Well, I did a snotty thing when I first came on board. And I'm sorry for it.
I wasn't used to all of the long signatures, so I made a comment about them. Not nasty, but not accepting either. A kind poster told me that there was a feature to ignore signatures. Well, I never utilized that feature and now I actually LIKE all of the photos & clever phrases that accompany a person's post. Go figure.

Hi there...long time no see

We all can slip into being snotty from time to time...it's just human nature. And it's forgivable.
The trick is to not post *only* snotty things or *only* things that don't have anything to do with the board's predominant culture (except maybe in the Off Topic thread where I think I've seen everything except maybe a pink unicorn with purple polka dots pass through tap dancing and singing

).
I feel sad for the people that don't get the board culture here...it is mostly very easy-going and friendly and fun and you have to be doing something seriously wrong or annoying to get yourself on an ignore list or get everyone really mad at you.
I've only ever really gotten mad at one user here, that was during the heat of the strike and that person was accusing VDO's production company of somehow promoting scabbing or was somehow going against the writers. I knew that this person was misinformed (and I also understood that this person wanted to be wrong but felt he/she had to speak up) and sure enough the source of this person's information was a really unreliable gossip column.
We also vigorously debated whether VDO supported the strike (he did) and whether he had to come out to the picket lines to prove it (most of us said no,this person insisted that he had to). VDO showed up to the lines *more than once* and on one occasion was the most recognizable actor on the line and so he gave every single media outlet interviews (sadly it was mostly local media who were covering the strike). And we all know he tends to be a private person.
I am now over it, that feeling of needing to be right in public. But at the time boy was I mad

and I really argued hard with that other person, who has not posted since. I hope she/he knows that I don't bear a grudge towards her/him, it's just that I felt the need to defend VDO which of course was rather stupid because he's more than capable of defending himself.
Seriously I would not mess with him. He used to be a bouncer and it's not hard for him to appear authoritative and intimidating if he needs to.
