I think it'd be swell actually Quofi, have this thread and one more stickied to be operated for campaign reasons. But I was making my suggestion if admins denied a possible request to sticky these threads.

Hope they read your msg and do sticky this. If they do, I agree we should have 2 topics seperately.

Indeed!

Let's wait a little while then, give him a chance to respond and base our decision off that.

Hey guys I actually DID see the admin on here about a week ago, although that was before all of the moderation ideas!!! Let's hope they come around again.....I rarely see it though unsure.gif
Megan3375
I have seen this post before missamberlori and I definately am not brave enough for that!!! GOOD IDEA though!!! Maybe someone else is though!!! Oh and it was a guy in that Leave Britney alone video!!!! laugh.gif
SurvivorJoe
Hmm, that kind of publicity might hurt us more than help us I think. People made fun of that guy and that video for awhile, still do.
Promicinjunkie
Rather than a mean video on You Tube, what about a funny one? Like someone doing a Top Ten Reasons to save the 4400, or a Jay Leno-esque monologue on saving the 4400....

Or some sock puppets reenacting classic 4400 scenes...

Get your own domain name and server space, and post whatever you want, whenever you want. You can even delete the things you do not like.

Everyone needs to see this video. It's a bit long, but in the 6th minute you'll hear from the actors of the show personally, what we need to do to save the 4400.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgyJlGrj9ec

It's so ironic and sad that they say all that stuff without having a clue about what is coming.
Quofi
Thanks for the link Kryth.

That chat was nice, particularly because they answered one my questions, but I will share a secret with you: Actors do not know how to "save" a TV show. Writers do not know how to "save" a TV show. Fans Most Definitely do not know how to "save" a TV show.

I asked Amy Berg about how the network interprets the ratings (what they consider good, bad), and she was kind and honest enough to say no one really knows. These are the people who make the show, the smartest people involved with the show, and they do not know. OK?
Megan3375
OOKKKKKAAAYYYYY alex I think you have made you point more than once! And now lets remember it is one person's opinion!!! You have said yourself many times we do not know what goes on behind the closed doors of the corperate offices of the Network! Why then do you think your so right? Are you higher above on the information grape vine than the people that make the show? Now I am just wondering have you gotten it all out of your system? I had almost forgotten what it was like around here when I first joined the board last year! Certain people having to put other people on ignore because they were constantly being baited and/or criticized! The peace has been nice!

Megan:

He's just an annoying troll, pay no attention. If his negativity and sophomoric responses do not get him the attention he craves, he'll eventually move on. He told me he wouldn't post in this thread anymore unless somebody asked him a question.. I don't see anybody talking to him though. A shame we have to deal with it, for now. smile.gif

I think the 5,000 "petitions" have made their point, too, but people keep repeating the same things. How many more "petitions" are needed? They have the "right" to expressing their misguided opinion, but I do not?
Megan3375
Did I say you did not have the right to express your opinion alex? I don't remember implying that! I think I said you have expressed your opinion enough times for us all to hear, I was insinuating that it is getting a bit taxing. Had I thought you had no right to express your opinion in the first place I would have told you that on your first post!

I have found a useful link to the campaign.

I am not sure I follow, but if you think some guy, like me, can "derail" this crusade simply by posting an opinion (based on fact), how can you expect to get a TV network to renew a cancelled TV show? If these efforts are that fragile, you never had a chance. If not, then why worry about my opinion, or anyone else's? You cannot have it both ways.

Alex, my response to your "ability" was supposed to be meant as a compliment. You know"reality checks." You're opinion has Not derailed this movement, "crusade" in any way. These efforts are in NO way fragile.

There are many many people, Worldwide, do you "get that"? There are people putting their hearts, time, souls, money, energy etc. into this. This is not just about a TV show anymore. It's about accountability, respect, not being used by corporate America, over and over again. It's time for the peoples voices to be heard. The corporate stranglehold that has trapped us, this is us just fighting back.

Kinda like the people being screwed by their own government, who is owned by who? Oh yeah! Thats right, Corporations, Big Businesses, that buy our politicians, funnel taxpayers money through Oh I don't know, oh yeah thats right just one ex. department of DHS to pay Blackwater without any over site, and no other bidders allowed, and who is suppose to report that information?, Yep you got it The Main Stream Media, but they of course are also owned by, well you know who! CORPORATIONS!! And we NEVER hear of the dirty little secrets behind the scenes, things they are responsible to the American people to keep us informed about. Remember the "airwaves" ARE under the public domain, TV stations bought time with the deal that it would give back to the public. You Know the FCC, wanna bet thats held hostage too,we are forced to watch their crap they advertise, listen to the slants of the lies they want us to hear, Spin the news what ever.

