Well, I did a snotty thing when I first came on board. And I'm sorry for it. sad.gif

I wasn't used to all of the long signatures, so I made a comment about them. Not nasty, but not accepting either. A kind poster told me that there was a feature to ignore signatures. Well, I never utilized that feature and now I actually LIKE all of the photos & clever phrases that accompany a person's post. Go figure. tongue.gif

Hi there...long time no see smile.gif

We all can slip into being snotty from time to time...it's just human nature. And it's forgivable.

The trick is to not post *only* snotty things or *only* things that don't have anything to do with the board's predominant culture (except maybe in the Off Topic thread where I think I've seen everything except maybe a pink unicorn with purple polka dots pass through tap dancing and singing laugh.gif ).

I feel sad for the people that don't get the board culture here...it is mostly very easy-going and friendly and fun and you have to be doing something seriously wrong or annoying to get yourself on an ignore list or get everyone really mad at you.

I've only ever really gotten mad at one user here, that was during the heat of the strike and that person was accusing VDO's production company of somehow promoting scabbing or was somehow going against the writers. I knew that this person was misinformed (and I also understood that this person wanted to be wrong but felt he/she had to speak up) and sure enough the source of this person's information was a really unreliable gossip column.

We also vigorously debated whether VDO supported the strike (he did) and whether he had to come out to the picket lines to prove it (most of us said no,this person insisted that he had to). VDO showed up to the lines *more than once* and on one occasion was the most recognizable actor on the line and so he gave every single media outlet interviews (sadly it was mostly local media who were covering the strike). And we all know he tends to be a private person.

I am now over it, that feeling of needing to be right in public. But at the time boy was I mad mad.gif and I really argued hard with that other person, who has not posted since. I hope she/he knows that I don't bear a grudge towards her/him, it's just that I felt the need to defend VDO which of course was rather stupid because he's more than capable of defending himself.

Seriously I would not mess with him. He used to be a bouncer and it's not hard for him to appear authoritative and intimidating if he needs to.

I love the ignore user feature, it can come in very handy for one's sanity and blood pressure.

I have very few folks on ignore - only a certain group that has been repeatedly obnoxious. It saves me from saying something I might later regret. I consider this to be a place to share and have fun - not to get upset.

And WHY would anyone want to choose to ignore you Vault? You provide us with invaluable information. smile.gif

I am so happy that i decided to join this forum and try to become active in the 'madness' as it was referred to on the initial post. So many people that I've come in contact with in threads have gone out of their way to welcome me, and it warms my heart to see that you all can do that so readily.

well I've never put anyone on ignore.. but it is really a nice feature and i'm glad it is available,
hmm.. i wonder how many have me on ignore... i know there are probably some in the past(not here anymore) that probably did at some point.
i use to be pretty bad at defending opinions.. not just my own.. i feel we should be able to voice an opinion about the show or.. in off topic.. anything written there.. and I love debates.. i may come across bullish at times.. I also would be pretty uh.. assertive while ..uh debating.. but although i might have sounded a bit like a bully.. i'm not.. just outspoken.. i have calmed down a bit.. after some pretty ugly pm's..lol.. oh but i will be totaly honest about how i feel about the show and certain episodes.. so i may find myself on ignore list.. but just put me on the list.. don't pm me and call me a traitor..lol..please.

I'm probably on someone's ignore list for some reason or another. I don't let it bother. I do have to say, I haven't used the feature until the past couple of weeks, and I have to say, that I kinda of like it, the only downside is when everyone gets in an uproar over something, and I don't know what's going on cause I can't read the post!

I'm sorry I'm late in welcoming you gottalovegoren (I am of late an amateur labor activist and citizen journalist and not so much just a fan.) I am usually in the actors negotiations thread and not too many other places here at the USA CI Forum...hopefully when there is some entertainment industry 'labor peace' I can go back to messing around with my sites and just quietly supporting various friends gained during the WGA strike in their new business ventures as they come up

The closest I came to running a forum was running a Yahoo! group for a TV show called 100 Centre Street (our current CI showrunner Warren Leight was a producer on that show). But since my group never took off in huge numbers (although the people at A&E loved it so much it was linked by the official show website) I didn't have a lot of administrative problems. Instead the show got cancelled in the middle of its second season sad.gif ...oh well...can't win 'em all. But much respect to you for being an admin...it's not always a fun job.

nada-ritas That's cute.

I've only used the ignore feature for one poster who was obviosly a troll. And that was quite awhile ago. I would say that 99.9 % of the people on here are wonderful and can maturely disagree and usually with humor which is what makes this board so much fun. I get cranky sometimes and try to think before I type when I'm in a mood.

When I first joined the board I tried to read through all the threads before posting just to get to know what had already been posted and the culture of the board. I had never joined a forum before so I didn't know all the features either. I also made a comment about the signatures and some kind soul posted and told me about the ignore signatures feature. It was a great help while I was reading through all the remaining threads but then I turned them back on because I liked them and I still do. I don't think my comment at the time was "snotty" but in any case I received a warm welcome so I'm still around.

I think we still have it too, lol. Haven't seen it in years though.

It is such a great movie! Hubby and I saw it back when it first hit the theatres and loved it. I remembered it when The Son got older. Turns out, the novel it's based on is on his Accelerated Reader list for school; he read it and tested on it for school, then we rented the movie. He loved it so much, we got it for him for Christmas. He's watched it with several of his friends who then turned around and read the book for school!

I've never saw or read that book, but maybe I can check it out or watch the movie. My mom and brother and I have been looking for books to read for the summer, but all the books are all so teen-dramatic and stuff. We've been reading Classic Greek books like The Odyssey, the Iliad and The Dialogues of Plato. I like stories of toys coming to life; I even wrote a book about it about my own toys (I gave it to my parents as a Christmas present). I'm trying to learn how to write better so I can write a second book about lions and also LOCi stories that I have in mind.

Well now I am wondering if I am on someones ignore list too... blink.gif

It does make you wonder doesn't it? I can be a real itch sometimes so now I wonder if I'm blocked by anyone. blink.gif

You most definitely are NOT on my block list (actually only a certain 1 masquerading as a group is on mine) since I like everyone here. Just don't see the need to take verbal abuse on the threads or in PMs if it can be avoided. wink.gif
