Why have I never seen an American (or English, for that matter) Pit Bull Terrier shown at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show? I'm a devout fan of the breed, despite the bad press they receive. I've given two males a home from the same shelter. One is the most beautiful dog I think I've ever seen. He's a very muscular red-nosed tan and white specimen, quite affectionate, and quite comical, too. His loyalty knows no bounds. The other one is an older black and white couch potato, no less affectionate than the younger one, but he's gotten lazy in his old age (11). Both of them love to play tug-of-war with the knotted rope, though. They'll play with each other or with a human. Sometimes, both of them will tug with the human in the middle!
Anyway, I believe that not recognizing Pit Bull Terriers or not showing at least one per year is unfair to those of us who appreciate the breed.

Pit Bull Terrier
That is not the appropriate term. There was an American Staffordshire Terrier and a Staffordshire Bull Terrier in the Terrier group last night, and they were both beautiful dogs!! Both breeds are often referred to as "pit bulls" but that is a slang term.

No that is not true the APBT is a totally different breed from the staff and they are shown UKC not AKC you will never see a pit in any American kennel club show Now I agree that both dogs last night were beautiful but they are not pits again there are different stats to each dogs for instance Staff's are shorter and stocker then most American Pitbulls who are a lil taller with a bigger chest and head then a staff . I have breed and shown APBT for about 3 years go check out