My point is the people here are dedicated, determined, and full of passion. The show had something to say, made people think. Not the dumbing down that is so prevalent now. So you see, Alex it's about the show but it's also about not being pushed around any more like we are just commodities. It's a kinda circle of life thing now. Never give up hope . NO MATTER WHAT!!!. well those are my opinion's. One More thing Alex, with all due respect, I will not turn this in to an Alex/Phanta Thread and waste these good peoples time. so if you want to pm me that ok, but, thats about it from me, here. Join us, support us behind the senses, or report valid info. but THIS movement will carry on, and being positive is a good thing. It never hurt anything bringing positivity, no matter how bleak a situation may seem, and Alex, This "Save the 4400" movement is anything but bleak, "They" haven't even begun to see the power we have. Take care.....Peace

I like the youtube.com video idea!!

I also love the idea of sending this info to Ellen Degeneres (can't remember who suggested that). She always shows quirky stuff from viewers. Also, I am still emailing the news station that is local to USA Networks.
Kryth
Amerirish I'm sorry I missed the spot about the youtube idea, could u explain what it is? A fan speaking about the campaign to encourage people to send seeds or what?
amerirish
Somebody mentioned a video on youtube.....some guy shouting to leave Brittany Spears alone or something like that. Apparently it got lots of attention (I've never seen it) so the idea came up to do a similar, radical video for The 4400.

OK, good. You are probably the first and only person to mention reality in all of this.

QUOTE (heart)

Which is what makes it so sad. Seeing so much effort, time, money, etc, wasted so pointlessly. It would be one thing to do something to raise awareness of the show and attract more viewers--that would have a chance of doing some good. But focusing on changing the network executives' mind is unrealistic, misguided, and so on. There is some overlap, of course. It is not completely one thing or the other, but the bulk of these efforts is a complete waste.

QUOTE (heart)

It is difficult to think of a better cause for fighting, but not aimlessly. The first thing a general needs in a war is accurate intelligence about the enemy and the terrain, so they can come up with a strategy based on that reality. They do not throw themselves at the enemy without a clue, unless they want to be crushed and humiliated.

QUOTE (heart)

Just imagine the effect, if those efforts were also intelligently targeted.

It would be impossible to waste these people's time, they are already experts at it. The most POSITIVE thing they can do is face reality, and educate themselves about the fight they want to fight, so those efforts are not wasted. Turn false hope into realistic hope. You are posting this in an open forum, so it is appropriate for me to reply to it in the same forum.

If you gather a crowd under an orange tree, demanding apples, your best intentions, efforts and time are going to be for nothing. You would do much better looking for an apple tree.

Yes, if the kind of attention you want to get is utter ridicule and pity, this would be a significant next step.

If you want to get respect, and to be taken seriously, you should keep looking.

I thought about it while I was going to my job... I was thinking about something (please forgive my english)

Imagine (could be filmed with camera t hand) :

- A guy sit on a chair in the dark without a lot of light...
- He is dirty and he can't see anything because he is blindfolded
- He says he was abducted by a 4400 rebel movement and will be released when the 5th season will be planned !

what do you think about that ?
Kryth
Haha , I like the idea on paper, but it could look really scary and hurt the campaign for reasons not related to the campaign. mellow.gif
Pablo
Ok, Kryth... What about something like this : http://www.expotv.com/videos/reviews/15/15...rstSeason/42927

Just replace the dvd promo by a speech about the seeds revolution wink.gif
Kryth
I'm definitely up for a video presentation idea, all I wanna make sure is that it's executed well. It must be inspiring for the fans and intimidating for the adversaries.

Lol! It may be difficult to be intimidating at the same time, but I agree nonetheless.

And I feel it would be for the best if people stop responding to Alex. It's up to you, but think about the lunacy of his actions. He goes on about reality, how we're wasting time, etc. Does he think his actions are really going to stop the campaign, or suddenly slow down our sending of seeds? If he does, he's not thinking realistically like he believes all of us should. Looks as if he's the one clearly wasting time, so from his viewpoint he is as guilty as all of us.

Of course, from my viewpoint, we're being quite realistic and making good use of our time. smile.gif

I just saw the petition has over 15,000 signatures now. Woohoo!
Pablo
Things are going in a very nice way with more than 15 000 signatures !!!

May be, we could open a poll like wink.gif :

Alex works for USA Network.
Alex is an actor from "Heroes".
Alex is a marked.
Alex doesn't like seeds at all.
Alex is bored.
Alex is Bonnie Hammer.

