Overall very good and funny epi. However I am kinda getting tired of all the 'Really'(s) being thrown willy nilly. The writers are good but there are better phrases like 'For Real' or 'Get Real' or maybe even 'Ya Think?' which were common in earlier decades. Anything but the same word over and over again.

Ladymahogany put down all the best quotes. I think my favorite quote was

"Now we got a mummy on the loose and the son of a b*tch knows how to drive a stick??"

Wow! The way Henry was cleaning you would know that some one was coming. Why didn't Henry want to mention Shawn's mother is coming to Gus. It like Shawn said, "It's Gus." Doesn't Gus like Shawn's mom? So, when Shawn answered the door, I knew it was Mom. I am glad Karen is now chief; it was the plot twist I guess in the other topic. I didn't suspect that Karen herself would resign if the mayor did not give her the job. Even though, Lassiter was interested in the chief's job; he was happy that Karen was staying. And the photos in the paper taken by Burton Gaster, that was funny and sweet. How about Shawn wanting that stupid glass fish? "You had your chance!" I think did throw Jules off a bit; but hey, we all know that Shawn is a ladies man. With what happened to his parents, Shawn doesn't rush into a serious relationship.

Yes, I recognized Steve in the museum. All in all, a fine job by Steve.

Best. Episode. Ever. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Shawn, pointing at confederate flag: "What's wrong with this flag?"

Gus: "Everything."

Hilarious, all the way through. Can't wait for season 3!!!

Did anyone else notice the glass fish in Chief's office? I love the reference from "From the Earth to the Starbucks."

Maybe inside I am five, beause I screamed twice. The first time when Chief Vick announced her leaving, and second at the end. The second time was glass shattering haha.

Edit: I liked the you had your chance line too biggrin.gif . And finally Shawn ran away before Gus, that was fun!

Ahhh, I didn't get to turn Psych on until the movie Holes was over on The Disney Channel, so I missed the first 20 minutes. Then I missed a lot here and there but I saw the end. I have my DVR set for todays' showing and will watch again. I was laughing but I knew I was missing a lot, can't wait. It was great when Shawn ran, even my son who is 6 laughed, He didn't hear the swearing though. I don't want anyone to think I just let my kids watch and not protect them. Anyway, it was great how Shawn was telling Gus that he has to face his fears, then Shawn ends up the chicken.
I also loved the time that Gus was driving and trying to get out of the parking lot and he backed up , moved forward, backed up, like 6 or seven times, it was great. I also notice that in the last few episodes, everyone seems to fill in the blanks for Shawn when he's solving the case. He gets a little upset that everyone is ruining his moment. I wonder if it's always going to be that way from now on.

I hope they don't keep ruining his wrap ups, I enjoy his style way too much.

Is Shawn no longer going to pretend to be a psychic? The whole psychic thing seems to be dwindling.

I do not care for these anti-climactic wrap-ups. One here or there is funny, but enough is enough.

Even though I saw the mom thing coming (though not from the flashback), I thought it was an awesome way to end the year.

"I make obscure 80s references"...had to rewind because I was laughing.

Yes, it maybe Gus who is afraid of mummies, but it was Shawn, who ran away from the van, when Gus discovers that there is a mummy in the van. I am prepare to hear some references to the movie "The Mummy" in this episode, which is own by Universal Studios.

They may have snuck one in...When Shawn was "trying to beat the security system" in the museum, Gus made a comment to Shawn about having a pancake butt...as Shawn was walking past a museum patron, he replied loudly to Gus "I do not have pancake butt", at which point the tall, dark haired patron in a dark jacket with glasses turned and looked at Shawn and the camera...and I think but am not certain it was the actor Arnold Vosloo who played the main character Imhotep / the Mummy in both "The Mummy" movies. Like I said I cannot be sure but there is a very strong resemblance. I even went so far as to pause the show on my TIVO and compare his face to his photos on IMDB...Anyone else catch this or have an opinion.

everyone who knows his secret gives him a hard time when he goes into one of his "psychic acts" so he picks his spots i guess. you are right, i hate those anticlimatic wrap-ups.what happened to the bad guy running for the exit or hopelessly taking someone near them hostage???????

you've got eagle eyes!!!!! i thought i was hallucinating but at the least he looks just like IMHOTEP!

I noticed a couple things on the second watch-through.

- When Shawn's arguing with Gus about the color of the pickup, he says "You know the cones in the eyes make it possible to see at night"--but he got it wrong. It's the rods that are responsible for night vision. I'm a bit disappointed that Gus didn't correct him, but I guess I could chalk that one up to him being really nervous.

- The newspaper at the end has the same three or four paragraphs repeating over and over in the Sauter article. If you pause it on both close-ups, you'll see.

I'm still a bit bummed that out of the whole episode, only a small part of it took place in the museum after dark. Not that it was a bad episode, but the way they talked about it ahead of time made it seem like that would be the main focus. Now that they've used the concept, they won't be able to use it again, which is a shame because there was so much potential for fun and scary moments.

It's still probably my favorite episode of this part of the season, I'm just saying...

Without a doubt this was the best episode of the season! I love the fact that Lassie is finally starting to loosen up a bit. Whomever mentioned him not wearing a tie, I saw that too and boy did he look sexy without it! I also love the fact that Steve Franks made an appearance in the museum when Gus said Shawn had a pancake butt! HAHAHA

Love the scene where Gus hauled a** out of the museum and knocking over the senior guard after he and Shawn found the missing guard in the old school frig dead... and when Shawn sprinted off after they followed the Van into the woods. And I was biting my nails when Shawn opened the door and was surprised by his mother!

