One thing I love about NCIS is how well balanced the characters are - I find something to love in each of them.

Perhaps I have a secret soft spot for Duckie, though .. will he be in the new series?

Hm.. that's a difficult question. I agree with Lozzie. I like each of them because they are so adorable and different and I find in each of them something adorable. For example Ziva: I relate to Ziva in her english skills (she speaks of course better than me) but she has problems with the "english sayings" too. And so I find in each character something which relate to me or make this character adorable.

Gibbs has been my favorite from the beginning. With the exception of Jenny Shephard however I enjoy all of the characters for various reasons. Jenny just bores me. Ziva is exciting and so different from Kate but Kate had a lovely innocence that was always present even when she was doing her job and doing it well. Duckie is just too sweet for words and I love Abby and McGee, particularly as a pairing. I don't care for ditzy Abby of s5 and I'm hoping the new material-when we finally get some-will rectify that lousy bit of writing. Tony is Tony and there are episodes when you want to shove him through a concrete wall head first but you remember that deeply buried vulnerability and you wind up feeling sorry for him-just a little. A good slap to the head is a sure fire cure to put his feet on the ground. Gibbs is the patriarch to Ducky's grandfatherly charm. I love how he can put things to rights with a few words, a stern or compassionate look.

I agree Ruralstar, I like all of them for different reasons, except Jenny. I also find her just boring and I didn't care for the storyline last season with her and "The Frog".

I agree the characters are well-balanced. My favorite is Gibbs with DiNozzo a very close second. Although I like all the actors, I think the chemistry that Mark Harmon has with Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette, and Cote de Pablo really make the show. Lauren Holly is miscasted as Shephard and should have stayed a recurring character.

I adore Tony DiNozzo! He is my absolute favorite character, and truthfully, the reason why I started watching the show in the first place. And while I know most people miss Kate, I think that Ziva is just a better fit. The chemistry behind Michael and Cote is truly electrifying.

Kate was my favorite character. Funny, they barely use her in the promos, eventhough they are starting from the beginning. The funniest is that the promo includes her at the beginning saying 'NCIS' where the shot was at a strange angle, and the only other time I see Kate in the promo is a shot of Kate, Tony and Gibbs from the rear running to the rooftop. And if you go to the character photos/character descriptions there is no photo/description for Kate. Makes you wonder... what's up with that?

You know, the character of Jenny never even crossed my mind when thinking of an answer to Bubba's question. Apart from the odd (and I mean "odd"!) bit of sexual tension / wistful sighing with Gibbs, she's neither use nor ornament.

Please tell me that Gibbs will cut his hair again and shave his 'tashe. Please. In my timeline he's just come out of semi-retirement in Mexico and its ... not good.

well i love all them they put their heart into the show to make it the best and i got to tell u i cried when kate got killed might be to early to say that but the others will catch on

My absolute favorite character is Abby and then Tony a close second.
But all of the characters are cool (still not a big fan of the shepard character, but she has her moments)

Being a child of the 60's, my life-long favorite is Ducky. My second favorite is Gibbs (I like his hair longer). Does anyone besides me remember Flamingo Road?

Of the younger cast members, Abby is the most fascinating character on television. Why she hasn't been recognized for it makes no sense. The pairing of Abby and McGee is great.

I have mixed emotions about Ziva - she is interesting, and I could see her working in some form of security. She just seems a bit out of place as an NCIS agent. Please give DiNozzo a smack up side the head as often as possible. He's charming, but he's not charming enough to get away with bad behavior. He gives McGee way too much grief (superglue on the keyboard). It would have been tough not putting superglue in DiNozzo's chair.

I like Jenny, but she doesn't add much. She's too much like an old cliche' ("salt in the wounds" for Gibbs). Season 1 was fine without her -- what was wrong with Gibbs in charge? Enough with the remember/don't remember Paris junk.

Thanks to USA Network for showing NCIS from the beginning! Watching it from the beginning like this reminds me just how much I enjoyed the Kate and Tony banter. It just really tickles me to watch, especially when Gibbs responds to one of Kate and Tony's scenes with something like "Now, why do I feel like a High School principal?"

Abbey all the way. Second would have to be Mcgee, third Gibbs, Ducky or Denozo and Ziva. But I love them all, but Abbey will always be my favorite. The show won't be great with out them. Just don't kill off anyone else (I mean Kate) Just let them quit so they are open for a come back if they want.

I don't know, I'm a big Jenny fan. It's nice to see a woman in a place of power--and there are some moments coming up for you where Jenny is particularly in-your-face and awesome. I do remember going "GO JENNY!" a couple of times at my TV.

My favorite character would probably be McGee, because he cracks me up. He's somebody I'd be friends with in real life. But then, they all are--and that's what makes the show so amazing. It's got the most developed and enjoyable characters on TV.

In response to someone who said they liked Jenny as a woman in a position of power-ITA with that statement. Jenny herself just never gives me that sense. There are a couple of scenes in the aborted s5 that I really enjoyed. She finally achieved that 'in power' vibe but overall I can take or leave the character.