Anyway, I can understand that some people does not agree with what we are doing... but please stop poluting. It isn't worth !

hey guys, this is my first post here.
I have a friend who is a total fan of this show, and thanks to him I now own dvds of the serie. I really enjoy it. So he comes and asks me to sign petition I say sure. But now I come dig into what's going on with "the resistence", see if there is more I can do to help, and I see you guys are having ideas for an youtube video to drag attention.

So, i get this idea on my mind...
Big series with big fanbases, those who are kept running for years, have at least some fanvideo production. Star Wars being the most productive fanbase on videos. Since I gradueted in moviemaking fanvideos have been an interesting subject for me, so I came up with this basic, general idea on what could call some attention in the youtube. I supose you all saw the youtube videos made to promote the series, you know, the pro and anti sides of the promicin? Those are simple, basic videos one can do with a webcam and some acting. Anyone can do that. So here is what my idea is, we make as many videos we can with us, fans, acting like we were people from the 4400 universe. Saying what happened after we took promicin, or how we lost someone important for us for promicin (or in the hands of someone who took promicin). It will be sorta like fanvideos, only without the need for special FX (which could make the videos look really nasty being home-made). If we happen to have enough of those videos, and they get to be seen by enough people, we may convince the network that the 4400 universe is alive and well and that they really should be trying to make a profit out of it instead of being the villans in the "save the 4400" battle.
What you guys think?

First off, welcome to the movement! smile.gif I think your idea is a brilliant one, and I'd be delighted to shoot a short video and put it on youtube for this purpose. And it also makes so much sense, but! I think we need to coordinate it as well, just like the seeds. So we designate a deadline for them videos, and shoot until that deadline and upload on the same day. Name them similarly so they'll lead to each other in youtube. Why don't you open a video thread for this and put up some pointers for us that we should follow when we are shooting the video. We can also designate a deadline in that thread as well. smile.gif

Hello, and thank you for coming to these boards! We welcome all the help we can get.

I love your idea about the Youtube videos, unfortunately I don't have a webcam. I do have a 8mp digital camera which I think can record video, if the quality is good enough I would participate.

As Kyrth said, this would require some good organization. I don't know much about making movies or short clips, I don't have many (if any) creative ideas as to the content of the video. A video thread would be good, and some creative people can come up with concepts and if somebody wants to take a crack at creating that concept then we can start up a collection.

I'm not sure we would know they were. But the videos would be out there, and people would see them. They might catch the eye of somebody important, whether that be a reporter or just another fan who decides to send a case of seeds.

It's really easy I think. It really doesn't matter if u don't have a webcam either, you can shoot videos with whatever means necessary and then transfer them to your computer and manipulate the material. You can actually connect multiple 30 second videos and make a, say, 5 minute video.

Megan3375
Welcome Kosmonauta biggrin.gif Sounds like you will be another key player in the movement!!! I hope you take the suggestion Kryth gave earlier to open a new topic and post all the information we would need to make this a real possibility!! GREAT IDEA BTW!!!
Kosmonauta
Wow, a fast reaction. Nice to see that my idea was well taken.

As Quofi said, it doesn't need to be seen by execs, it just needs to call some attention. Even if it is just to get more fans into "the fight". I can come up with a few guidelines for everyone, on the technicals and creative details we can come up with so I suppose I will follow Kryth advice and start a new thread with all information I can think of as to technical help. But on the creative side, I am not entirely up-to-date with the series (haven't seem the whole 3rd season and nothing of the 4th) so I could use some help, if only to know if my ideas are way out of the series current focus.

So, i'm gonna do the new thread now, and everyone please be welcome to help me organize everything!
Pablo
Kosmonauta : Thank you for getting involved in our movement and thank you for your g0od idea !

It's quiete easy to upload to youtube (the "hardest" thing is to register !). I could help anyone who needs help !

By the way, I was thinking about a new wallpaper/fan art to include with our letters : You have probably already seen this kind of picture... What do you think about replacing all 4400 background photos by real fans pictures ?
Kryth
Pablo, it'd take too much time to get that many pictures from that many people and delicately place them into a wallpaper. I understand the idea behind it, but it's techinically really time consuming =\ . And that's not the main problem, the people in that wallpaper are random people like us, except for a few well known 4400s, like Lily. Basically we can replace the known 4400s pictures with random pictures and send it as "fans". That unfortunately wouldn't raise any noise imho.

On another note, everytime I log in to these boards I check the people browsing the boards and I always see more guests than users. This is good and bad. Good becuz we're actually more in number than we think, bad becuz we need as much activity as possible.

So I'm calling you lurkers to come out of your dark corners and join the movement smile.gif . It's good to have as many fans here as possible. Expand the synergy and grow. smile.gif

I promise you won't regret it biggrin.gif
