.
Maria (w/ Santino) def. Beth Phoenix
Yay she poses for playboy, would be much more surprising had I not known about a month ago. Um, Maria and Beth did a decent job with the execution of the moves. Santino did the corny "o I'm happy for you" routine, worked out pretty well.
Last chance match to main event WM
John Cena def. Randy Orton (w/ HHH as special guest referee)
You knew the result. The match was decent, nice to see Orton not just tap to the stfu so easily like many others.
Overall:
6/10
Not many high points, but slightly below average. Predictability hurt the rating of the show and the fact that there wasn't much to work with. I'd like to have at least seen a mid-carder (like an Umaga, half a tag team, whatever) in the matches to make it more entertaining.