I started watching the show for Abbey, but my absolute favorite character is Ziva. I find her to be the most interesting. Tony is great as well.

Like everyone else this show has one of the greatest ensambles. The only shows that I can think of that com close or surpass NCIS are: JAG, Wings, Designing Women, and La Femme Nikita (a USA Original). They were shows that you tended to watch more for the chraracters than the plots. NCIS has good story lines but the cast is what makes it. I started watching it b/c of Mark Harmon. I loved Kate, she was my fav, but now it's Tony and then Gibbs. Abby is also up there as well. Ziva has brought something new to the show but I'm still reserved on my opinion of her character. Hopefully in the new season she'll start growing into her character more. Cote De Pablo as an actress is great though and I'd watch her in pretty much anything. I've said enough now I'll shut up.

my favorite character is officer david. man I can't believe tony is not all over her. I am a retired sailor but when I was that young if someone like officer davi'd came around I would be mackan on her and get her phone asap. she is my favorite character.

Jeez... A question that tortures my mind!!! Overall, I love all the characters. NCIS wouldn't be as it is without all of these characters. I love the character developments. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be a tie between Ziva, Gibbs, Tony, Abby, Mcgee, Ducky and Jen. Sorry, I just can't choose a fav! Though I have to say, I really do like Ziva. I think she was a great smart addition to NCIS. I liked Kate, but I had to move on and Ziva made that easy. Thumbs up to Cote for doing a remarkable job acting! Heck, thumbs up to all NCIS cast for remarkable acting! Also, I do like Jen, I hope for more character development on her character.

I like all of them for different reasons...Lets see:
Gibbs, because he takes no prisoners
Tony, is cute and I've loved him since Dark Angel, plus he is the comic relief and every show needs that
Abby, is just cool and knows everything and if she doesn't know it, she can can find out
Mcgee, I wish I had his computer skills
Ziva, is a serious Badass and she can be my bodyguard
Kate, she knows how to do a little bit of everything
Ducky, he has a lot of experiance under his built and a sense of humor
Jenny, knows when to put her foot down

I agree with you. All of them are special in a different way :-)

I like all the NCIS team -also Palmer and Lee- but specially Abby and Ducky!

And yours is a great answer. And to that I would add:

David, DiNozzo, Mallard, McGee and Shepherd.

They are like a set. A family. I can't choose between them. And it causes me to sigh a bit every time Kate says or does anything that makes me smil or laugh or admire her because in the back of my mind I realize she's no longer there. I like that girl.

But speaking of a family, I have begun to see a slight resemblance between Gibbs and McGee. I have always recognized that Gibbs may have been a lot like DiNozzo before his wife and daughter were killed and maybe his fun side may have been even more pronounced before Gibbs got married.

Abby is like Gibbs' daughter. Ziva is too, in a way. But Ziva's relationship with Gibbs is (and Kate's was) also more than 'daughterly.'

All the agents and Abby are like Gibbs' kids. Ducky is like a brilliant loving Uncle (The Man From U.N.C.L.E....get it? ) And Jenny Shepherd is like Gibbs' big sister, although that relationship is also a bit more romantic than familial.

I love em all.

I just watched the 2hr season ending tonight. What a shocker in the last 2 minutes. It will be very interesting to see what ended up in the shredder.

My favorite is Gibbs. I saw a few episodes without his character and almost stopped watching the show. He is the glue for the entire team. I also like the relationship between him and Abbey. It is like an uncle/niece relationship that is sweet and touching.

Can't wait to catch up on episodes I have not seen. I just started watching end of last season.

Folks, I'm sorry in late viewing but I have to respond. I'm watching NCIS which I do when I can but this one got me. 2006, Witch Hunt. I saw Abby in Halloween costume as Marilyn Monroe. Great Zounds!!!! She's beautiful but she's beautiful anyway but as MM she's perfect. No one has been able to duplicate MM up 'till now. I'm 65 years old and remember her clearly. Who ever decided to have her do a "dress-up" as MM gets to go to heaven. WOW!!! Steve

I only started watching this great show when USA began showing it. It's been kind of hit and miss and I know I've missed a LOT of episodes. Like so many of you I love all of them, but my all-time favorite has to be Abby. She just brings a smile to my face every time I see her. Next in line is probably Duck, because he also makes me smile. And did I ever have a cruch on him when he was on The Man From U.N.C.L.E.!

I'm surprised that very few comments are made about Abby. She is the most dynamic of all the characters. Despite her child like innocense and dress her intelligence screams out at you and you admire her much more. All of them, with the exception of the director, shout success at you in the most subtle and best as actors. And let us not forget the silent succes characters, The WRITERS that make the show a big hit. Of course I realize that goodwriters are nothing if you don't have actors that fit the programs. let us all give a high five for all of them. Don't you agree? Leo

ABBY is of course. there was never any doubt despite the greatness all her other co-worker radiate in this program!!!

I adore all the characters, because they all have something that makes them great. But if I was forced to pick one it would have to be Gibbs because his character is so classic, and its funny to me that he is just like my own dad.
