I have been watching the westminster Kennel club dog show for years now, since I have been born almost. Every year the poodle seem to win every group it is entered in. This year TWO poodles have won in non sporting and toy groups. I understand that when judging you must look at the breeds standards such as bone structure, coat, etc. Is every poodle perfect? I have even lost interest in viewing this show because its almost like the other breeds don't even get a chance to compete. The judges don't even look at the dogs throughly. It's almost like they like one breed more than another, so that's what they are going to pick. Is anyone else annoyed at this? mad.gif

The poodle is a work of art. It takes six hours to groom a Standard for show, and another two hours to take it out of show coat. This said, the two poodles who won yesterday, and today are handled by the same person. In my opinion he is the BEST poodle groomer/handler in the world, and sets the standard with the Continental cut. He makes his dogs look like their coats were airbrushed onto their skins. Judges who know their craft highly respect the work required for the show poodle and reward it when they see it done to perfection. I groom for a living, and own Yorkshire Terriers, and wish I was half as good as Brighton Minimoto's handler. I truly believe that unless they get rid of the grooming aspect of showing the poodle then we will always see them winning BOB or BIS.

cool.gif Well each breed must be represented and judged accordingly.
At least the judges this year are judging on the merits of the individual dog and not who is on the other end of the leash.
I have shown at Westminster so I do have some knowledge and experience on this topic.

Coat is not the only thing they judge the dogs by. And It seems that they are only looking at the coat and if they personally like that breed.