Season 3 is going to be EXCELLENT!!

Oh yes, did he look sexy. And when Lassie was describing the Asst Curator, and Jules says "I wore my hair in three different styles this week and you didn't even notice" lol

Gus trying to get out of the parking lot was too funny. I laughed so hard. I've watched the episode twice and still didn't understand why he was having a hard time getting out of the parking lot. It appeared to me that he had enough room to back that car up and follow the van with no problem.

Shawn and Gus run too funny. Gus is always running like a track runner, but funnier and Shawn, I've noticed that he tends to lean his head to the right when he runs.

I just think that despite Shawn's 'psychic' abilities, he's starting to get more respect from everyone. I enjoyed when the Chief was going to break the news to everyone and she wanted to see Lassiter, Juliet, and Shawn together. I kind of think they're just trying to even everything out. To me everything is made up for in the writing, I was cracking up non stop Friday night.

Totally unrelated...I adore James, for many reasons, but obviously he's a pretty gorgeous guy. And Tim with no tie on and what not rolleyes.gif There was a lot of sexiness on screen tongue.gif

Although, Shawn and Gus are inseparable, I believe that Henry wanted to break the news to Shawn alone, because of the way he and Shawn's mother split and how it affected Shawn. I guess he wanted to make sure Shawn was alright with seeing his mother after all these years.

I could be wrong, but I believe that a part of Shawn blames his mother for abandoning him and his father and we will see just how much she hurt Shawn, in season 3.

Best episode of the season! I was rolling off the couch the whole time! I'm just sorry we have to wait to see Shawns mom! Speculation: Maybe being with the rabid mink lady made Henry realize how much he still loved Shawn's mommy! *happyclaps* I can't wait. And just in passing, Lassie just gets hotter with each passing week. The tie-free look is his equivalent of dressing to arrest. LOL

Tall and dark, yes - actor Arnold Vosloo? no. It was Steve Franks. The show's creator, and writer and director of this episode.

Hi Psych fans! I'm "psyched" about next season. Here is a thought...what if Shawn's mom really is psychic? That would be cool. Also, I was recently re-watching "9 Lives" from the first season (I just had a birthday and I bought the DVDs with money from my grandma). Anyway, I was wondering.... "little boy cat" seemed so comfortable around James Roday. Does anybody here know if that is his pet? I am a cat person myself.

I believe they said it was the only "professional actor" (trained) cat in the area.

I do know it was definitely a girl cat. It's a bit complicated to explain thoroughly, but genes responsible for some fur colors/patterns of a cat's coat are sex-linked. A cat with a calico or tri-colored pattern is a girl-cat.

In the beginning of the episode, when Lassie & Jules are walking through the museum & talking about the newspaper, Lassie pretends he wanted to look through the classified ads for something, but I couldn't understand what he said he was shopping for. Then McNabb asks if he's looking for a full-sized one. I know Lassie was just covering for the fact that he wanted to see if he was mentioned in the article about that case, but does anyone know what he said he was shopping for?

I think he said a Big Boy, I'd have to go back and look.

While Shawn's mother has been mentioned on the show several times, she has never appeared on the show in real time or in the flashbacks. In Shawn (and Gus) of the Dead, the mother appeared in the flashback, but we did not actually get to see what she looked like because of the way that scene was shot. This was foreshadowing the fact that she would appear at the end of the show.

Haha I just thought this was funny.
I remember how Shawn was talking to Gus about how Sophie liked Red Robin and that that's where they were going for their date, and Shawn asks Gus, "What do they have at Red Robin?" Well I just saw a commercial for Red Robin, and the guy on it was raving about how he loved the grilled pineapple on his burger. I guess that's what Shawn would get on his date! biggrin.gif
tolietducky
haha your right! i could totally see him getting something like that.

im not sure what Red Robin is....they show commercial for them all the time down here but its kinda stupid cause they dont even have them down here in LA....
PsychBabe007
I have actually eaten at Red Robin and cracked up when Shawn said that because my favorite burger is in Banzai Burger. (The one with pineapple on it) They so need an episode of Psych with Shawn eating one and commenting on the pineapple now! LOL

Heh, Banzai Burger. Red Robin. I don't think there's anything all that special about them. I'm guessing that was an inside joke between Steve and the cast or something of that sort.

You know what I totally loved about this episode and forgot to say. When Gus is trying to buy Wolfsbane, and Shawn is convincing him to come help him with the case. James totally reiterated the "I need you" accompanied with the circle from the Pilot. I absolutely loved that.

I'm a longtime Psych fan first time poster. I was out of town this past week and just watched the latest episode, which I really liked a lot...it extremely funny. I thought it was pretty predictable that the Chief was going to stay. She knew too much....

Also, I agree with most that the funniest line was to Jules "you had you chance" and to Henry "awkward class?"

I'm also a baseball fan - Shawn was going over the timeline and mentioned Cincinatti and drew a stick figure. Then he explained to Gus that that was Austin Kearns....Austin was traded to the Washington Nationals in 2006.

I thought the funniest part of this episode was Shawn and Gus' "hide and seek" security-camera style.
Especially when Gus started making fun of Shawn.
I also thought James Roday's last line "Mom?" was delivered perfectly.
But I got very sad/excited/OMG I need to analyze this and see if it i s good or bad
when Shawn said to Jules "You had your chance"
As you can see by my name I love Shules.
