I found the show to be very well done. I'm disappointed it was cancelled and horrified at the attempted replacement; Psyche; where we have the classic dumb white man (ok that's a real sore point with me) and a step 'n fetchit side kick. They could do better.

I tried to watch Psyche and fell asleep. Like the Daily Show . . . just not funny. Like Jim Carrie. Very clownish and primitive.
Primitive - and an insult to the obvious intelligence of people who turn to USA and are attracted to the intricacies of compelling crime drama. The Dead Zone was no less of a crime drama than Law & Order . . . Johnnie was just a police consultant that used a freaky brain abnormality to help solve crimes instead of using specialized training or . . . in the case of Adrian Monk . . . obsessive compulsive attention to detail.
Whatever though - I understand the critics a little because I disagreed with King's original story - the way it went. That was lame that Johnny had to die and had to be crazy and kill a powerful politician. We have too many European Americans in prison for just that sort of thing already.
That's why I liked the series. Johnny got to go on and have a life. I never learned how he dealt with Greg Stillson though. I just saw the first part of the cliffhanger with Johnny getting apocalyptic visions of the city he was in being a nuclear volcanic hell whenever he touched the soon-to-be-President's hand. I never saw what he did about the guy - probably just used his powers to render him politically dead and then went out and bought a steak dinner - warm and safe away from too many people touching him.
That's what I would do. If possible - be as Buddhist as you can and preserve life.
